How can I point the premiere to a blank folder and bring only the files needed for the project

When I start premiere it loads all files from all my photo/video libraries (app 150 gb almost 20,000 photo). I do not want to sort thru all these files for a project. How can I point premiere Elements to a blank folder and get the appropriate media for a project as I
need them.

As Steve points out, there are really three programs in the Premiere and Photoshop Elements "suite," PrE, PSE and then Organizer, which links between the two, and is an Asset cataloging program. Because of the commonality of the GUI (Graphic User Interface), there can be confusion as to exactly which program one is in.
If you launch just PrE, and not Organizer (can be launched from within either PrE, or PSE), the only Assets/media that you will see is that, which you have Imported into your Project.
Also, having the Assets for a Project, in a separate folder, or folder structure, is a great way to set up the Project. This article goes into details on one set up method: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4491450#4491450

Here's a little gotcha. Let's say you've color corrected a few clips and you've applied an effect to one and want to paste it the other clips. You switch off color correction and copy the clip. You select the other clips and paste effects. What do you think happens? The dvd-rom drive will not read any type of dvd or cd.
desktop computer: Dell Dimension E310 , windows xp, service pack 3.
This Sony dvd rom was installed (by someone else) and replaced the dvd rom that initially came with the Dell E310.
Where can I find driver files for this dvd rom?

All of the Sony internal optical drives are plug & play with Windows so no drivers are required for detection in your PC. If you are having issues getting your drive detected then please try the following:
• Ensure the Sony drive is set as a secondary master by itself. If you have another disc burner or a zip drive on the same IDE cable, please separate them.
• Ensure you have the latest Service pack for your Windows operating system and any other updates for your system installed.

Ok. I know I'm really stupid!
I forgot my main user password and so then allowed someone on my laptop who accidently changed over into the guest user! Now I can't get back into my main user and I was wondering if anybody could either help me reset the password from the guest user or even reboot my laptop so the memory is wiped and I can set up my main user again. Please help me!!!

Hi, I have recently purchased an iPad 2 and only just found out after trying to use a Giffgaff sim card that it is locked to the Orange network in the UK. I don't want to be paying any extra over and above what I have already paid so my question is, is there any way to get the iPad carrier unlocked via apple or orange. Some iPads which were subsidized by the carriers are locked to the carrier, and in that case only the carrier can authorize an unlock. You'll need to talk to Orange, and pay their fee if necessary. They may well only unlock for the original purchaser, in which case you'll need to contact the person from whom you purchased the iPad. Apple can do nothing directly in the matter, since they can only issue the unlock when the carrier provides authorization.

How can i select all RAR archives in a folder and it's subfolders?

so that i can quickly move them all into the same folder to unarchive them. This is after i've decompressed a bunch of zips. Unless someone can tell me how to get 'the unarchiver' to be less dumb, and find the other pieces on it's own. I am constantly getting audio and video in this stupid file arrangement, obviously the work of an evil windows warlock.

and so on. It is driving me completely crazy because it seems like it should be such a natural thing to tell the OS- 'hey, select all the files all the way down into all the subfolders within this folder that are like this one.'

Here's what you do...
open a console window at the root directory that contains all of the .zip files.
After you open all of the zip files you'll have a directory full of subdirectories that contain your .rar files.
Make sure your console window is pointed at the root. If you type "ls" (without the quotes) in the console you should get a directory listing showing all of the subfolders.
Now type this command into the console:
find ./ -iname "*.rar" -exec mv {} ./ \;
This command will recursively find all of the .rar files within the parent directory and then move them to the root level of the parent directory.
Now all of the .rar's will be at the same level and you can use your tool of choice to unrar them.
OOPs, I meant terminal window, NOT console window.
After I wrote this response I put together a little automator workflow and saved it as a service. Seems to work well. Just open automator and create a service. Specify that the service accepts folders from the finder. Then add a single component which is "run shell script". Set the shell script to pass input as arguments. The shell script should be set to contain this:

find ./ -iname "*.rar" -exec mv {} ./ \;
done
Save with a service name: I use "unrar subfolders".
Now you simply right click on the parent folder that contains subdirectories that have segments of .rar archives. Pick the service that you created and the magic will happen and all .rar files will be at the parent level. Make sure you right click the parent folder and not just one of the .rar subfolders, that won't work.
This script can easily be modified to also do the unzip step and clean up afterwards but I like to keep my actions simple and short to avoid unintended consequences.
Those of you following along might notice that the script in fact can operate on several folders so if you select a set of folders and right click it should process all of them in turn. I haven't tested that!
The useful trick that can be used again and again is the "find ./ ########### -exec ####### ./ \;" sequence. This will recursively search from the current parent directory and execute another command on everything that the search finds. The search can be as complex as you like as can the execution step. Just make sure you really know which directory is the current parent because you can easily wind up firing this up from your account root or even system root and do nasty things!!!!!

I just bought an officejet 6500a and I can't figure out how to make it print in black in white only. I print a lot of stuff that doesn't need color and want to save my ink. On some prints it gives me that option when I print. but for the most part it doesn't allow me to change to black and white on things i am printing off the web

I have downloaded the two files needed for the upgrade of Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 to version 12 but I cannot open them to make them run and install. What am I supposed to do. One is a very large .7z file just over 1gb in size.

How do I open up a .7z file just over 1gb in size? I have just downloaded this as an upgrade from Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 to version 12. I cannot see any sign of the Akamai program on my computer that is supposed to open and install the two files that I downloaded.

I don’t mind mountain climbing but anything serious to do with a computer scares me silly.
I installed the 64 bit version of 7zip and once I figured out how to tell the computer to use the right application within that to open the 7zip file, the big file opened and I was able to apply the .exe file to get things going and installed. In the end the default location the installation chose was program files x86 which I think is the 32 bit folder but it all seems to be ok now.

Knowing I cannot upgrade the internal components this laptop has YET to beat my Macbook Air.
Appreciate any feedback as I wish I had gone with the second generation X1 with the HIGHEST specs.

IMHO disadvantages of x1c gen1 and specification you've provided are:
- not upgradable RAM, it's soldered. Whether 4 Gb is enough for the sw developer?
- proprietary SSD interface, SFF. So it's impossible to replace the drive by another SSD - 2.5" sata or in modern m.2 formfactor. The last one might be fitted with some tricks. The maximum capacity of SFF drives Lenovo offers for this laptop is 256 Gb
- very disputable solution regarding restricted number of ports, USB as well Ethernet via external USB adapter
- docking solution via USB port only

Hi Rajesh,
You have to download and deploy the following through SDM (for NW04s/EP7),
1. Business Package for MSS (contains roles,worksets for your Business Package)
2. PCUI_GP (WebDynpro Component)
3. SAP_MSS (WebDynpro Coponent - your MSS application files)
To use ESS and MSS in Conjunction, you also have to deploy Business Package for Common Parts.
Backend SAP systems should have SAP HR and SAP FIN configured.

The easiest way to move bookmarks around is in the Bookmarks Organizer, which at some point was renamed the Library. To open it, you can choose Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks or press Ctrl+Shift+b.
(Please note that the sort order of the Library dialog doesn't actually carry over to the menu. To sort the menu alphabetically, it's easiest to open the Bookmarks Sidebar, right-click the words Bookmarks Menu and choose Sort by Name.)

If not, you cannot. There is no Premiere Elements 8 Mac version. And, you cannot install Premiere Elements 8 Windows on
a Mac computer. As I recall, Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 was the first Premiere Elements version to be offered in Windows and Mac versions.
