You can't use the remote app to setup a network. If your physical remote isn't working you will need borrow another or purchase a replacement.

Your iphone 4 must still be logged into your icloud account. Go to settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of page and tap Delete Account. This will remove all your data from the old device but not from icloud or your iphone 5.

HA! I figured the find my iphone out!!!!! You can have more than one icloud account in "Mail, Contacts and Calendars". So my husband's & kids' phone icloud account under "settings, icloud "is their individual @me.com account. Set it to everything you want EXCEPT Find My Iphone. Then under "settings, mail/contacts/calendars" you set up both accounts (your @me.com which may already be there), then add another with the main appleID and enable ONLY Find My Iphone. Now when any of us log into Find My Iphone from any device with our main apple ID for the app store, all the devices show up!!!! YIPPEE. I made my own day!

I have a Windows 8 system running iTunes 11.0.2.26 with an iPad 3rd gen. running Remote app. All units on the same network and subnet. When I bring up iTunes on the windows system, I cannot see any devices, i.e. my iPad. I can ping all connected devices including the iPad from Windows 8 box. Is this a Win8 issue talking to iTunes? When I use Remote Desktop and use the Public IP of the router without the port number (49250), I am able to get into the server. However, when I try to use RDP with the [Public IP]:49250, it will not connect to the 192.168.0.30 workstation.
Right now the router is program to forward port 49250 requests to the 0.30 workstation.
I am going to work on the Inbound/Outbound Firewall settings today and see if this will resolve the issue.

That's the only thing keeping me from switching to Thunderbird. Please help - comcast's online web client is not the most bug free thing in the world.
(Note, I am setting up a new win7 system, had been using OE 6 on winXP. All content should be in iTunes on the computer, connect the new iPhone to the computer and either restore it from the most recent backup of the old iPhone or set up as new and sync the desired content to the device.

So the first account is really "yours" and you are setting her up with her own account? It helps to know this because if both are "hers" then there isn't an issue with her having full access to both accounts. If in 10 years she moves 2000 miles away and she is pretty much independent then you may not want her to have full access to your AppleID just so she can authorize a device.
