How cluster will tune the query

Hi All,
Please help me in understanding the autotrace Regarding Clusters.
I created 2 tables
tbl_master (col1 number, col2 number) with 800 rows AND unique col1.
and tbl_detail(col1 number, col2 number) with 80000 with repeated col1.
Now I created the replica of both tables with cluster on col1. as
tbl_master1 (col1 number, col2 number) with 800 rows AND unique col1. --selected from tbl_master
and tbl_detail1(col1 number, col2 number) with 80000 with repeated col1.--selected from tbl_detail
I traced the out put of the non cluster table joins ans clustered tables joins.
I set autotrace trace
and set timing on
I found that time elapsed is almost same even when COST is less. could anybody pls explain.
select a.* from tbl_master a, tbl_detail b where a.col1 =b.col1

There is a lot of information missing from your question.
1. What version of Oracle?
2. Cluster by what? Index or hash? The DDL would have helped.
and if hash was the number of has buckets determined correctly?
3. Did you use DBMS_STATS to gather relevant optimizer statistics?
4. What you posted is not an explain plan. In the future use dbms_xplan.display
http://www.psoug.org/reference/explain_plan.html
as demonstrated at the above link
All of that said ... explain plan says nothing about how long a query takes. The cost is a measure of disk i/o and, if done properly, CPU, based on Oracle's assumption of what it might do if it actually ran the query. It might do what EXPLAIN PLAN indicates and it might not.
Run a real explain plan and it might help understand what is happening but, quite frankly, with such a small number of rows the timing difference might be invisible.

  • How to tune the query...?

    Hi all,
I am having a table with millions of records and the query is taking hours
time. How to tune the query apart from doing the following things.
    1. Creating or Deleting indexes.
    2. Using Bind variables.
    3. Using Hints.
    4. Updating the Statitics regurarly.
Actually, i have asked this question in interview how to tune the query.
I told him the above 4 things. Then he told, these are not working, then
how you will tune this query.
    Thanks in advance,

    See the forum FAQ
    SQL and PL/SQL FAQ
"3. How to improve the performance of my query?"
2)What approach you take to tune query? Do you use Hints?Hints can help.
Even more helpful is writing the SQL efficiently (avoiding multiple scans of the same table, filtering early, using built-in rather than user-defined functions, ...), creating and using indexes, and, for large tables, partitioning.
Table design can have a big impact on performace.
Look for ways to do part of what you need before the query. This includes denormalizing (when appropriate), the kind of pre-digesting that often takes place in data warehouses, function-based indexes, and, starting in Oracle 11, virtual columns.
3)Where did you tune the query and what are the issue with query?Either this question is a vague summary of the entire thread, or I don't understand it. Can you re-phrase this part?
4)What is difference between RBO and CBO? where u use RBO and CBO.Basically, use RBO if you have Oracle 7 or earlier.

    Hi Siva,
Reporting statistics data is only written to the database table if BW statistics have been manually activated for the corresponding InfoProvider first. If this has not been done, it is therefore not possible to display any reporting statistics in transaction ST03.
Therefore activate the reporting statistics for all relevant InfoProviders. To do this, set the OLAP flag in the BW Administrator Workbench (transaction RSA1) in the area Tools ® BW Statistics for InfoProvider.

    Tough Ask..
Because i have done dashboarding thru scritping (Dyanamic fashion tough) ..It is very good ..But when, coming to the one you asked i have the idea how it works but cannot really tell you wich would be better.
Each Route has its own limitations. That really depends on what exaclty your client is looking after..
So if you new to xcelsius and eager to learn ..I suggest you to give a go at all those..May be you can let me know wich is the best one..
    1. QAWS,
    2. Bex Query --> Crystal Reports --> Live office --> DashBoard.
    3. Bex Query --> WebI --> Live Office --> Dashboard..
    4. Webservices consuming BI Query,
    5. Xcelsius SAP Netwever Connector.
But i suggest as of now use Xcelsius SAP netweaver Connnection...

Normally if you select a song and click get info you get this info. So you data should be in Album field or the Composer should be Bach.
If these data are inout correctly at the time of file generation, you can choose View, View Option in the Itunes Menu, Tick the Composer and the Album.
    Have a nice day!

  • How u will set the external parameters like packet size and number

How u will set the external parameters like packet size and number of parallel process.

    Dear Karthik,
    <b>ALE:</b>
Use Transaction UPSC02         -      ALE Distribution Unit: Packet Types.
    Performance Optimization for <b>ODS</b> Objects:
To ensure a good ODS object loading performance, take the following into account:
           1.      Creating SIDs
The creation of SIDs takes a long time and can be avoided in the following cases by:
Not setting the indicator for BEx Reporting if you are using the ODS object only as a data store. If you do set this indicator, SIDs are created for all new characteristic values.
If you use line items (for example, document number or time stamp) as characteristics in the ODS object, in the characteristic maintenance, indicate these as Attribute Only.
SIDs are created in parallel if <b>parallel activation</b> is switched on (see last point). They are then created with the same number of parallel processes as created for the activation.
However, if you specify a server group or a special server in customizing, these specifications are not only valid for the activation, but also for the SID creation. The creation of SIDs runs on the application server on which the batch job also runs.
           2.      DB partitioning in active data tables (technical A table)
By partitioning by database level, you can delete data from the ODS object much more quickly. As a partitioning criterion, choose the characteristic by which you want to delete.  For more information on partitioning database tables, see the database documentation (DBMS-CD). Partitioning is supported by the following databases: Oracle, DB2/390, Informix.
           3.      Indexing
Use selection criteria for queries for ODS objects. If the key fields are specified, the existing primary index is used. The more frequently accessed characteristic should appear on the left-hand side.
If you did not specify the key fields completely in the selection criteria (visible in the SQL trace), you improve the run time of the query by creating additional indexes. You can create these secondary indexes in the ODS object maintenance.
           4.      Activation of data in an ODS object
To improve system performance when activating data in the ODS object, you can make the following entries in Customizing under SAP Customizing Implementation Guide -> SAP NetWeaver -> Business Information Warehouse -> General BW Settings ->  ODS Object Settings:
the maximum number of parallel processes when activating data in the ODS object as when moving SIDs
the minimum number of data records for each data package when activating data in the ODS object, meaning you define the size of the data packages that are activated
the maximum wait time in seconds when activating data in the ODS object. This is the time when the main process (batch process) waits for the dialog process that is split before it classifies it as having failed.
the server group that needs to be used when activating the data in ODS objects in parallel You have to create the server groups beforehand using the following path: Tools -> Administration -> Network -> RFC Destination, RFC -> RFC Groups. If you do not specify anything here, then the activation runs on the server on which the batch process was started for activation. If a server from the server group is not active, then the activation is cancelled.
           5.      Loading unique data records
If you only load unique data records (meaning data records with nonrecurring key combinations) into the ODS object, then the loading performance is improved when you set the indicator Unique Data Records in the ODS object maintenance.
The records are then updated more quickly because the system no longer needs to check whether the record already exists. You do have to be sure that there duplicate records are definitely not being loaded, because this will lead to termination.
    Regards,
    Naveen.

To emphasise what hoek has said regarding dates, NEVER compare dates with dates by converting them to strings (or numbers). By doing so, you remove vital information from the optimizer.
For example, what is the difference between "31st Dec 2010" and "1st Jan 2011"? Easy, they're dates, that's 1 day.
    But what's the difference between "20101231" and "20110101"? Easy: 20110101 - 20101231 = 8870.
That makes the difference between the optimizer guessing 1 row or 8870 rows... a fairly big difference, I think you'll agree, which could well impact on the plan the optimizer chooses.
One other point - leaving the clause as dates gives:
    AND    a.custom25 BETWEEN TO_DATE('2011/01/01', 'YYYY/MM/DD')
AND TO_DATE('2011/01/31', 'YYYY/MM/DD') which excludes any dates on 31st Jan 2011 except midnight, eg. 10am on 31st Jan 2011 won't be returned by your query.
If you're after rows for a given month, then you could do:
    AND    trunc(a.custom25, 'mm') = TO_DATE('01/01/2011', 'dd/mm/yyyy')

  • How should I tune the PID to improve 'Jog Axis' reponse?

In MAX the 'Jog Axis' reponse as the accessory.
When decelerating the velocity, it exceed zero more to a large negative velocity. And this makes the settling time long.
How should I tune the PID to disappear the phenomena? Anybody can tell me?
    Thanks a lot.

Hi, Jochen. Thanks for your answer. Now I try to express my question in detail.
    System: 2_D position table (50mm*50mm)
    hardware:  PCI7344 + 2 voice coil motor + driver(no feedback,just a amplifier) + 0.5micron encoder(Renishaw) as the position feedback
    software: Labview7.1 + MAX3.1
Aim: To get the setting time of single axis lower than 40ms (even if there is some overshot)
The document you mentioned I have read before. When I tune the servo,'Auto tune' can't get meaningful parameters. So all the time I tune it manually.
1, About Step reponse: I can get a setting time lower than 40ms(step 1000 counts + 200 sample) by accident, but the same PID I can't get the good result all the time.
2,When I use 'start motion.flx' moving 6000 counts (400000 counts/s+32000000 counts/s^2+S curve time 3) or use 'Jog axis',the setting time are more than 100ms (see axis.jpg). I try to increase the Td or Kd. It can change the overshot, but the setting time is not ideal.  IF Kd too large, the system will unstable.  I think maybe the aim is unpractical, right? Jochen, has you tune some table whose setting time lower than 40ms using 7344?
3,what's the relationship between 'step reponse' and 'Jog axis'.Should I tune the PID according to 'Step reponse' or 'Jog axis'? (In 'Jog axis', the velocity and Acceleration and Deceleration also play an important role.)
4,The driver have no current feedback.I guess it is an important problem.what'a your opinion?

The 15" Retina's will have better performance than any 13" Retina. Not only do the 15" machines have dedicated GPU's, but they also have quad-core processors, whereas the 13" Retina's only have dual-core processors.

  • How we will know the amount of issued P.O.

    Hi All please suggest me,
When we issue a Purchase Order then there is accounting effect or entry.
If there is no accounting effect how fi user  will understand from system how much Purchase Order
has been issued. Because according to that the accountant have to arrange the fund to meet those
expenses . Please tell me how it will show the cash flow  of the company in the system .
    Best Regards

    Dear:
No accounting entry is generated at the time of PO creation. FI is only updated at MIGO and MIRO. However you can cater your requirement from ME2L.
