How could I config TNS to use SQLPLUS in Windows NT

I have installed the ORACLE in Linux, and I installed the Oracle8i Client on a Windows NT computer. But I could not use the SQLPLUS in Windows NT. The error message is: ORA-12560: TNS: Protocal Adapter error.
I have test the connection between the Windows NT and Linux computer, and it seems good. Alos, I can start the OEM on Windows NT computer, and it runs ok.

It sounds like Net8 wasn't set up properly on the NT client. Run the Oracle Net8 Assistant to tell the NT client how to connect to your Linux server.

dbms_utility.compile_schema will compile all the invalid objects in a schema, including the invalid package bodies. If you only want to compile the invalid package bodies, you could write your own dynamic SQL stored procedure to do that using the user_source view, but that's a lot more effort for a very minimal benefit.

How could I ADD ITEM by using API

I have Portal 9.0.3 installed.
I want to call wwsbr_api from a javascript code (HTML portlet) to add a text item to a region, but I have some problem using this API:
1; I don't know how could I get the p_caid, the p_folder_id and the region_id
I found out that p_caid can be find WWSBR_SITES.ID. Is this correct?
2; when I've tried to call this API from address line I've got a 404 ERROR (but it might have been casued by the wrong attribute values)
So I need to know:
- How could I find out the correct IDs?
- How could I call wwsbr_api.add_item function from a javascript?

I would like to create the stream object between applet and server only once with urlConnection.openConnection() and use it to write objects to it indefinitely without reinstantiating it or getting another connection with urlConnection.openConnection() and repeatedly query for another input / output stream with servletOutputStream = new ObjectOutputStream (servletLinkup.getOutputStream()); How could this be done?

The thing is, you need to ask good questions to receive good answers.Have you ever written a servlet vladimp? More specifically, have you ever written client - server code and have the two sides send objects to each other over the HTTP protocol?
This question is directed towards those developers who have done similar code and may have suggestions regarding this post.

Why do you think the overhead of wrapping ObjectInput/OutputStreams
around the URL stream is large?Why do you believe I care if the overhead is large? My question is about maintaining a persistent connection to a servlet not overhead.
Have you made use of OutputObjectStream.reset()?This is actually a legitimate question (even though it's an ObjectOutputStream not a OutputObjectStream). The answer is YES I tried and NO it didnt' work. Could be that anything sent has to be followed up by a .flush() or/and a .close() to actually trigger the stream to send the object. At least according to some sources (I'm trying to verify this).

I managed to create 2 databases with 2 different ORACLE_SID, (e.g. A & B)
my question is, is it possible to have both of this Databases mounted and opened??
here is the step i have done so far:
- go to /ORACLE_HOME/bin
- I started my one and only LISTENER - ./lsnrctl start LISTENER
- ORACLE_SID=A
- ./sqlplus / as sysdba
- SQL>STARTUP
Everything went well, until i set another ORACLE_SID (in another terminal) to ORACLE_SID=B, and when i tried to start it up using SQLPLUS, i get this "Segmentation Fault - core dumped".
It seems like i start the 2nd database wrongly, is there proper way to do this?
i need the 2 databases (SID A & SID B) to be running concurrently.

So first of all , I set the oracle SID to AM -> Start a Listener -> start sqlplus as sysdba -> STARTUP

How could I display a dialog attached to a window?

If there is a way to do this, how could I, in Xcode 5, cocoa applescript? Something like:

I know sheets can do this, but this seems a lot more simple, because I wouldn't have to design a window and link it.

You don't necessarily need to create another window for simple alerts, you can use the NSAlert class. I think there is still some weirdness with sheets, so the easiest way to do a sheet would be to use Myriad Helpers, which has a category that adds some methods to the NSAlert class, for example:

Failover - How to achieve a transparent failover using SQLPlus

This is the behavior I see from an Oracle Client session which is to be expected if I read RAC: Frequently Asked Questions [ID 220970.1] see below
(1) SQLPlus session connected to NodeA
(2) NodeA - Clusterware services stopped
(3) NodeA-vip has failed over to Node B
(4) SQLPlus session receives an error
(5) SQLPlus establish new connection to NodeA-vip
My question is how is a transparent SQLPLus session failover achieved as illustrated in [ID 339107.1] see below

The goal is application availability.
When a node fails, the VIP associated with it is automatically failed over to some other node. When this occurs, the following things happen.
(1) VIP detects public network failure which generates a FAN event.
(2) the new node re-arps the world indicating a new MAC address for the IP.
(3) connected clients subscribing to FAN immediately receive ORA-3113 error or equivalent. Those not subscribing to FAN will eventually time out.
(4) New connection requests rapidly traverse the tnsnames.ora address list skipping over the dead nodes, instead of having to wait on TCP-IP timeouts
Without using VIPs or FAN, clients connected to a node that died will often wait for a TCP timeout period (which can be up to 10 min) before getting an error.
As a result, you don't really have a good HA solution without using VIPs and FAN. The easiest way to use FAN is to use an integrated client with Fast Connection Failover (FCF) such as JDBC, OCI, or ODP.NET.

With Oracle RAC 10g or higher, each node requires a VIP. With Oracle RAC 11g Release 2, 3 additional SCAN vips are required for the cluster. When a node fails, the VIP associated with the failed node is automatically failed over to one of the other nodes in the cluster. When this occurs, two things happen:
1. The new node re-arps the world indicating a new MAC address for this IP address. For directly connected clients, this usually causes them to see errors on their connections to the old address;
2. Subsequent packets sent to the VIP go to the new node, which will send error RST packets back to the clients. This results in the clients getting errors immediately.
In the case of existing SQL conenctions, errors will typically be in the form of ORA-3113 errors, while a new connection using an address list will select the next entry in the list. Without using VIPs, clients connected to a node that died will often wait for a TCP/IP timeout period before getting an error. This can be as long as 10 minutes or more. As a result, you don't really have a good HA solution without using VIPs.
With Oracle RAC 11g Release 2, you can delegate the management of the VIPs to the cluster. If you do this, the Grid Naming Service (part of the Oracle Clusterware) will automatically allocated and manage all VIPs in the cluster. This requires a DHCP service on the public network.

the path is for creating new delivery types which can be processed thru txn vl01n, vl10b etc. when you want different delivery types to handle differnt sales document types.to deal with say free samples exports sales from depots etc differently.

I would like to work with Mce3 and mce7 to analyse the performance of my purchase activities... Although i have gotten problem to populate the LIS table.
I accessed s012 table in se16n transaction. I noticed there are some datas in this table, but it is not necessary correct, probably because it has not atualized correct.
The field theoric quantity is Ok! So, any order I create in sap the Lis can read and my quantity change. It shows that I dont have a connection problem properly.
The data just is added in table after Migo , miro... when is it insert ?
Have anyone used the LIS informations to help me ? What is my configuration problem?

if you have not changed the update rules for S012, then it just works as designed by SAP.
However, this may not always be the way users would like to see the data.
The goods receipt is allocated to the period of PO creation, and not to the period when the receipt actually happened.
So many companies have created a S912 structure and amended the update rules to their own needs.
