How could I modify change ESS screen fields?

How could I modify the labels, of a webdynpro from ess. For Example in ESS's option "Working time" in the menu "Leave Request", we want to change the label "Type of Leave" for "Type of Abscense".

Hi, by using iview Personalization:
Go to Content Admin > Portal Content, look for your iview. Open in preview mode and press Ctrl + Right Click under the field to change its properties.

Hi,
Create one Search Help in the SE11 for the particular Field that u want to display. In the Screen(Transaction SE51),For that Text Box in the Attributes,in Dict Tab ->Search Help Field give that Search Help Name.
For Eg,
If u want Purchase Order Numbers in that F4 Help.Create one Search Help by giving Table Name as EKKO & Search Help Parameter as EBELN with Lpos & Rpos as 0 & 1.Save & Activate it.
Give this Search Help Name in Dict Tab ->Search Help Field of that Screen Attributes.

Hi Anil..
We can change the Text of a Pushbutton dynamically.
For this:
1. Declare a Global variable with the Same name as the Button in TOP include
Eg: Data: Button1(30).
2. In the PBO module of the Screen assign the Text to this variable:
 Eg:
 Module set_text OUTPUT.
 Button1 = 'This is the text'.
 ENDMODULE.

Re: Changes to screen field date was not updated

Hi,
I had a dialog screen showing a valid from date as 10.10.2007. I changed it to 15.10.2007 and click on other details tab. when I returned, it is still showing the old values.
When I did a DEBUG, upon changing and hitting enter key, the new dates for the screen field is not changed. it is still showing the old date for the screen field.
why is it so?
I think this is the cause of why the old values is still displaying. How can I get the field updated to my internal table. It need to be filled with the new values before I can updated to my internal table and then re-displayed again.

As i understatnd this field is in TABLE Control.
In that case you must Update the Internal table in the PAI .. Inside LOOP .. ENDLOOP.
Process After Input.
LOOP AT ITAB.
 Module Update_itab. "Calling the module
ENDLOOP.
In Module pool
 Module Update_itab INPUT.
 modify itab from wa index TABCON-CURRENT_LINE.
 ENDMODULE.
Note: Here WA is the work area of the Screen fields and TABCON is the Table control variable.

How and Where to change ESS payslip property as READ only Mode

Hi,
We are SAP ECC5.0 and using EP6 for ESS payslip. We have a problem
launching ESS payslip for those employees who have Acrobat Editor and
Reader installed. One can actually change the payslip information via
Acrobat Editor when click onto PRINT button.
However, for those without Acrobat Editor installed in the PC, we do
not have such problem. Please advise how to resolve this.
Was told to change ESS payslip property as READ only Mode. Unable to find this in the configuration setting.

How position the cursor in selected screen field insted of defualt field

Hi All,
Can you pls let me know , how to position the cursor in selected selection-screen filed. My requirement is i have 3 selection-screen fields, By default cursor is positioned on field screen field, but i want the cursor to be positioned at 3rd screen field to enter input, i want to do this coz i am filling first 2 screen fields with default values, so i need to position the cursor at 3 rd screen filed. let me know if it is possible to achieve this.

I saw that in the SCREEN Structure there aren't any fields to set the position. Is there a Function Module or a Class to do that?

1. R/3 abap does not allow this facility.
2. However, if we use a custom control /container,
 then there one property LEFT, TOP,
which is avaialbe in the OO hierarchy.

3. This 2 has got this property
4. we can use like this.

How to identify the change in the field of a screen

In a program , i have a screen 100 with some PBO logic and PAI. sample of PAI code
chain:
structure-A,
structure-*,
module check_mandatory_fields
module return: ( this will set screen to 0 and then leave statement)
endchain
in one of the subroutines we have
if sy-batch is initial
call screen 102.
else
endif.
perform ...
perform ...
The issue is for some records the processing goes to the PAI of the screen and then returns to the calling program correctly, However few cases it never enters the PAI, there by goes to the main routine which calls this FM.
Questions
1. How do I identify there is a change in the structure-A or Structure-B values. Beacuse if check the values are the same.
2. How do i force it to always enter the PAI irrespective of the change.

Thanks for the reply.
Currently the issue there is no change in any of the fields. I think thsi is the reason why the PAI is not called. Only in the PAI we have set screen to 0 and leave.
Without any change in the screen elements how do i force it to enter the PAI
or
when i call a screen statement as Call 102, how do i ensure that it returns to the call routine back irrespective of the PAI being executed.

ESS screen Fields changes - screen personalization

Hello All,
I have come across a problem and I am wondering some one could assist me out with.
On reading from the our SDN forum , it was proposed solution that if i want to change the same of some field from portal i should could go to portal content + select the I-view+ right click+CTRL and then from fields name I can change the name or hide the name.
I have hide some fields and it is sucessfully hidden for all users of ESS but unfortunatly fields for which I have changed their name they are not shown to all the users . insted the only user to which changed name is shown is the our functional consultant users where as all employee users can view the fields with same old name.
I would appreacite if some one could guide me on it ......

Let say, you would like to do personalization for india address scenario.
Please make sure that you do personalization at role level.
Logon with super admin role.
Content admin-> portal content->... ->employee self service > roles->xx ess role->open.
Open persinfo india address scenario and then preview it.
Select the field you would like to personalize.
Now Press control + right click.
Set as invisible Yes and set it as final.
Apply and ok.
Now for all ess users assigned with role "xx ess role" your personalization will work.

How can I modify the logon screen on the portal

We have designed some BI queries, when we open Query Designer and execute them (CTRL + R) an Internet Explorer open and ask us to log on this BI Portal.
On this Portal login screen, I can only provide my user name and password.
We would like the user to be able to select the language and to change is password.
How can we enable those changes ?

Although in iSQL*Plus 9.0.1 you can't modify the default
login HTML, you can create your own static HTML "login"

I have a requirement to refresh the value in selection screen.while i run the report in selection screen i selecting one variant for look the output if i use some other field value with same variant without save its working fine i am avle to see the data but while i come back to again selection screen and selecting some other variant that extra add value is not getting refresh its showing with new variant.Its happening for only one variant not for all if i select some other variant then its getting refresh value in same field.Any one can help me for this issue.

Hi,
That means, I believe - the value that is "not changing" is saved in the particular variant. You can easily verify it by starting the report without variant and then selecting the variant in question. Remove the value from screen and save the variant again. Don't forget to check of variant needs to be transported from development system...

How to get values of selection screen fields in the POV event

I have two radio buttons r1,r2 and a field file_name on selection screen.
I have written At selection screen on value-request for the field file_name. Based on the selection of radio buttons I have to display different screens when f4 for field_name is pressed.
Unfortunately the values of r1 or r2 are not populated in the AT selection screen on value-request event.
Can any one tell me if there is a way to obtain the values of r1 or r2 in the AT selection screen on value-request event.

How could I Write data into a field in Oracle whose data type is VARCHAR2

The target data I want to write into Oracle is in http://tw.yahoo.com/info/utos.html.
Now, these data is stored in Mysql database and the field which stores these data uses "Text" as its data type.
I want to derive these data from mysql database and store them into a field of oracle database.
In oracle, I create field whose data type is varchar2(4000) to store these data.
I use JSP to derive data from mysql and insert into oracle through JDBC.
But the result of the page shows me that "javax.servlet.ServletException: Data size bigger than max size for this type: 25623".
Please anyone could help to resolve this problem?

My hunch is that the problem is that VARCHAR2(4000), but default, allocates 4000 bytes of storage. Depending on your database character set, a single character may require up to 4 bytes of storage.
If you are on 9i, you can declare the column VARCHAR2(4000 CHAR) to allocate 4000 characters of storage. You can also set NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS to CHAR, which will cause Oracle to assume that your declarations are in characters rather than bytes.
