How do Delta updates work?

Hello all,
This is just a basic question on what I would need to do make delta updates to a data target.
For example, say that I loaded an InfoCube with data using a generic datasource I created. The DataSource gets its data from a custom Z Table.
When I load the data in the cube the first time, that's great. But let's say 3 more records are added in the Z Table, how do I get just those 3 records into the cube?
I'm assuming that I must maintain some sort of setting in the table? Or do I have to write a FM to make a custom extract? I haven't the slightest clue, so any info is greatly appreciated.

How to Delta Update in Flat Files

Hi all,
I would like to know is delta update is supported in flat files ? If yes how does this work ..... is there a SAP white paper or document on this

Yes Delta upload is supported by Flat files..........In this case........when the delta data records are loaded by flat file......... This delta type is only used is 'F'.......for DataSources for flat file source systems. Flat files are imported to the PSA when you execute the InfoPackage. The staging process then begins.........The delta queue is not used here.
As Siggi already told in the Following thread......post your flatfile data to an ods object with update mode overwrite. The ods object will do the delta for you then.........

I guess you want to terminate the workprocesses.
Go to SM50 select the update process you want to terminate then in menu bar goto <b>Process </b> and then select <b>Cancel without core</b>.it might take some time but the workprocess will get terminated.
In case it takes too much of a time kill it at OS level.
Please award points accordingly.

How does Full Update works in BI 7.0???

Dear Experts,
I have a question on BI 7.0 Full Updtae.. How does it works exactly... My question is am loading data from Flat-file as a Full Update... Once If load the data through infopackage.. As we all knew dat. It brings the data to PSA.. later when i run the DTP it gets loaded into Data Targert.. Suppose if wanna load the same file with few changes.. Should i delete the request from PSA.. If not, Itz getting updated with duplicate records.. Suppose, If i delete the request from PSA and reload the same file with changes.. Then itz getting loaded successfully...
Kindly reply to my query.. Answering getz appreciated...

Delta DTP fetches unloaded requests only assuming you have started off with a delta DTP.
Only changed records in the flatfile may not be loaded as DTP fetches all data in the new request into target.
Can you stage a DSO ..will the overwrite functionality suit your business needs?

You can start off with a delta DTP.
Or
Run a pseudo DTP after the Full DTP for deltas to follow.
Or
Delete the request in the source if you are using Full DTP.

How does auto update work in AIR 2.5?

Hi,
We are about to deploy Adobe AIR Runtime 2.5 in our organization.
To do this we use the following command line
AdobeAIRInstaller.exe -silent -eulaAccepted
This works great. But I am not sure how to disable the automatic updates.
When reading the Adobe AIR configuration guide, http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/admin/WS485a42d56cd1964167ea49bd124ef17d52a-7ff5.html it says I should create the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\AIR\UpdateDisabled and set it to 1.
But when I run the AIR SettingsManager application after I set this registry key it says that automatic updates are enabled.
And if I choose to disable automatic updates from the tool it creates the file %APPDATA%\Adobe\AIR\updateDisabled.
How can I make sure that automatic updates are disabled for all users on all the computers we deploy Adobe AIR Runtime 2.5 to?
Since we are doing an enterprise deployment it is not really an option to ask each and every user to run AIR SettingsManager every time they logon to a new computer

It scans but finds nothing also no other operation. does this show there is no update or something wrong.

hi, I'm using an application that is only supported on safari version 3.x - and I'm told if I accept the automatic updates from apple it will automagically update me to safari 4 without me being able to choose not to upgrade safari (but accept all the other patches/updates) can this be true ??

Down to About This Mac. It will tell you what OS you're on.
When you're using Safari, go up to the main Safari menu next to the Apple icon,
and "About Safari" will tell you what version Safari you're using.

How delta update works for info cube
When you are updateing the data to cube from ods then data would extracted from change log their delta pointer get setup in the source request (in Source you can check the option beside the reqest says updated to target object.... it means the records are updated to target hence we would not update the same request )
Incase of PSA to cube Also in the PSA request get stamped as last updated .
Regarding Generic Datasource
When we don't find any standard extractor then we can go for Generic(if i want information sales along with finance information in a data source then generally we dont get standard one hence we can go for generic DS)

for Delta capturing you can use
Timestamp(if the table has time stamp filed so it can stamp the last changed record in that table hence it is easy to get delta based on the time stamp)Calday- (If the table doesn't have the Timestamp filed then search for Calday where you can stamp the delta based on the date when documents are changed )
Numericpointer : If the table doesn't above both then we go for this option where you can the numeric value change stamp )

How does the Delta functionality works while updating Infocube from PA

Hi Gurus
How does the Delta functionality works when you send forecast to the Info cube from the Planning Area.
As I have weekly based planning, every week we have to update the forecast into the Cube. If I update every week into the Cube , then the values are going to append in the Info cube.
Shall I create ODS in between the Planning area and the Info cube .
(or)
Any other method ?
Please Suggest.

Data Extraction from planning area to infocube usually its supports for full update only, when u r going to load the data from planning area to cube ,it deletes the previous data and u vil get the fresh data, this is the best method performance wise,
if u want to use the delta functionality u can go for planning area to Dso, Dso to cube, it vil supports the delta functionality, but it vil degrades the system performance,

I've moved my Aperture library to another computer, and masters are referencing an old path name. How can I update these references? Reloctating masters does not work in this case :(

I've moved my Aperture library from one computer to another using Finder.
I merged the library with one which was already on the computer.
Now, the photos I imported have reference to the old path name on my old computer.
How can I update these references as "Relocate Masters" does not work in this case?

Just one suggestion to be able to reconnect all at once:
Create a smart album containing the images with missing masters:
File -> New -> Smart Album, and add a rule: File Status is "Missing" (or File Status is "offline")
Then select the images in this album and go to the File menu:
and select: File -> Locate referenced File
If you are lucky, Aperture will reconnect all at once, if you point the first image version to its counterpart.

I have not yet seen any official response to the question: "Is the Apple AV Composite cable fully supported with 30pin connector devices upgraded with iOS7 - specifically ? - eg. iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s"
If it is not currently supported is that then due to a bug / oversight and in that case is it something that will be fixed in the near future?

How to make added custom field Delta mechanism work for LO Cookpit?

We appended a new custome field into extraction structure of the LO Cookpit datasource 2LIS_02_ITM through RSA6. And then run CMOD to write the exit code to populate the value and it works fine. But after we read Roberto's Weblog:
/people/sap.user72/blog/2005/02/14/logistic-cockpit--when-you-need-more--first-option-enhance-it , find the enhancement we did can't make the Delta mechanism works if only this new field gets changed in a record, and the change cannot be reflected on BW.
In order to make the Delta mechansim works, one option is to append the custom field into one of the LIS Communication Structure MCEKKO of 2LIS_02_ITM extraction structure and then write the enhancement code to this LIS Communication Structure. In this way, the custom field can be treated like standard field that whenever it gets changed, the Delta mechanism or the user exit will be triggered. The enhancement for this LIS Communication Struture is LEINS001.
Now we've got two problems when doing the above enhancements of the LIS Communication structure:
1. Maintain extraction structure problem in LBWE:
We added a custom field, e.g., called ZZZ in LIS Communication structure MCEKKO (Purchasing Document Header) by creating a new custom append structure and add the field ZZZ into it, then activate the new append structure, but get warning msg like "Field name DUMMY is reserved (Do not use structure as include in DB table)".
We do find a field called DUMMY in the structure MCEKKO. How to get rid of the warning msg and successfully activate the new custom append structure with the new field ZZZ?
You could say that we can ignore the warning msg, but why the new custom field appended can not be seen from the right side pool of the Maintain Extract Structure in LBWE? We need to make the new custom field shows up in the right side pool and then drag it over to the left side frame and to activate the extraction structure to change it. But now it doesn't show up in the right frame pool!
2. Refer to Sanyam's weblog
/people/sanyam.kapur/blog/2005/04/30/custom-fields-and-bw-extractors-making-a-mixed-marriage-work-part-ii, there is a sample code inside this article which tells us how the sample code looks like to write this LIS Communicaton structure enhancement to make the Delta mechanism works, below is the code we modified to suit our needs, but don't know if it would work?

We have exactly the same problem. Did you solve it? If you did, could you please tell us how you did it? We neither see our field in LBWE. Our field is a Z field from a Z table.
