How do I automatically number rows in Numbers for iPad?

How do I automatically number rows in Numbers for iPad?

Hi James,
On the iPod I can only insert what is on the clipboard but I can insert however many rows I have there. Is it working differently for you? Benjoon seemed to think that he could not do this in Numbers. He was ruling Numbers out because of it. He doesn't need to do that because of this issue.
If I was needing to insert multiple blank rows often I might keep a table of blank rows or just some blank rows at the end of the working table that I could copy/paste. This is no different than Numbers on the Mac.

  • Sort a row in Numbers for iPad

    I have a list of names along the header row of a table in Numbers for iPad. I'd like to put them in alphabetical order from left to right. Bearing in mind that I'm a newby to apple, could anyone help? (If I were using MS excel I'd use sort data and set it row)
    I have considered transposing the row to a column and I can sort a column, but the transpose command is proving tricky (Again if I were using MS Excel I would use paste special transpose.)

    Generally, you are more likely to get an answer if you post in the iWork for iOS forum at

  • How do I set page margins in Numbers for iPad 1.5

    I was attempting to reduce the margins on my first spreadsheet, and I can't seem to find a way to adjust margins or paper size in Numbers 1.5 for iPad.  Thanks for any help!

    I have this same problem. And to make it worse, it's not even the (US) universally-accepted standard, letter 8.5"x11".

  • How do I add a trendline in numbers for iPad?

    I want to add a trendline to a 2D scatter chart in numbers on my iPad Air. Can anyone help me with this?

    if you want to add a linear best fit line you can get the parameters for that line from your existing data and make a NEW series:
    Using my previous charts you can add a new table (in this case below the chart) used to calculate the slope (m) and the y-intercept (b) for each of the original series.  Then you can use those two values with the original X values to construct a best fit line.  The bottom table is named "Best Fit Constants" and is constructed:
    B1=INDEX(LINEST(Data :: C,Data :: B,TRUE), 2)
    B2=INDEX(LINEST(Data :: C,Data :: B,TRUE), 1)
    D1=INDEX(LINEST(Data :: E,Data :: D,TRUE), 2)
    D2=INDEX(LINEST(Data :: E,Data :: D,TRUE), 1)
    The original table (which I named "Data") is constructed as follows:
    F2=B2
    G2=Best Fit Constants :: $B$1+Best Fit Constants :: $B$2*F2
    H2=D2
    I2=Best Fit Constants :: $D$1+Best Fit Constants :: $D$2*H2
    select F2 thru I2 and fill down as needed.  Expand the graph range by selecting the chart,
    then dragging the data range controls (in the table) to include the best fit data

  • How to open password protected files in Numbers for iPad?

    In my company, there are formats created in Excel 2010 which have password-protetected cells. Neither Numbers, nor Doccuemts to Go can't open them.
    The workaround is having someone open the file in my office and re-save it in an older version, but it messes up with the formatting and it's simply not a practical solution.
    Documents to Go still doesn't support Office 2010 password protected files. Numbers niether, so does anyone know of any app that can solve my problem?

    Go to the App Store on your iPad and download Adobe Acrobat DC (formerly called Reader).
    Open it and click on Help. Then click on Handbook. Read the section on "Open PDFs in Acrobat DC"

  • How do I add new currencies to numbers for iPad?

    Hi,
    I'd like to add a currency not currently in the drop down list as a currency. Specifically "N" for the Nigerian Naira. Is this possible and how would I do this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hey,
    Thanks for the reply. I should have specified that I was looking for a way the symbol could be an option under currency. This so I don't have to manually change each symbol to my desired one. However, if this isn't possible I understand.

  • Default cell format in Numbers for iPad

    Is there a way to assure that when I insert a row in Numbers for iPad, that I get the text keyboard (and not the numbers keyboard) when I double-tap the cell to edit it?

    As long as the row is formatted as text you will get the text keyboard and not the number, date or formula keyboard. Generally what happens when you insert a row it copies the format of the cell above.
    I have only had trouble occasionally when using a form and the cell is not formatted the way I need it to be. Usually when that has happened I have been inserting and deleting rows in an almost random fashion.
    When I am in the sheet itself it is easy to tap the "T" to get the text input.

  • How can I label my rows on numbers so I can keep a running count? Dave

    How can I label my rows on numbers so I can keep a running count?
    i would like to number from 1 to 150  by highlighting and use a function command
    Dave
                   Name               Address          Email
    Ex      1
              2
              3
              4
              150

    Add a column to the left of column A (it will become column A).
    Assuming you want to start with the first "name" in Row 2 (and NOT number the header row):
    Two methods:
    1.
    In cell A2, enter =ROW()-1
    Grab the Fill Handle (small circle, bottom right of the selected cell) and drag down to fil the formula into the rest of the cells in the column.
    If the formula is placed in ALL non-header row cells in the column, it will automatically fill into any rows added to the table.
    If rows are inserted or removed, numbers below the inserted/removed row will be automatically adjusted.
    2.
    In cell A2, enter a 1
    In cell A3, enter a 2
    Select both cells.
    Grab the Fill Handle and drag down to the rest of the cells in the column.
    These are fixed numbers. They will not be automatically filled into new rows added to the table, nor will they automatically update when rows are inserted into the table or removed from the table.
    To add more numbers, select the last two cells currently containing numbers, drag the Fill Handle down.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Does anyone knows how to highlight every other row in numbers mac

    Does anyone knows how to highlight every other row in numbers and are there any good tutorials out there???

    Hi Lee,
    Select a non-header cell in the table.
    Open the Inspector and choose the Table Inspector.
    Click to check the 'Alternating Row Color' box in the Cell Background section.
    Click the Color well beside the check box to open the Color pane.
    Choose a colour.
    The alternating colours are applied only to the non-header rows and non-header columns in your table.

  • How can i duplicate a row in numbers

    How do you duplicate a row in numbers?

    Hi Rusty,
    I worry that this may be a trick question, but here goes:
    Click on the Row tab to select the entire row.
    Command-C to Copy the Row to the Clipboard
    Insert > Copied Rows
    Or, did you have something else in mind?

  • Anyone know how to go to the last active row in Numbers for iOS ? There is no Home or End key on iPad.

    Anyone know how to navigate through a spreadsheet in Numbers for iOS on an iPad. Specifically to go to the end of an active file since there is no End key.

    see if any of this works for you
    On a smaller keyboard, such as the wireless, or on portables, you can use fn- left arrow for home and fn- right arrow for end.
    On a Mac, 'home and 'end' take you to the beginning and the end of document, respectively. Getting to the beginning or end of a line is done with cmd- leftarrow and cmd- rightarrow. Emacs shortcuts, such a ctrl-a and ctrl- e also work in most places, where the app is done right.

  • I have created a spreadsheet on numbers for ipad with a list of customers as a drop down menu. How can i make their address appear underneath when i select the customer?

    I have created a spreadsheet on numbers for ipad with a list of customers as a drop down menu. How can i make their address appear underneath when I select the customer?
    iselect the customer?

    Hi bazza,
    We won't be able to put the address from a formula into the same cell that you enter the customer's name. We can put the address in the cell under the customers name.
    First let's take James advice and concatenate the address in the address table.
    Here is the formula in G2
    =CONCATENATE(B2&"
    ",C2&"
    ",D2&"
    ",E2)
    It shows this way because after I clicked on B2 and typed [&"] (no brackets) I typed option-return
    This gives you your new line. Then I typed the closing ". I repeated this for the rest of the address.
    Next we want to bring this to your order sheet. I prefer using the two formulas OFFSET and MATCH instead of VLOOKUP.
    base tells OFFSETwhere to start counting from. Click A1.
    row-offset is for the row. we will use MATCH() -1 to give us the row.
    What MATCH does is give you the row number where something is found and you can specify an exact match. I usually construct the MATCH formula first and then cut and paste it into OFFSET. MATCH looks like this: MATCH(A2,Table 1::A,0). A2 is what we are looking for, Table 1A::A is where we are looking (the entire column A), and 0 means we want an exact match. Can you see it inside the OFFSET formula? Notice that we had to subtract 1 from its result.
    column-offset tells OFFSET which column A=0 so we want 6.
    we ignore "rows", "colomns" we don't need them.
    If this seems like too much, just break it down into small pieces.
