How do I create a drag and drop interaction using Captivate 8?

I cannot figure out how to create a drag and drop interaction in Captivate 8. Options to do this are greyed-out.

You can only use D&D in normal projects, not in responsive projects.

  • Captivate 8 drag and drop interaction not working

Hi, I am working with Captivate 8 and created a drag and drop interaction using the drag and drop wizard. For some reason when I preview the interaction some of my drag sources work and others do not. I have searched high and low for what I may be doing wrong but I can't figure it out. I created types when making the interaction so it doesn't make sense that some should work and others do not. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Ok, so I inserted the screen shots below. I realize the items are overlapping in the wiring. I did change that and try it but it still didn't work. Maybe I need to completely rebuild it?  I created types so that 9 would go to one target and 6 to the other.Thank you so much  for your quick help on all of this.

  • Drag and Drop Interaction Scoring

    Hi-
I've created a drag and drop interaction for a quiz with four
objects. Each object has to match up to the correct spot in order
for the user to get the answer correct. I've done this type of
interactions before successfully and not had a problem with
    scoring.
But this time .. the only thing I can see that's different
about this quiz is that I'm not assigning any points in the "Score"
field - I am instead using the Status of Correct Response alone.
I've found that this interaction scoring works perfectly for my
other quiz interactions but there seems to be a problem with the
drag and drop - when the user moves the objects around and
temporarily places an object in the wrong (or maybe even correct)
spot, each of these movements is being racked up as correct in this
interaction So, if there's an ambivalent user they're going to get
many more points than is even supposed to be possible.
I can't see anything different that I've done with this
interaction other than the scoring. I changed to correct response
scoring because it was the only way I could figure out how to reset
the quiz score after the user leaves and comes back. (using
    TotalCorrect)
Anyway, I'm open to ideas - even if it's not the scoring -
    any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks -
    Cammia

Don't use the quiz knowledge objects and code yourself...?
You'll find many on here who can help you with hand coding
    and probably none
who know much about implementing those KO's who can answer
    questions. The
reason is if you know enough to be able to answer questions,
    you know enough
to know that these KO's are a short term crutch that cause
    long term
    problems.

  • Advanced Feedback with Drag and Drop Interaction

    Hello,
I am trying to create a drag and drop interaction that will blend in a "thumbs up" or a "smiley" after each dragable has been correctly placed. The dragables in my interaction are medical terms and the drop sources are smart shape boxes. Each drop source has been assigned one correct answer, so that when the correct answer has been dragged a "success caption" appears immediately. The opposite occurs with an incorrecty dragged term. I figured, I need a "code" that
askes each dropable if it is the last one to be answered, and when answered correctly, will show the "smiley"
checks if all other dragables have been placed correctly
Since I lack the basic coding knowledge, I am having a hard time trying to figure this one out. Thanks for the help, again!
    -Nik

    Hi Jay,
Yes, could create such a scenario, but the Submit button is not used in that case, because the feedback will appear immediately when a drag object has been placed on the target. Is that OK?
    Here the work flow:
Besides the object, create all the feedback text containers that you need, correct and incorrect and label them so that they are easily recognizable. I labeled them FB_1, FB_2... because my objects were Drop1, Drop2...
Make those feedbacks initially invisible and group them in Gr_FB
Create the drag&drop in the normal way with one correct link
Select the target and in the in the D&D panel, click on the Accept button, change the settings like this
The advanced actions are pretty simple, standard, with two statements: Hide Gr_FB and Show FB_n  (with the appropriate feedback container - you cannot use Shared actions in this dialog).
In the D&D panel, choose Infinite for the number of attempts and uncheck the Failure caption.

  • Drag and Drop Interactive Game

I am creating a drag and drop interactive game. I cannot post
the file because it is for work and is business sensitive. Here is
the problem I am having. I have multiple frames in the game. I have
correctly entered the actionscript that allows for the drag and
drop feature and to go to the next frame. However when the game
goes to the next frame, the last drag and drop item stays on the
screen. Is there a further actionscript I need to enter that clears
the screen before the next frame?

can u use the as like this:
    mcname_mc._visible = false;

  • How to create a drag and drop video playlist Help please

I would like to learn how to create a drag and drop video playlist.
I think the most common example is youtube.
I already have partial of the work but I am stuck with my preliminary knowledge of Flash.
    What I am saying is:
I have a *.fla project that have the galleries for video and pictures.
But this process is done from the back end.
I would like to make it more dynamic for the visitors.
    For example:
    1. Create a visitor video (pictures) playlist
    2. Drag and drop into the playlist
    3. To be able to create different playlists (Playlist 1, "My favorite playlist", "Watch later", etc)
If someone knows or want to guide me where or how to find this request, I'd appreciate it so much.
If the forum think that this need to be address to a expertise ($). I am also welling to hear that and where to go.
If someone is interesting in this project please send me a note to show the prelimary project.
    Thanks

Yeah that is the general idea but that is more of a "lift and drop", i want to add the same thing as when you:
Right click this window in the taskbar (assuming your using windows) when the window is not maximized and click "move" then it changes the cursor icon and allows u to move the window around and while you move it around it shows the window moving, not a click and release feature.
So i want that ability without having to click on the title bar, if you know what i mean.

  • How do I edit a drag and drop action in CP8?

Once the drag-and-drop interaction is created, I cannot open the wizard again. In CP7, it was possible to edit the answers in properties. How do I do it in CP8?

In cp 8 also you can edit the interaction. This you can do the same way as you were doing in Cp7. but you need to have a look in the rearrangement of properties into sections in drag and drop panel in CP8.
I believe you are configuring the DnD interaction through launching the Wizard. After you configure the interaction open "Drag and Drop" panel from the "Window" Menu. Now In the Panel you can see the options to edit the interaction.
For changing the answer matching you need to open "Correct answers" window(which you were finding in DnD properties panel in Cp7)in cp8 you can find this option from the same panel under "Options" Tab section.(as shown in snap shot)
let me know if this resolves your issue.

  • How can I include a success message in a drag and drop interaction - I don't see this option in the Actions on success options, and cannot figure it out?

How can I include a success message in a drag and drop interaction - I don't see this option in the Actions on success options, and cannot figure it out?

I suspected you used the eye icon on the timeline to hide the message, but that one has no impact whatsoever on the published version. It is only meant to be used for editing reasons on the stage, to hide objects temporarily on a crowded stage. It is confusing, certainly in CP8 where for both instances the same eye icon is used. In previous versions the Properties panel had a checkbox for 'Show in Output', which was IMO much clearer than this eye icon. But of course, that is only my personal opinion.

    Hello,
Sure you can build it, I just don't think anyone has, you could also use their solution as well in an APEX page it's just a matter of integration.

  • How do I get the student's answers to show on the next slide for drag and drop interaction?

I'm working with Captivate 7 on a computer running Windows 8.
I created a simple, one-to-one drag and drop activity using the  Drag and Drop Wizard.
I want the student's answers to show on the next slide. Specifically, I want the drop source  to show with the drag target that the student connected to the drag source. This way the student can review his/her answers while the program discusses the correct answers.
Is there anyway to do this?

    * You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden (View > Toolbars > Customize or right-click a toolbar).
    * If you need to access the hidden Menu bar then press F10 or hold down the Alt key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily.

  • Can drag and drop interactions created in Captivate 6.1 be exported to HTML5?

Can drag and drop interactions created in Captivate 6.1 be exported to HTML5?
(I tried Captivate 6 with the drag and drop widget and that didn't work, and I can't find a trial version of 6.1).

I've just chatted to Adobe support and they have told me there is no educational discount for subscription I coudn't find the info on the website, so if anyone is interested, subscription is $29.99/month or $19.99/month if you sign up for a year.

  • Creating a drag and drop converter?

Does anyone know if there is a simple way to create a drag and drop converter type application?
I have a small command line application that converts an input file to an output file. It can take a few extra options, but these aren't necessary. To make this functionality available to more people I would like to convert it into a simple "drag and drop" style applcation, which would call the binary.
Does anyone have any recommendations or pointers to a tutorial on doing something similar? I am a bit of a newbie in terms of Mac development and I am thinking this could be a practical way of getting me introduced?

You might take a look at Pashua - it is designed to tack a GUI onto things that don't have one.  Otherwise, you are probably looking at something more serious, such as Xcode.

  • Reg Drag and Drop Feedback in Captivate 7

    Hi,
I have a drag and drop in a slide (Captivate 7) as a knowledge check.
Problem: I need a drag and drop interaction's correct feedback to reset when the learner returns to the drag and drop slide later or clicks the back button from the next slide. Currently the correct feedback is present.
Background: The learner completes the drag and drop and gets the 'Correct!' feedback from show action and 'Incorrect' feedback from the existing captivate failure feedback. The learner then continues the lesson by going to the next slide. The problem is that, if the learner returns to the drag and drop, the 'Correct!' feedback still shows even though the drag source items have reset to their original locations and the learner can redo the drag and drop interaction. Clicking the 'Reset' button does not remove the existing 'Correct!' feedback. Even if the learner redoes the interaction and does the opposite (e.g. if the learner got it wrong the first time, but then gets it correct this second time), the existing feedback does not change from 'Correct.'
Any ideas on how to fix this? I understand we have to create advanced actions. Please tell me the exact steps in this instance and whether i have to execute the actions on enter or exit.
Note: I tired to read the posts related to this. But creating the advanced options step was not given.
    Thank you.

OK.  Just asking because I saw one of the Adobe people chime in on a similar question a day or two back.
Unlike quiz questions, the Success and Failure Captions for drag and drop interactions appear to have Item Names which suggests they can be hidden via Advanced Actions.  You should try setting an On Slide Enter action to hide them and see if that resolves your issue.

  • Is it possible to add a drag and drop interaction to a called image in a contaner?

this forum is my last hope =( i know how to do drag and drop
by itself, however right now i have my flash set up so that when
you click BUTTON A, it does:
    on (release) {
    _root.gotoAndPlay ("photo1");
once it goes to "photo1", on that frame, i wrote actions on
    the frame to:
    var myMCL:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader ();
    myMCL.loadClip ("images/heritageBrochureFront.png",
    "container_mc");
    stop();
so it loads my picture into the container. my question, once
the image it in the container, can i add drag and drop interaction
to it? i would really love an easy solution.

yes. there are a couple of ways to do this.
one is the create a child movieclip of container_mc and load
into that child and assign your onPress/startDrag
    onRelease/stopDrag methods to container_mc.
a second way is to load into container_mc (like you're
currently doing), wait until loading is complete (ie, use the
onLoad method of an mcl listener) and then assign your methods to
    container_mc.

  • AS2 Drag and Drop Interaction help

I am trying to create a reusable template for a drag and drop interaction.
There are 7 drag objects, 7 targets.
Based on a scenario we develop (which of the 7 services [drag objects] are the best solution, for example), I would like to create interactions where some of the drag drop combinations are correct answers and dragging/dropping other combinations would result in an "incorrect" answer.
I am having issues with designating the correct and incorrect responses in the AS code, as well as how to provide the positive (correct answers) and negative (incorrect answers) feedback after a submit button is selected.
Additionaly, I have a reset button that does not function the way I expected - move the drag objects back to the start position and allow the user to resubmit an answer.
I am using Flash CS5, but need to use AS2 as the swf file is going to be inserted into an Articulate Presenter project (Articulate does not support AS3 yet).
Thank you for any assistance or suggestions!
