1) I suggest you download the given version of Firefox. See my post above. This version will probably work on your machine.
2) Change the identity of Safari. See:

So, lie about what browser you were using. I thought it was a nineties thing.
This appears to be a real 'Nineties' web site software. When IE came out in '95, IE would claim to be Netscape so as to fool the web site into letting it into the site. Web sites in those days checked for a particular version and type of the web browser. The site would only let that version and type grace the site ( interact with). The site software is supposed to check for the capabilities of the browser and act accordingly.

I am trying to download non iTunes music directly to my tablet as I don't have a computer to download the music to before syncing with my tablet. I go to a web site that has mp3 music that I can download but it only plays while I am connected. I would have thought that from the safari browser I could have mp3 files open in the music app Locke it does for PDF files opening in iBooks.
I would rather not have to bother downloading another app when the functionality is already there, just does not appear to be working.Thanks. Such is life.
I hope apple realizes that there is a whole group of people who don't have pc's and that cannot use iTunes to upload music to their tablets and phones and changes this soon. -
How to set the default web site for WGM users

In Tiger server there was a place to input the URL of the default web page for all browsers when users logged into network home folders. This was really helpful and saved a bunch of bandwidth and class time. Is there any way to do this in Leopard server? If so, please point me in the right direction.

..TomAntonio, Thanks! That seems to have worked for Safari. However, we like Firefox too, and I tried to set that up the same way, but was told "can't find a manifest for that app". I wonder if I can copy the Safari list then alter and rename it?

I just downloaded the Windows Migrator and tryed to open it. A window popped up saying "YOU CANT OPEN THE APPLICATION BECAUSE MICROSOFT APPLICATIONS ARE NOT SUPPORTED ON OS X". How do i transfer my files?
An .exe application is compiled for Windows. It will not run on a different OS. If you need to run this program, then you will have to install Windows on your Mac. Either as a separate bootable partition, or running in a virtual machine, such as Parallels or VMWare.

I've lost a load of notes, but dont know why or how to get them back. I cant find the folder that is in my Yahoo account that people have suggested might be the location for the messages. I recently signed into iCloud for the first time. Any idea how to get the notes back? I really dont want to lose them.
It should keep asking for the password, because it's trying to check for purchases... As soon as you login, it will see you have pending downloads and create the downloads section on the left below Purchases under the Store section. Then it will start the music downloads there, as they will be listed one below the other.
You could just try to check your account balance or view your account and that will trigger a password request too. You can just click on that and say that now iTunes keeps asking for the password and ask him to help you with that. Trick would be to interrupt him so that he carries on with another task after, so he doesn't notice the download. Or you carry on with email or browsing which you were "busy" with when iTunes interrupted you for the password (stupid iTunes) -

You do not need the Setup Assistant; in fact, you do not need any software on an external hard drive. I have two LaCie's; I erased the drive as soon as I plugged it in. You will need to format it anyway because most hard drives come Windows formatted. So, if you only want to use it with the Mac, highlight it in Disk Utility and choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as the format and the GUID Partition scheme under Options. While doing that, it will erase the drive (and get rid of the LaCie software) - once finished, your drive is ready to use for Time Machine or any other backup plans you have for it.

How do I download pdfs from link without opening first in Safari?
I am running OS 10.7.2 and browse with Safari 5.1.2. I download PDF files routinely for my work. In previous versions of Safari (with OS 10.5.x), clicking a link to download a PDF led to the PDF immediately downloading and then opening in Adobe Acrobat Pro. Since upgrading to current system and Safari, I can no longer do that. Clicking on PDF links opens in Safari, and then I have to find and click Safari's download button, and then I have to go to the downloads folder and click to open the document. Does anyone know how to bypass this opening feature and get Safari to just download and then get the pdf to instantly open like it used to? I am finding myself moving to Firefox, which I don't like as well and don't know as well, because it doesn't interfere with PDF docs.

Unfortunately, the various websites I visit don't respond uniformly to control-click, and choosing to download a file from that menu often just downloads an HTML of the page rather than the pdf doc itself. I find shift-option-click works more often than other key combos, but I still have to then go to the downloads folder and manually open the file.

Mandel is referring to what is called a "User Agent Faker' which tricks the website into thinking it is a different browser or version than it actually is. I sometimes would use this on my iPhone when I wanted to visit the full website of a site I was attempting to go to & it would only take me to the mobile version or state it was only compatible with say Internet Explorer, simply turn it on & select the browser and details you want it to report and it will spoof that browser & you'll be on your way.

Instead of downloading one by one simply download the 10.6.7 'combo' update from Apples support site, it contains all previous updates in one package. -

Adobe is not going to swap 13 for 12. It is selling only 13 download as you found out. So, you are going to have to purchase 12 if you want to use that program. It may still be available at some retail locations, such as Amazon.

If you are getting a network timeout then try temporarily turning off all your firewall and antivirus software on your computer until the download has completed.
Before starting the actual update you should force a backup of the iPad via File > Devices > Back Up, and preferably copy any important documents, photos, files etc off the iPad so that you have copies of them outside of the backup. -

If that is your intent, finding a substitute program that will run on your Mac may not be as efficient. Others can advise you on alternatives, or you can post a new thread specifically with that question.
