Apparently Firefox 5 does not work on Muddle a program used for college onload classes. I was told to download to Firefox 4 for Vista but I cannot find such a download anywhere!

Unfortunately we don't have Firefox 4 available anymore. We firefox 3.6 though.

By default you cannot. Android's permission model is based on you trusting the app you are installing to use the permissions it asks for with care.

This is the same as has occurred when prior versions were nearing their end-of-life. Support for Firefox 3.6 versions is likely to end in the first quarter of 2012.

In the end, I noticed a little link saying something like "All languages and operating systems." Probably the same as your link. I managed to download it through there. OPerating beautifully now (and also apparently with the system, it installed Internet Explorer, so all was not as dire as thought!)

You can't. There is no version of Firefox for iOS. There are other web browsers available in the iTunes Store if for some reason Safari, the web browser included with your iPad, won't work for you.

I updated firefox to the newest version and it wouldn't work (something about the proxy server) so I stupidly tried to fix it by using the restore program. I then realized that the old firefox was uninstalled when I downloaded the new updated version and now I have no way to get on the internet at home. Lindsey, go to the web page that cor-el refers to in his/her reply. You will find a grid with all of the different languages that FF comes in.
Select "english (US)" and click on the "download" link for your operating system. You will go to another page where it states that your download will begin automatically.
You should then see a message box come up and ask if you want to save the file. Click on "Save File" and save it to whatever device you are using to transfer it to the other PC.
Take the device with the file and plug it into the other computer. Using "My Computer," navigate to the device and double-click on the file. It will then start the FF installation process. Follow the on-screen directions from there. The file is about 8.2Mb so allow yourself enough space on your device.
I hope this little note will get you where you want to go, but remember; "No matter where you go............there you are."

That is the latest release of Firefox. 
On the XP computer that you posted with you have an outdated Firefox 3.0.19 version that is no longer supported and not recommended for usage as it has a lot of security vulnerabilities.
You can save the Firefox 3.6.12 setup file to your desktop and copy the file to an USB stick. 
Plug that stick in the other computer and copy the file to your desktop. 
You then can install Firefox on that computer with a double-click on that desktop icon.
