HOW DO I GET MY SONGS BACK ON MY IPOD???
I accidentally removed my 4th Gen photo ipod from my mac without properly unmounting it, and it went into "disk mode". It would n't allow me to get out of this mode, and itunes nor the finder would see the ipod when it was connected.
Oddly enuff, prosoft engineering's Data Rescue II was able to see it.
I used data rescue II to back up all the data on it. I was successful in this. then i restored the iPod to factory settings (erased it).
here's the problem: data rescue created 2 folders on the volume i recovered to:
A "CBR" folder, which contains and "Audio" folder, "Documents" folder, "Images" folder, etc... The Audio folder has more folders in it, which are titled by the type of files they contain. For instance, AIFF, MP3, m4a, WAV, respectively. All my music is within these files according to their file type. The names of teh files are file00001.aif or .mp3 or whatever, but when imported into itunes, the proper song title appears... this is good.
the second folder is titled "iPod", and it contains, the generally hidden files DesktopDB, DesktopDF, Finder, ReadMe, and System.
My question, is there a way to use these folders (CBR and iPod) to get my songs back into my ipod (with playlists)? I realize that I can import the folders into iTunes and everything would be good, but I have 2 macs and I manually manage playlists and songs, so the source of the songs that were on my ipod came from 1 mac or the other. The 2 macs each have their own playlists that I don't want to destroy... I need to simply get the backed up songs back onto the ipod, without having to go thru iTunes. That woudl be ideal.
Talk back to me, if you can.
Thanks

help! during an update it somehow went terribly wrong and restored my phone back to factory settings! I didnt lose my photos or contacts but have lost all the songs i bought via my itunes app! I admit I havent backed up recently, but how do i get those songs back?!
Contact iTunes support, plead your case, and request they add the lost music to your download queue. Be nice, as they are under no obligation to do so:

My computer was acting up so i had to restore it and i lost everything. how do i get the songs back that i already paid for?
The easiest way to get back missing items? Restore your whole hard drive with all your irreplaceable things like photos in about 20 minutes from the backup clone you make on a regular basis.
Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this). Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later. Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid. Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases. -
Hi I've just synced my iPhone 5 to my dad's computer to get an album I downloaded on there and it wiped my phone of all of the music and now it will not allow me to get it back how do I get my songs back because every time I comes up with I have to wait 63 days to get it back
You might have better luck in the iPhone community. I'll ask the hosts to relocate your post.

Have you tried syncing the iPhone to your computer and restoring from the backup to see if you can get your other songs back? If you purchased the new album with your Apple ID, you should be able to download it to your computer to sync. -
My library of 800 songs has been replaced by 48 older items which I believe are off an older device (old nano belonging to another family member). How do I get my songs back?

I've purchased 9 songs from iTunes and a week later I decided to factory reset my iMac. How do I get the songs back?
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy, not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

Ive restored my Ipod nano and the songs that I've already purchased are now not syncing to my device. How do I get those songs back on the nano?
Either redownload them directly to the iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
or sync them to your iPod via iTunes

I can't get my music to play in my itunes. It comes with a exclamation mark next to the song numbers and says that the original songs can't be played cause cant find the file. How do I get the songs back? (I found the files
You get exclamation marks or dead tracks because iTunes can’t find the file. This can happen for a number of reasons:
The song file or a folder in its path was renamed
The song file or the folder it is in has been moved
The song file has been deleted
The device containing the song files e.g. external drive is not accessible or the drive letter has changed.
If you use an external drive, a change in drive letter is a common cause and you need to change it back.
AS a way of working out what has happened, right click on a track and select the summary tab (you will have to go past an error message). The summary tab will tell you where iTunes thinks the track is located. How does that compare with where the track actually is?
The xml library file is not used by iTunes, it is created to allow other programs to access the library. You can recreate the iTl file from the xml file, but there is no point if the location of the files is wrong.
There is a simple way of getting you music back in iTunes, but it loses all playlists counts and rating. To do this drag iTunes library.itl and iTunes Library.xml to your desktop. Then open iTunes and an empty library is created. Add you iTunes Media folder to it.
If you can't work out what went wrong and how to fix it, you may have to do this. -
My last computer crashed and it had all my songs and i got a new ipod how do i get those songs back
ok so my last computer crashed and it had all my songs and that day i got a new ipod how do i get those songs back thast i paid for?
If the songs are not on an iPod or a computer (didn't you have a backup of your computer files?) you are probably out of luck since you only get one download of music from the iTunes store and it is up to you to back them up. However, the Itunes store may allow a redownload if you explain what happened. Go to the following and select the appropriate topic to contact them.

My PC crashed and I lost all my stuff, including i tunes account. How do I get purchased songs back?

It is a new pc - old one crashed and lost everything.
Yes, I got that. My question was "are you using the same iTunes account to access music purchased from the Store?" I think your answer is "yes".

But they are all on my ipod - can i not sync back to itunes?
iTunes is not designed to do that. However, this user tip from tt2 may help you recover your music from your iPod, although it's not a simple process: Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Ignore any references in the tip to iOS devices, the Classic does not use iOS. The tip has a list of software, including the TouchCopy referred to by tbirdvet that may assist you in recovering your music. -

I downloaded several songs on my iPod touch and it wouldn't sync with my computer so I needed to restore it. Those songs that I had downloaded show up in my purchase history but they are no where to be found in the music library. The assistance I got from support was to chech the "Check for available downloads" and precede from there, but it isn't finding those songs. How can I get those songs back?
They are only where you put them, if you did not download them on the computer or transfer them from the iDevice, there is no logical expectation for them to be on the computer.

I downloaded the new version of iTunes and now over 100 songs have an exclamation mark beside them and won't play. The message says: "The song ... could not be used because the original file could not be found." How do I get these songs back?
Presuming they're on your computer, right click on them and then follow the prompts to locate hte file on your computer.
