How do I get rid of malware entries in my Prefs.js file (stored in my profile folder)?

I want to get rid of anything that contains the string "claro" in it. Here is part of my prefs.js file that shows what I want to clear:
\Mozilla\\\\Firefox\\\\Profiles\\\\a6s51y6q.default-1347242978286\\\\extensions\\\\{d10d0bf8-f5b5-c8b4-a8b2-2b9879e08c5d}.xpi\"},\"jid1-LSHV456F7wAw9g@jetpack\":{\"version\":\"1.1\",\"type\":\"extension\",\"descriptor\":\"C:\\\\Users\\\\Clayton\\\\AppData\\\\Roaming\\\\Mozilla\\\\Firefox\\\\Profiles\\\\a6s51y6q.default-1347242978286\\\\extensions\\\\[email protected]\"}}");

Additional info:
I also found these lines in my user.js file. How do I get rid of them? (They are also the ONLY lines in user.js.)
(Claro is known malware and these entries were not discovered by the malware "malbytes" program).

And one to "Babylon" in my search-metadata.json file (also malware) as follows:

I am not computer savvy, I tried to watch NFL live through safari and ultimately came down with a bad case of malware where I am constantly getting pop ups and my internet is extremely slow now. How can I get rid of this malware?

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • How do I get rid of duplicate entries in iCal on my mac after commencing iCloud?

I just got a new iPhone 4s, and have set up iCloud.  I managed to sync everthing i think (ie. contacts + calenders) but now on my mac iCal I have three duplicate calender entries for one event, but only one entry on my iPhone.  If I delete just one of the entries from the iCal on my mac (leaving 2 still there), the one calender entry on my iphone disappears.  Please help.  It is driving me mad!!

You don't want to get rid of, it's a security feature. If someone steals your Mac, all that account permits is Safari access, no other access to the computer. This enables you to locate your Mac.

  • How can I get rid of duplicate entries in iPad iCal?

This is kind of a repeat and I apologize, but I have duplicate entries now in my iCa on my iPad because of iOS5? Others on this same topic said something about deleting the whole iPad calendar.  Before I did that, I wanted to be sure, that if I delete the iPad calendar, it won't delete the iMac calendar.   I'm just not sure how to get one one iCal entry in my iPad calendar.  I have birthdays, etc. entered until eternity!

I would be consistent with respect to the information in the "Info" pane in iTunes.  That is, if you want to sync Calendars, Contacts, and email, use either iCloud for all 3 (e.g., enable all 3 in iCloud and deselect all 3 from iTunes) or iTunes for all 3 (select all 3 in iTunes and disable all 3 in iCloud).... don't break them up across services.

  • How do I get rid of double entries in my Contacts?

I sync a 3rd party software, DejaOffice, from my iPad to my PC via Outlook. (DejaOffice is an integrated program with Calendar, Contacts, To-do List, and other features.) DejaOffice allows for syncing to Apple Calendar & Contacts. (Synicing to Contacts is especially important on my iPhone so it recognizes incoming calls in call display.) When I sync to Apple Calendar & Contacts, I often get double entries in both the Apple software, and DejaOffice. So, I have turned off syncing to Apple Contacts and Calendar from DejaOffice. I have just spent an hour deleting the double/triple entries in Contacts in my iCloud from my PC, and want to push the corrected list to my iPad & iPhone 5. I can't see how to delete the contacts in iPad or iPhone (which still have double & triple entries). If I turn on iCloud Contacts and Calendar in either device, it tells me it will merge the data, and I don't want the double entries any more, so I'd like to delete all contacts on iPad & iPhone, and then push the corrected iCloud list to both devices so they are all on the same page. I can't seem to figure out how to delete my Contacts or Calendar entries on iPad or iPhone so the merge only contains the corrected list from the iCloud. Can anyone help me with this?

First, export your contact from iCloud.com and save them on your computer in a safe spot some where (like you desktop).  Use this to help you do this: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3606
Next, on both of your devices, go to Settings > iCloud and turn on contacts and select Merge. Then turn off contacts and select 'Delete form my [device]' when prompted.
Now go back to iCloud.com and select a contact (yes they will all be messed up again) and select Command+A on a Mac or Control+A on a PC to select all of the contacts.  Tap the delete key on your keyboard (or right click /control click a contact and select delete).
You iPhone, iPad and iCloud.com should not be empty for contacts.
Go back to Settings > iCloud on both devices and turn on contacts again (you should not see merge this time).
Next, go back to iCloud.com and import your contacts (those exported .vcards).  You can either drag and drop them into the empty contacts list in your web browser, or you can use the gear icon to import.
You cleaned up contacts should import correctly into iCloud.com and sync to both of your devices.
    Good luck.

  • How do I get rid of malware/adware signed "ads by info" ?

I've tried just about every anti-spyware and nothing is getting rid of ads and new tabs opening signed "ads by info". I believe that it goes by the name of superfish sometimes. I successfully removed it from Chrome but Firefox is still screwed.
Please don't tell me to look through my extensions. It's not there and I'm not a moron.

If you want to access the Help menu from the menubar, you can by pressing '''Alt''' if the menubar is hidden, or by showing the menubar permanently through your customization screen:
    * Either enter '''about:customizing''' in your address bar, or go to
    * Menu [[Image: New Fx Menu]] > Customize
At the bottom left of this page should have a "Show/Hide Toolbars" - you can enable the menu bar from there.
Alternatively, if you right click on an empty space on your toolbar, an option to show the Menu bar (and Bookmarks toolbar) should appear as well.

  • How do I get rid of black shadows around layered sparkles in file imported from Illustrator CC to After Effects CC?

I have a background with a logo that will have various stars or sparkles around the logo. I eventually want the sparkles to flicker on and off around the logo in my Premiere Pro video.
I created my layered logo/sparkle artwork in Illustrator CC. Each sparkle is on a separate layer. The sparkles came from clip art. In Illustrator CC the sparkles are white or yellow. In After Effects CC they have a black background around each sparkle, almost like a drop shadow.
I want to get rid of the drop shadow/black background.
    Any suggestions?

Check the problematic layers in the comp by soloing them and then press the u key twice to reveal everything that is not set to the defaults. Make sure there are no layer styles or other effects checked. If all is normal but the art still looks odd open up the footage interpretation, Click the More Options button at the bottom left. and set the anti aliasing for vector art to More Accurate. You can do similar in Preferences>Previews and set Zoom Quality to More Accurate.
Here's another tip for using Illustrator files for video. Any stroked artwork must have a minimum stroke of 1 point or 1 pixel. 2 is better. Fine details in your artwork should be drawn with the snap to pixel option enabled in Illustrator and artwork should be an even number of pixels (points) high and wide.
If none of that works, save out just some of the problematic layers in you AI file and send us a link so we can check out the file or post a screenshot of the problem viewed at a zoom factor of 100% with resolution set to Auto or Full and the properties of your layer with problems revealed.

  • How can I get rid of malware that redirects to a different website than requested, i.e. Price Grabber?

When I open Firefox, my default browser, another tab opens with shopping "deals" featured. If I search in Google and select from the list of results, I am often redirected to a different shopping channel.
Somehow this malware has gotten past my always-running virus checker and is not detected by Adaware or Search&Destroy.

Try running either of these malware scanners, they are considered to be aamongst the best:

  • How do i get rid of malware on my macbook

If I open my hard drive icon on the desktop, on the left side under "shared" is this: your-4dacd0ea75 and has a little square blue screen next to it. How do I take this off? I appreciate any help.

Whenever anyone asks for help with Malware on a Mac, the stock answer is "there is no malware on a Mac..." because generally it is the UFO siting of problems on OSX.
your-4dacd0ea75 IS actual Malware. On a Mac. Congratulations, you have done the nearly impossible.
your-4dacd0ea75 is actually a big problem for PCs (Google it - it is) and a nagging problem for Mac owners. Posts here in "discussions" as well as elsewhere in cyberspace speak of Repair Permissions as the sure way to make it disappear, but others say it just comes back. Other people recommend ClamXav the free antivirus for Macs, but their Forum makes no mention of your-4dacd0ea75
If it were myself, I would do an Erase and Install, but most folks here hate that answer. You can do your own Search and trash all references to it. For that I would not use Spotlight, as much as freeware or trialware: EasyFind search tool or FindAnyFile search tool to seek out anyplace the bug may be hideing.
Perhaps the people who Repaired Permissions failed to erase all cookies & caches. I would look there first. You are in uncharted waters here - try anything you can think of.
As a rule you are in much LESS trouble that PCs (unless you got this through Boot Camp - did you?)
