How Do I Include Frame Lines In Exported PDF?

I've created a layout template using rectangle frames. I want to use File > Adobe PDF Presets > [Press Quality] to export a pdf version of the layout. However, when I do that, I am not seeing the frame lines. I have checked, Include.. "Non-printing Objects," "Visible Guides & Grids," and have also included, "All Printer's Marks." However, I still am not seeing the lines for the frames in my pdf. What I am doing wrong?

And to add to Peter's point, the frame boundaries never have been considered “visible guides or grids.” Non-printing objects” are objects that you have specifically put a non-printing attribute on. “Printer marks” are an option that puts trim marks, file names, and color patches in the page's slug area, if defined.

On 1/21-1/22 I tried to 'renew' a subscription for Export PDF. By some error (maybe mine - I just dont understand the whole thing) my Bank was immediately charged for two subscriptions, each at a different price. I immediately "chat"ted with several reps (it was difficult to get onto the chat and find out how to cancel) and was assured that both would be cancelled and refunded. They weren't!
I waited a week. Was again frustrated by the chat hookup, and tried the 'cloud' retail product tel #, assuming it was wrong but that I could be switched to the correct one. Had a very pleasant chat, was assured that both would be cancelled and refunded, received 2 e-mails confirming the cancellations, each with a seperate "Case #". Felt pretty good! It had only taken me a week of reasonably diligent effort to get a very simple thing done! IT WASN"T DONE! (Yes, I apologize - I know I'm loud - but by now I've got steam coming out of my ears!)
Today I got an e-mail, telling me that the refund had been processed and the case # would be closed. I looked at my bank, and only one had been refunded! I reviewed all the other e-mails and the notes from the telephone calls and chats to be sure I hadn't misunderstood something. But, no I hadn't. I went to my Adobe on-line and looked up 'my orders' history. Sure enough one had been invoiced and refunded ( the lesser charge of the two) but the other had ONLY BEEN INVOICED - NOT CANCELLED. And it seems that every piece of this transaction generates a new "order" , "case" or some other "reference #" - none of which are tied together, except by the invoice amount, when it is mentioned - which it typically IS NOT.
My question, then, is : How can I get past this absolute frustration over every aspect of my interaction with Adobe and GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF?????????

 What frustration? (Just kidding !)
 As I mentioned, one of the two charges has been refunded. Credited by
Adobe on Jan 28, I believe I received it in my bank on Jan 30.
 The other charge, $25.37 of order # AD011017507, has not been received
by my bank yet. But this can't be that much of a surprise, and has nothing
to do with "10 business days" for refunds to post.
 To this minute, "My Orders" on Adobe website shows that the order #
AD011017507 was invoiced on January 22, but that no credit invoice has been
posted against this order to this moment!
 Can you begin to understand the frustration of being unable, through
all attempts to untangle this mess, starting within one hour of the original
order, with I believe nine different "Chats", telephone calls and, finally
a "problem" posting, stretching over more than thirteen days. Of course
it doesn't make much sense to devote this much attention to less than $50
worth of stuff, but I do not let things like this dangle.
 And can you imagine how loathe I am to deal with Adobe for fear of
some real problem?
 At any rate, I would certainly be pleased if you can suggest a way for
me to extricate myself from this. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I've checked your account, but don't see any order history under the email address you use here in the forums. Is it possible that you used a different email address or purchased ExportPDF as in in-app purchase from the Reader mobile app? (For the latter, you would need to contact the App store from which you purchased the subscription--Adobe doesn't handle those purchases/refunds.)

For example, if I am downloading a paper by smith called "Surgery" that was published in 2002, it will automatically set the file name in the download to smith- surgery 2002. I have heard pages is smart enough to do this.

Pages can export only its own documents. They may be exported as PDF, MS Word, RTF or Text files.
Pages can import (ie. Open a file as, or Insert a file into, a Pages document) documents in several formats, but won't rename the document as you describe. Documents that can be Opened (eg. Text, AppleWorks 6 WP, MS Word files) are converted to Pages documents, and retain their original names, with .pages replacing the original file extension. Files that can be Inserted (generally .jpg, .pdf and other image files) become part of the existing Pages file and lose their names.
It may be possible, using AppleScript, to extract the text you want and to Save a Pages file using that text as the filename, but that would depend in part on being able to identify which text is wanted and which is not.
How will the script determine where the author's name begins and where it ends?
How will the script recognize the beginning and of the title, an decide how much of the title to use in the filename?
How will the script recognize the year of publication?
For papers published in a specific journal, with a strict format for placing each of these pieces on information, or containing the needed information as searchable meta data in the file, this might be possible. But it would require knowledge of the structure of these files, and would probably handle only papers published in a specific journal or set of journals.
Outside my field of knowledge, but there are some talented scripters around here who might want to take a closer look.

Try to use the Description(100 characters) Field
but if you want to add more characters at row level in single field.
Try to add a UDF(500 Characters) on Marketing Documents.

Possible to include merge fields with exported PDF?

Hello,
I have only a simple question - is it possible to include data merge fields when exporting to pdf?
Using InDesign CS2, we are doing a direct mailing campaign and having the printing outsourced. It is a 4 page document with only page 1 personalised - sending to over 1,500 recipients.
The printer says he doesn't want our indesign file, he just wants us to create the 4 page indesign document, prepare the data merge fields, export to pdf and then send it to him.
He says he'll then import it back into his own indesign one he gets this pdf and do the merge himself with the excel .csv file we provide.
Does this sound about right? If so, how can I ensure the pdf is correct to send over?
I have managed to get the data merge fields to be clickable like links in the exported PDF by including 'hyperlinks' and 'interactive elements' when exporting - but is this correct?

The printer is right that he can use your pdf. It is ok to place a pdf into InDesign. It might fit into his workflows and experience to do this work so.
I would recommend to use a PDF/X4 with bleed as the printer requieres to place into an INDD file. But you should communicate with your printer how he wants it.

How do I include formatting when I export Discoverer Report to Excel?

Using the Desktop version of Discoverer I can export to excel but the formatting is not included.
But when I use the Plus or Viewer version to export, the formatting is included.
I would like to export using a batch file at the command prompt but the formatting is not included.

Have you tried exporting to HTML and then opening the HTML in Excel, e.g.

My export to interactive PDF works fine for most situations, but there are a few (e.g. Acrobat for Android) where some characters are not shown (hyphens, quotes). I would like to experiment with font inclusion settings, but I cannot select that when exporting to Interactive PDF. What can I do?

Aha. I think I might have misunderstood the idea of "Interactive PDF". For me, that was a PDF where hyperlinks work etc. and where colours are in RGB. And "print" I understood as being for "paper" (and things like CMYK etc).
I have a document that I have to export twice: one for the print process (paper) and one for reading on computers/tablets (phones maybe). Am I right to conclude from the above that "Interactive PDF" is about forms and such? In that case, I must not export "Interactive" for reading on tablets and computers but as print as well. That might solve the problem that I have with font encoding and some readers on Android.
I also have to deliver "Optimized PDF" for the electronic version, so my current process is "Export as Interactive PDF", then open in Acrobat Pro and save as "Optimized PDF".

when I export my Keynote presentation to Flash, the transitions I selected disappear leaving way to a simple change of screen. I was wondering if there was a way to preserve all transitions and effects in the Flash export.

I am pretty sure its not possible at this stage.
As most ads like Mochi etc are in fact .swf files loaded in from the web, which is not supported on the Iphone. ( as those would be actual 'Flash' files where as the app you are running is compiled to Xcode )
PS: hmm i just realised you were referring to the native Iphone Ads... well I dont know then! but is a really really interesting question! I suppose when Adobe releases a 'non-preview' version of the Packager they might open up some API to it.

Indesign CS3 text frame parameters and export PDF

could use some help with the following:
I need to edit and export a large number (7000) Indesign documents (one page)
1. check for locked text frames and unlock
2. group all text frames
3. set grouped text frames at x=8 millimeters, y 10 milimeters
4. export the documents to PDF in a subfolder called "Out"
5. save and close the documents in the same subfolder as an Indesign CS3 document (orig is CS2)

You're asking for the name of the application, not the document -- you need to do it after your "tell myDoc". You could also get the name from the alias you open, rather than the open document, something like: repeat with thisFile in listFiles set oldDelims to AppleScript's text item delimiters set AppleScript's text item delimiters to {":"} set docName to text item -1 of (thisFile as Unicode text) set AppleScript's text item delimiters to oldDelims You should also move your "set properties of view preferences" line to after your "tell myDoc". -- Shane Stanley <[email protected]>

I use "Merge File into a Single File" to create a pdf file from many html files. However, the generated pdf file have the path information of the html files. I'm wondering how to generate a pdf without the path information.

Go to CREATE > Create PDF from Web Page > Click the SETTINGS button on the dialog that follows > Uncheck "Place headers and footers on new page".

Instead of Menu > File> Export To > PDF, use Menu > File > Print...
In Print Preview (Print Setup Panel):
Click on Print... to see the Print Dialogue:
Lower left, click on the PDF Pop-Up Menu
