How do I increase Logic's performance.

Gday. I have a MBP 2.4GHz 2GB. Will adding another 2GB or RAM reduce the -10011 Errors of System overload? They are more CPU errors as I'm aware? Also, what about a faster hard drive, will that increase Logic's performance?
Cheers.

Hi,
Adding more memory may improve performance. That depends on what your projects look like and what sort of instruments you use.
A faster harddrive always helps improving things for audio files based actions (recording, playing back, using sampled instruments).
Are you familiar with the buffer settings? Bigger buffer means more latency but generally also less to no overloads. Keep I/O safety buffer disabled. That feature appears to benefit only low spec systems like mine.
Also you can disable the overload warning alltogether here:
If Logic stops unasked, it has an overload - I guess you know that now.

  • My performance is very slow when I run graphs. How do I increase the speed at which I can do other things while the data is being updated and displayed on the graphs?

I am doing an an aquisition and displaying the data on graphs. When I run the program it is slow. I think because I have the number of scans to read associated with my scan rate. It takes the number of seconds I want to display on the chart times the scan rate and feeds that into the number of samples to read at a time from the AI read. The problem is that it stalls until the data points are aquired and displayed so I cannot click or change values on the front panel until the updates occur on the graph. What can I do to be able to help this?

One possible solution would be to organise your inbox into folders.
Its never relly good on any system to have one folder that has everything in it.
Try going to you web gui for that mail account and organise your folders and move mails from your inbox into corresponding folders for better organisation.
Several folders containing the same amount of one folder will usually load a little quicker as the folder may not be accessed to download its content unless veiwed.
So having 10 folders with organised content, and you inbox as an area thats to hold only new emails would work much much quicker with imap.
Most imap servers will only update the contents of a folder when its veiwed.

  • How to improve ABAP logics

    Hi
How to Improve ABAP logics(Programming) in all areas.
I need guidence from you all. How to start to improve them.
    Regards,
    Maruti

    Hi,
Following are the performance standards need to be following in writing ABAP programs:
    1.      Unused/Dead code
Avoid leaving unused code in the program. Either comment out or delete the unused situation. Use program --> check --> extended program to check for the variables, which are not used statically.
    2.      Subroutine Usage
For good modularization, the decision of whether or not to execute a subroutine should be made before the subroutine is called. For example:
    This is better:
    IF f1 NE 0.
      PERFORM sub1.
    ENDIF.
    FORM sub1.
    ENDFORM.
    Than this:
    PERFORM sub1.
    FORM sub1.
      IF f1 NE 0.
      ENDIF.
    ENDFORM.
    3.      Usage of IF statements
When coding IF tests, nest the testing conditions so that the outer conditions are those which are most likely to fail. For logical expressions with AND , place the mostly likely false first and for the OR, place the mostly likely true first.
    Example - nested IF's:
IF (least likely to be true).
IF (less likely to be true).
IF (most likely to be true).
         ENDIF.
        ENDIF.
       ENDIF.
    Example - IF...ELSEIF...ENDIF :
IF (most likely to be true).
ELSEIF (less likely to be true).
ELSEIF (least likely to be true).
      ENDIF.
    Example - AND:
IF (least likely to be true) AND
          (most likely to be true).
       ENDIF.
    Example - OR:
IF (most likely to be true) OR
          (least likely to be true).
    4.      CASE vs. nested Ifs
When testing fields "equal to" something, one can use either the nested IF or the CASE statement. The CASE is better for two reasons. It is easier to read and after about five nested IFs the performance of the CASE is more efficient.
    5.      MOVE statements
When records a and b have the exact same structure, it is more efficient to MOVE a TO b than to  MOVE-CORRESPONDING a TO b.
    MOVE BSEG TO *BSEG.
    is better than
    MOVE-CORRESPONDING BSEG TO *BSEG.
    6.      SELECT and SELECT SINGLE
When using the SELECT statement, study the key and always provide as much of the left-most part of the key as possible. If the entire key can be qualified, code a SELECT SINGLE not just a SELECT.   If you are only interested in the first row or there is only one row to be returned, using SELECT SINGLE can increase performance by up to three times.
    7.      Small internal tables vs. complete internal tables
In general it is better to minimize the number of fields declared in an internal table.  While it may be convenient to declare an internal table using the LIKE command, in most cases, programs will not use all fields in the SAP standard table.
    For example:
    Instead of this:
data:  t_mara like mara occurs 0 with header line.
    Use this:
data: begin of t_mara occurs 0,
            matnr like mara-matnr,
            end of t_mara.
    8.      Row-level processing and SELECT SINGLE
Similar to the processing of a SELECT-ENDSELECT loop, when calling multiple SELECT-SINGLE commands on a non-buffered table (check Data Dictionary -> Technical Info), you should do the following to improve performance:
o       Use the SELECT into <itab> to buffer the necessary rows in an internal table, then
o       sort the rows by the key fields, then
o       use a READ TABLE WITH KEY ... BINARY SEARCH in place of the SELECT SINGLE command. Note that this only make sense when the table you are buffering is not too large (this decision must be made on a case by case basis).
    9.      READing single records of internal tables
When reading a single record in an internal table, the READ TABLE WITH KEY is not a direct READ.  This means that if the data is not sorted according to the key, the system must sequentially read the table.   Therefore, you should:
    o       SORT the table
o       use READ TABLE WITH KEY BINARY SEARCH for better performance.
    10.  SORTing internal tables
When SORTing internal tables, specify the fields to SORTed.
    SORT ITAB BY FLD1 FLD2.
    is more efficient than
    SORT ITAB.
    11.  Number of entries in an internal table
To find out how many entries are in an internal table use DESCRIBE.
    DESCRIBE TABLE ITAB LINES CNTLNS.
    is more efficient than
    LOOP AT ITAB.
      CNTLNS = CNTLNS + 1.
    ENDLOOP.
    12.  Performance diagnosis
To diagnose performance problems, it is recommended to use the SAP transaction SE30, ABAP/4 Runtime Analysis. The utility allows statistical analysis of transactions and programs.
    13.  Nested SELECTs versus table views
Since releASE 4.0, OPEN SQL allows both inner and outer table joins.  A nested SELECT loop may be used to accomplish the same concept.  However, the performance of nested SELECT loops is very poor in comparison to a join.  Hence, to improve performance by a factor of 25x and reduce network load, you should either create a view in the data dictionary then use this view to select data, or code the select using a join.
    14.  If nested SELECTs must be used
As mentioned previously, performance can be dramatically improved by using views instead of nested SELECTs, however, if this is not possible, then the following example of using an internal table in a nested SELECT can also improve performance by a factor of 5x:
    Use this:
    form select_good.
data: t_vbak like vbak occurs 0 with header line.
data: t_vbap like vbap occurs 0 with header line.
select * from vbak into table t_vbak up to 200 rows.
      select * from vbap
              for all entries in t_vbak
              where vbeln = t_vbak-vbeln.
      endselect.
    endform.
    Instead of this:
    form select_bad.
select * from vbak up to 200 rows.
select * from vbap where vbeln = vbak-vbeln.
      endselect.
    endselect.
    endform.
Although using "SELECT...FOR ALL ENTRIES IN..." is generally very fast, you should be aware of the three pitfalls of using it:
Firstly, SAP automatically removes any duplicates from the rest of the retrieved records.  Therefore, if you wish to ensure that no qualifying records are discarded, the field list of the inner SELECT must be designed to ensure the retrieved records will contain no duplicates (normally, this would mean including in the list of retrieved fields all of those fields that comprise that table's primary key).
Secondly,  if you were able to code "SELECT ... FROM <database table> FOR ALL ENTRIES IN TABLE <itab>" and the internal table <itab> is empty, then all rows from <database table> will be retrieved.
Thirdly, if the internal table supplying the selection criteria (i.e. internal table <itab> in the example "...FOR ALL ENTRIES IN TABLE <itab> ") contains a large number of entries, performance degradation may occur.
    15.  SELECT * versus SELECTing individual fields
In general, use a SELECT statement specifying a list of fields instead of a SELECT * to reduce network traffic and improve performance.  For tables with only a few fields the improvements may be minor, but many SAP tables contain more than 50 fields when the program needs only a few.  In the latter case, the performace gains can be substantial.  For example:
    Use:
select vbeln auart vbtyp from table vbak
      into (vbak-vbeln, vbak-auart, vbak-vbtyp)
      where ...
    Instead of using:
select * from vbak where ...
    16.  Avoid unnecessary statements
There are a few cases where one command is better than two.  For example:
    Use:
    append <tab_wa> to <tab>.
    Instead of:
    <tab> = <tab_wa>.
    append <tab> (modify <tab>).
    And also, use:
    if not <tab>[] is initial.
    Instead of:
    describe table <tab> lines <line_counter>.
    if <line_counter> > 0.
    17.  Copying or appending internal tables
    Use this:
    <tab2>[] = <tab1>[].  (if <tab2> is empty)
    Instead of this:
    loop at <tab1>.
      append <tab1> to <tab2>.
    endloop.
However, if <tab2> is not empty and should not be overwritten, then use:
append lines of <tab1> [from index1] [to index2] to <tab2>.

  • How can I increase the storage capacity in Linux for installing Oracle 11g?

    Hi all,
I've been searching in Internet information about how to increase the storage capacity of a Linux machine, so that it can help me with my problem without success. I tried to execute some command lines encountered in some tips in forums, but no one works.
I want to install an Oracle 11g database, which needs 4 GB minimal for the installation. I can not continue with the installation because of this problem.
I use a VMWare virtual machine, which I increased over its settings to 160 GB, but not its file systems or whatever in the machine.
    I did this:
    [root@localhost ~]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    /dev/sda3 18G 15G 1.9G 89% /
    /dev/sda1 190M 12M 169M 7% /boot
    none 506M 0 506M 0% /dev/shm
    /dev/hdc 699M 0 699M 100% /media/cdrom
As far I understand the bigger storage capacity is used by the file system /dev/sda3. But what about the rest, I mean the 140 GB?. I've already increased the storage capacity over the settings. How can I tell the machine "please use the remaining 140 GB for the installation of the Oracle DB and other needed installations?.
How can I increase here what?. Disk? File system? Volume Group? It can not be so difficult, can it?
There are no volume groups in the machine:
    +[root@localhost /]# vgdisplay+
    +No volume groups found+
Linux is too complicated. Unfortunately I have to do that in Linux :-(
Can someone help me? I sit here since long hours without finding a solution :-(

    thanks for your answers.
    To Dude:
You can address the problem in a number of different ways, but please post your version of Linux and provide more information about your current partitions
The Version of Linux is Linux Red Hat Enterprise 5.
Open Logical Volume Management from the System Administration menu.
Select your volume from the logical view, edit properties and then use the slider to set your volume size, or click "remaining" to extend your partition.
I've already opened the LVM from the System Administration menu, but there is no possibility to see the volume groups, because there is no one. There is no tabs like Volume Groups or something like that...
I would try the procedure described above your answer and write you again. I hope it works...I will write you back in a few minutes...

One of the options is to simply increase the bufferpool size using the following command
    db2 alter bufferpool immediate <bufferpool name> size <new bufferpool size>
However, this will affect the hit ration for a particular bufferpool. If you have more than one bufferpool, you need to identify the bufferpool(s) with worst hit ratio. In the SAP DBA Cockpit, check using
    Performance -> Bufferpool
The victim buffer information is only useful in case you use alternate page cleaning.
Note that there are other options to fight bad bufferpool hit ratio - however, with your small bufferpool size (80MB) maybe increasing the size is the appropriate step.

  • Can installing Adobe Creative Suite affect Logic's performance?

Gonna purchase Adobe Creative Suite 3 or 4 and install it on my Mac Book Pro which is my main studio Logic 8 machine, doubt a bit, can this program package somehow affect Logic's performance? Maybe it's better to install it to another laptop?

@Bee Jay: properly modified, & perfectly sensible advice. Appreciated as always. So no aspersions whatsoever cast in your direction are intended by any of what follows! However, I can't help but be a little downhearted by the slightly undermining affect on what I had very naively hoped would be my 'good work'. That is my problem entirely, of course. +Grovel, grovel.+

  • How may one increase JVM/Java Stored Procedure Perfomance?

    Hi all,
my question: How can one increase the performance of the Oracle JVM, especially of Java Stored Procedures?
I ask this because I did some performance analysis (and was horrified :):
I have a static Java method that'll need an average 15 ms to return - when executed locally.
The same code, uploaded to an Oracle10g instance and published as Java Stored Procedure will take awful *925 ms*.
I measured both times from within the method as shown below:
    public class JSProc {
    public static void doSomething() {
    long start = System.currentTimeMillis();
    // now comes the '15 ms'-code
    long time = System.currentTimeMillis() - start;
That way, I'm not including any call spec overhead, network communication or whatever into the 925 ms. All in all the above procedure call will take about 1200 to 1500 ms until it returns to the client...
The hardware: both client/server computers have the same hardware, both use the JDK provided with the latest Oracle10g release; single difference: client is Win2K, server is Linux.
I would be immensely grateful for your suggestions concerning the possibilities to increase the JVM performance...
    Greetings,
    Sam

As Avi suggested, subsequent calls of the procedure within the same session will reduce the execution time down to 40 ms in my testing environment.
But that doesn't change anything for the 'first call' - when I start a new client program that opens a new connection, the Java Stored Proc will again need about a second to return.
I wrote the procedure now in PL/SQL - it will return in less than 30 ms, subsequent calls will return in less than a ms. Guess what I'll use :)
I played around with the JAVA* configuration params, but, as expected, that doesn't change anything in terms of performance. According to documentation, it will only affect the amount of classes I can load into the server.
I just read that Oracle creates a new "little" JVM for every session, and I imagine that there's lot of method intercepting and things (the ominous AOP-code) to ensure transaction security.
That's why I come to the conclusion that I won't use Java Stored Procedures for classical "connect, execute, disconnect" client-server applications. It's like full braking on the freeway :)

  • How can I increase the font size of just one paragraph?

I am using Dreamweaver CS4. I want to increase the font size and style of just one paragraph, but the "page properties" changes the font size for the whole page. In this regard: how can I increase the font size (and style) for just one word. Thank you, Mr. Monroe

    Nancy O.
How do I get to “CSS Properties”? Do I click on Window > CSS Styles?
When I click on Window > CSS Styles, I do not see the text “Custom Class.”
I tried inserting (manually) the HTML code you suggested for the paragraph I want to change and nothing happened. I tried [<span class=”16px”>text came in here</span)]
I read in a tutorial that after you create a CSS style sheet, all you have to do is select the text you want to apply it to and then attach the style sheet to that text. I can imagine, however, that there are some special steps that one has to perform in order to do this.
    Thanks for your help.

If I'm processing 20,000 claims per 7 minutes, how can I decrease processing 20,000 claims to 1 or 2 minutes?
Do I have to configure anything in Biztalk adapters or SQL agent?

    In BizTalk:
You can increase the BizTalk performance by adding multiple instance of host . i.e. add more instance of the host instance which are configured to the send port. So you will more instances
to process your messages concurrently, this would increase the throughput.
Try to use batch imports rather than record level imports.
Always type your stored procedure parameter(s) as NVARCHAR(MAX) when sending an XML message to SQL Server.
Avoid dynamic ports with the WCF adapters, and in particular the WCF SQL adapter, in favor of static ports with a dynamic Action

    In SQL Server:
Try to add index to the SQL tables.
Check whether you can improve the performance by fine tuning the store procedure used.

  • HOW DO I INCREASE THE SIZE O MY 7640 ALL IN ONE PRINTER

HOW CAN I INCREASE MY FONT SIZE IN MY HP 7640 PRINTER

Hello jrfirepup, and welcome to the HP Forums.
I see you are looking into printhead options.  This particular model of printer has built-in printheads, making them non-removable.
I would recommend removing the cartridges and performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also suggest this document on Ink Smears or Streaks.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
