How do I lookup a value on a row, then lookup a value in a column?

Question

Ok, this one's a bit challenging.  I need to look up a value in a column (x) on a another table (hold that answer), then take the cell that is to the right of that value and find that value in the header row (y).  Then, report the value where the X and Y cross in the table.  For example, look at 31, find it in the colored cells on the other table (#), then look at the next cell value, which is y, then where 31 and y cross, report value of -8.

Badunit...Hmm.  I'm now getting the error " ! "1:1" isn't a valid reference."
Here's what I have:
=OFFSET(Table 2 :: A1,MATCH(B2,Table 2 :: $A)-1,MATCH(C2,Table 2 :: 1:1)-1)

=OFFSET(Table 2 :: A1,MATCH(B2,Table 2 :: $A)-1,MATCH(C2,Table 2 :: 1:1)-1)
B2 is 31, and C2 are the x/y values.  I noticed that when I changed the name of spacialrecognition to "table 2", everything changed except the last spacialrecognition that's underlined.  This could be the error.
When I try to tell it to look in the header row 1 on Table 2, I start to type Table 2 and the font goes green, but the moment I space to type :: 1:1, the table loses its reference or something?  Even cut and paste of the formula doesn't work?
