How do I make a new tab open to a Mozilla start page?

I can't find out where to make the change so when I open a new tab it opens to a Mozilla start page instead of a blank.

New Tab in Home Page: You can modify Firefox with an extension, though I personally would not want that at all, before dismissing a tab I make sure there is nothing in the tab in a backward direction, and would consider looking at anything but a blank page for a new tab as a distracting encumbrance but you can do what you ask for.

Dear Helpful Open Source people.
I would like to disable the "New Tab opened" that appears for 3secs when I open a new tab?
I usually open tabs from a search engine's results page expecting the links to be of varying quality. This means that it is efficient to open several links from that page and review and close them sequentially later. A reality of the output of search engines is that your 1st link is sedom the one you want.
This button clutters an already small phone screen. I've hardly the space to click outside it and move on often clicking it by accident. Waiting prevents me scrolling to click the next link for 3 seconds or worse when I scroll prematurely I accidentally click it and jump to that Tab prematurely. I don't need to be told what I just did. I know... There is a perfectly functional tabs button in Firefox Android that let's me jump to my new tab in less than second with 2 presses when I wish to do so.
I appreciate that it's "only" 3 seconds and a 1st world problem, but browsers and OS designers aspire to fast customisable function. Maybe there's a way to get rid of this button?

For some reason, Android calls that little notification bar a "toast" so that's the new tab toast. It was added in Firefox 12.
I can't see any preference to suppress it, so I think that would require filing a new bug (request for enhancement). If you feel strongly, I think you are the best person to file it.

Firefox wont make a new tab while i'm on a page with flash elements.

Whenever i'm on a page with flash elements I cannot make a new tab by hitting Ctrl+T. though Ctrl+click on a link and selecting New Tab from the menue still works. if I have 2 tabs open and one with flash I can go the one without flash on the page and use Ctrl+T make a new tab.

If a plugin has focus then that plugin handles all key presses, so you can't open a new tab via the keyboard unless you first set focus outside that Flash object.

How to change what a new tab opens to when auto:config does not work?

For an unknown reason my new tab changed from google to a weird yahoo one today. I cannot find how to revert it back even after i made google my home page and default search engine. I checked online and saw that perhaps I could fix things with the auto:config but I cannot even get it to open. When I try a search engine opens up. Any help would be appreciated.

The correct name of that page is about:config and not 'auto:config'.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
