How do I monitor a Cisco 1700 Series T1 Serial Port.

I have a Cisco 1721 Router and I am looking to monitor it for hourly statistics to find max and min speeds.  How would I go about doing this?  I know if I do a show interfaces it shows me all the data since the last time the counters were reset.  Thanks for any help.

  • How to move a standalone Cisco C series to UCS managed service profile without losing data?

    Hi,
We currently have a standalone cisco C series server with Windows 2012 installed on the local disks.  We need to move this server to Cisco UCS managed with a service profile but cannot lose the existing data and OS boot method.
Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks

    Hi Adrian,
To be able to accomplish this set the local disk policy to "Any Configuration"  this way UCSM  won't overwrite the current raid configuration on the server.

  • Tunneling on cisco 1700 series

    Dear all,
I have a cisco1700 series route which contains two ethernet ports.I don't want to use serial ports.I have a broad band connection(i.e. through smart bridge). One etherent is connected to smart bridge. & other one to lan.
How can i configure the router by using tuneling so that i can shift all the load on broad band connection?
    Pls. provide each step.
    Thanks
    Tarlochan

Here is a sample configuration for a GRE tunnel:
    Router# configure terminal
    Router(config)# interface Tunnel0
    Router(config-if)# tunnel source
    Router(config-if)# tunnel destination
You can have GRE destinations on the physical interfaces or you can use loopback
    interfaces as well.

I have a cisco 1700 .After a blackout this router is not configured. After recounfigured router save running-config in startup-config and works fine until new blackout. Any idea ?
    Thanks (sorry for my english)

Does it also do the same when you power cycle the router.
Sounds like your conf register is not set correctly.
Do a "show system" and look for "Configuration register is 0x2102" at the bottom of the output.
If its not set to this then you can change it by issuing:
    my_router(config)#config-register 0x2102

  • How to transfer file from PC to PC via serial port using labview

I need to transfer files(.txt, .doc, .xls) from PC to PC via serial port using LabVIEW. Is it possible to transfer files, if so how to transfer?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, it is possible to transfer files with the serial port using LabVIEW.  Files are just collections of bytes and the serial port is pretty good at shipping bytes from one PC to another.  You need to connect the serial ports together with a null modem cable.
First, take a look at the example for serial communication.   In LabVIEW, go to the Help menu and select "Find Examples...".  From there you can search for "serial" or navigate to Hardware Input and Output >> Serial.  Select the "Basic Serial Write and Read.vi".  Experiment with that example to gain confidence on the serial communication methods.
Next, it's time to learn about how to read and write files.  For that, the examples could be somewhat confusing since they all deal with files that are presumed to have data of a specific type in them.  I would recommend just getting familiar with the functions on the File I/O palette.  Specifically, get to know the following functions.
Open/Create/Replace File - On your destination side, you'll need to create the copy of the file that you are trying to transfer
Close File - When you are finished reading from or writing to a file, you should close it.  It cleans up the memory being used and finalizes any write operations that are still floating in the write buffer.
Read From Binary File - The best way to read from a file when you do not really care what type of file it is.  In your case, you just want to get those bytes read and sent out so they can be written down at the destination.
Write to Binary File - At the destination side, this is what will store those bytes to the file you created with number 1.
Get File Size (under the Advanced File Functions sub-palette) - You need to know how big the file is so you know when you are finished.
OK, so once you are able to create files, write bytes to them, and read bytes from existing files you can move on to transferring.
The basic method I would suggest is to have the user specify a source file on the source PC and a destination folder on the destination PC.  Then, find out the size of the source file using number 5.  Divide that size number by the number of bytes you feel like transferring at once.  The serial buffers are usually around 32k (if I remember correctly) so do not exceed that.  Now begin sending data by reading some number of bytes and wiring that string output to the VISA Write function.  On the destination side, you'll want to be monitoring the serial port for bytes and reading them when they arrive.  Wire that string to the Write to Binary File function to add them to your destination file.
That is the basic outline of how to do it.  You have to be careful not to overload the write and read buffers on the serial ports.  Initially you can use delays on the sending side to make sure the reading side has enough time to digest.  To get things moving faster, you can bring in some flow control.
If all that sounds a bit intimidating, there are Alliance Member companies out there (such as PrimeTest Automation) who can write such code for you and even provide a turnkey solution for you.

  • How to decode a set of datas received from serial port and display image on a canvas based on CVI ?

    Hi !
I have received a set of datas via rs232 and it contains picture messages. I have to decode the datas first and then display them on a canvas.
I have known several functions that may be used . Such as
    int SetBitmapData (int bitmapID, int bytesPerRow, int pixelDepth, int colorTable[], unsigned char bits[], unsigned char mask[]);
    int CanvasDrawBitmap (int panelHandle, int controlID, int bitmapID, Rect sourceRectangle, Rect destinationRectangle);
However,I don't know how to set the following parameters according to the actual pixel values and color values.
int bytesPerRow, int pixelDepth, int colorTable[], unsigned char bits[], unsigned char mask[]
What's more,I have no idea how to decode the datas.
The  attachment is a incomplete project. I will be very appreciated if anyone could help me .
    Best regards.

Decode and display image.zip ‏212 KB

Well, things are getting a bit clearer now.
    1. Your image is actually 240x240 pixel (not 320x240 as you told before). The size of image data is 57600 bytes which corresponds to that frmat (I was puzzled by such a data size compared with larger image dimensions!)
    2. The image is a 8-bits-per-pixel one; this means that you must provide a color palette to create the bitmap
    3. You cannot simply copy image data into bitmap fields in CVI: CreateBitmap always produce an image with pixeldepth matched with display colour depth (normally 24 or 32 bpp)
All that means that you must:
    1. Create the appropriate color palette with 256 colors: it may be a grayscale or color palette depending on camera characteristics. Grayscale palette can be found in my sample project, while sample colour palettes can be found here (here the description of a "standard" 8-bpp color palette)
    2. Create the bits array correctly dimensioned for the color depth of your monitor
    3. Get each pixel value from the camera, lookup in the color palette for the appropriate colour and create the RGB informations into the bits array in memory
    4. Display the bitmap on the canvas
As a first step, I would configure my system for 256-color display setting, create a bitmap and simply copy image data into it: you should be able to get the correct image back to your screen.
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • Test Network Setup with 1700 Series Routers

    Hi,
I'm relatively new to Cisco equipment use. Fortunately I have in my possession two spare Cisco 1700 series routers with which I can set up a lab to learn and play.
I'm not sure what cards to get for them--they have none. Can someone offer guidance? My guess is I can get second hand WIC's on e-bay but I'm not certain the models or options I need.
My goals would be to do the following, at a minimum, (I think! I'm open to suggestions on other options or limitations I might face)
    1. Configure a routed network between two subnets connected by a router.
    2. Configure the routers to connect to each other, as one would do for say a T1 connection between two remote offices, each having a subnet connected.
Right now the routers have no cards.
    Best regards,
    Will

    Will
I can see benefit from having 1 serial link/subnet and 2 LAN subnets, especially in the variety of scenarios that you could implement with that combination of equipment. (all subnets on a router in the same network, 2 subnets in a network and the other subnet in another network, all subnets in different networks, dynamic routing protocols with auto sumarization enabled, dynamic routing protocols with auto summarization disabled, OSPF on the routers when connected by serial interface or OSPF on the routers when connected by Ethernet interface (is there a DR elected in both situations?)

  • How to control an Xserve G4 with the serial port

I have an Xserve G4 first generation, and was wondering exactly how you would go about connecting to it via serial port incase I need to change something when there is a network issue. I have looked around the internet without much success. It has Leopard Server on it, so Apple says the baud rate is 56700, and 8bit, no parity. So that's all set in the client machine, which is a MacBook Pro with a USB to Serial adapter on it, which shows up in Zterm. Once I'm in Zterm, it just sits there, and pressing enter doesn't prompt a log in. Does anyone see what else I'm most likely missing?
    Thanks

Thanks for the reply Cemelot. Yes, I did create a profile in ZTerm. This is what I have it set to.
I also read that you're supposed to run the command "/usr/libexec/getty serial.57600 /dev/tty.serial" on the Xserve itself.  It made no difference if I did that or not. I also checked to make sure tty.serial was inside /dev/. Anything else I'm missing? Thanks again.

  • How to read serial port and substring

    I am new for labview .I send data from microcontroller with C languange every 1 minute this codeprintf("T%3.2f,H%3.2f",fTemp_true,fRh_true);
And I read data with Hyperterminal it show this T29.11,H67.88 I want to show 29.11 and 67.88 only and stroe in database. I study connect serial port in example and I have a question. If I use this code. Can I auto read every 1 minute or this code can read 1 time only and I have to click every 1 minute. How to auto read when I send data to serial port with microcontroller every 1 minute. And I cannot substring 29.11 and 67.88 because %3.2f can show T29.11,H67.88 or T129.11,H100 . and  How can I simple send data to database. Thank you .

No, you don't have to click run every minute. You just need to place a while loop around the VISA Read. You could use Wait (ms) but it would be better to use something like the Elapsed Time function and wire the time has elapsed output to a case statement with the VISA Read inside the true case.
This is one way to parse the string:
If you have the database connectivity toolkit, you can easily write to a database. There is also something called LabSQL.

does FE_PORT: Fast Ethernet 0 imply or point to Fa0/0 on my router
My router is suppose to have 10.0.0.3 255.0.0.0
    Gateway of 10.0.0.1 255.0.0.0
    My TFTP Server 10.0.0.2 255.0.0.0
How do I get the MAC address of the Router or the TFTP Server and which one  is required?
my Ethernet port is 100Mb/Sec I cant tell whether it is full duplex or not so How do i set this FE_SPEED_MODE: Auto???
