How do I move a P6 SQL 2008 database to SQL 2012

I have backed up and restored P6 from one server to another server. I have ran a couple of suggested scripts to sync the PMDB database with the Master database with little success. I am still unable to logg on to the PMDB database with P6 Pro. I would appreciate any help that is available.
Thanks

  • How to configure log files in SQL 2012?

I'm installing a SharePoint Solution and using Microsoft SQL 2012 and I have limited knowledge in installing SQL.  I simply run the wizard and create the DB for SharePoint.
Is there any links/materials available demonstrating how to correctly configure the log files step by step in a specific partition during the SQL installation for SharePoint 2013?
    thanks,

    Hello,
SQL Server database log files benefit from RAID 1 and RAID 10 configurations. RAID 10 is recommended for both data files and log files.
To control de grow of transaction log files, please backup them regularly. The following article may explain you in detail why:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175495.aspx
Monitor the growth of log files using Performance Monitor and the SQLServer:Databases --> Log Growths counter. Adjust the size of log files until Log Growths
    is constantly zero.
    Hope this helps.

  • SQLCLR "Create Assembly" validation in SQL 2012 vs 2008

    Greetings, all.
Could someone describe how the assembly validation steps in SQL 2012 have changed relative to SQL 2008R2?
My understanding thus far is that the .NET 4.0 SQLCLR runtime requirement now precludes the use of mixed-mode assemblies. If a CREATE ASSEMBLY validation failure result includes messages such as the detection of unmanaged pointers, is that indicative of
the cut-and-dried, no-way-around-it discovery of a mixed-mode assembly that can
never be registered in SQL 2012?
I have a third-party assembly which registers and operates normally in SQL 2008R2, but when I try to create the assembly in our SQL 2012 test environment, it fails validation, with mostly "Unexpected type on stack" or "Unmanaged pointer found"
errors. I'm suspecting these errors are why the assembly won't register even though CORFLAGS indicates it is a "Pure IL" assembly (and I realize CORFLAGS can be faked).
Are there any options available? The assembly in question is Oracle.DataAccess.dll, and is part of an assembly that (as one might imagine) collects certain data from Oracle in a SQLCLR method as part of one of our business reporting requirements.
It appears at the moment I may be forced to modify the tool to use the now-deprecated Microsoft Oracle data client, which I am loathe to do for it having been deprecated and much slower than the Oracle-provided version.
If there is no workaround, I would respectfully suggest that the "upgrade advisor" team include this kind of review when inspecting existing databases containing .NET assemblies. If we ultimately cannot register this particular third-party assembly
(which has been part of a working component for several years), it will be a *huge* detriment to our database migration - a far cry from the minor warning about certain geography types provided by the upgrade advisor. It would represent a significant breaking
    change for our environment.
Thanks for any information that could be provided.

    Thanks for your reply.
Yes, you are correct in that SQL Server wants to use only "Pure IL" assemblies rather than mixed-mode assemblies. However, when an attempt is made to register an assembly in the SQLCLR that is "mixed mode" (not pure IL), the Verifier respoinds with "Unverifiable
PE/Native code stub." This is not the error I am receiving with the assembly in question.
SQL2012 and SQL2008R2 do not support the same version of the .NET runtime in the SQLCLR subsystem. The former supports 4.0, while the latter supports 2.0 through 3.5. So it is not possible to create a test case with precisely the conditions you specify -
that is, using the same version of .NET in SQL2012 and SQL2008R2 - unless there is some undocumented startup switch or configuration file modification that can be made of which I am not aware.
The failure mode I am seeing is specifically tied to the reference of unmanaged
code references, eg unmanaged pointers. The 2.x assembly registered an working in SQL2008R2 (and its predecessors) contains multiple references to functions with unmanaged pointers, yet registers and works properly when the assembly is CREATED with PERMISSION_SET
= UNSAFE. I expect the same behavior in SQL 2012 - an assembly with references to things like unmanaged pointers should still verify when PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE is specified.
This is why I am questioning whether the semantics of PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE in conjunction with the CREATE ASSEMBLY statement have changed between SQL2008 and SQL2012. To me, it appears that SQL2008R2 and its predecessors verified assemblies via the internal
equivalent of a PEVERIFY /MD when PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE is used, and PEVERIFY /IL when it is not. In SQL2012, it appears that the equivalent of PEVERIFY /IL is done
regardless of the presence of PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE. This, to my understanding, is contrary to the whole point of PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE.
PEVERIFY /IL on the previous version of the assembly generates precisely the same kinds of errors generated by the CLR Verifier in SQL2008
without PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE. When the latter is specified, the assembly registers and works normally. I contend that the CLR Verifier in SQL2012 is ignoring the PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE qualifier, and hence my search for more information
about how the semantics of this command may have changed specifically for SQL2012.
IF there is an unsupported/undocumented method of allowing the SQLCLR to support both .NET 4.0 and .NET 2.0, I would be very interested in exploring how to leverage it.
    Thank you for your interest.

  • How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012

How to restore SQL Server 2008 database to SQL Server Express 2012.
I BACKED UP a SQL Server 2008 database from work, which runs the enterprise version of 2008, and I tried to RESTORE it to my new 64-Bit home PC which is running the new SQL Server Express 2012 64-Bit (Advanced Edition).
But if fails. I get the following message text.
Can anyone help me please. I thought restoring a 2008 database to the later version 2012 would be possible.
Here is the error message. Thanks.
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The database was backed up on a server running version 8.00.2039. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 11.00.3128. Either restore the database on a server that supports the backup, or use a

Are you sure your database is SQL server 2008 from error message it seems your SQL server version is 2000.I guess you have multiple versions of SQL server.
AFAIK you cannot restore backup of SQL server 2000 to 2012 directly .Restore it first to SQL 2008/2008R2 or 2005 then take backup again of new database created and then you would be able to restore it on 2012.Its kind of intermediate way
Also make sure your DB size is less than 10 G as max DB size supported by Express edition is 10 G and if your DB size is more than 10 G restore will fail.
You are also trying to restore enterprise DB backup on express edition so you will loose enterprise features on express edition

I have Oracle 9i and Sun Solaris 5.8
I have a table (“TABLE_FILENAME”) with the files name in one directory. (I read the files name in a directory and put it in a table). I charge some files with external tables and then I have to move some fields to another directory and delete others files.
How can I delete files with PL-SQL and How can I move files with PL-SQL?
I have the names of files and the actions (Delete o Move) in a table (“TABLE_FILENAME”) (The files in this table are dynamics).

If you're using 9i then you will find that the new functions UTL_FILE.FCOPY and UTL_FILE.FREMOVE will allow you to do what you want. Check out the documentation for more details.

  • SCCM 2007 database move from SQL 2008 to SQL 2012 SP1

    Hi,
today we tried with moving the sccm DB from our SQL 2008 to SQL 2012. The whole DB process was a success but what bugs me is the reporting services which we also have.
Does the reporting service make automatic transition to the box or do i have to configure separately if yes how?
Also how do we retire the DB on the old server?
    Thank you,

This would be manual process. The simplest way to fix them is to reinstall the reporting point.

  • How to enable remote connections in SQL Server 2008

I'm trying to enable remote connections in SQL Server 2008 R2 as described in the following article.  I see the error message at the top of the article.
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/walzenbach/archive/2010/04/14/how-to-enable-remote-connections-in-sql-server-2008.aspx
One step in the article describes how to enable TCP/IP in Configuration Manager.  Specifically it says that
'SQL Server NETWORK Configuration' should have TCP/IP enabled.
The issue I've encountered is that my Configuration Manager
is different than what appears in the article. My Configuration Manager shows the following:
    SQL Server 2005 Services
SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration (32 bit)
           - Protocols for SQLExpress
SQL Native Client Configuration (32 bit)
           - Client protocols
           - Aliases
Note that I see 'SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration'
rather than that for 2008.  When 'Protocols for SQLExpress'
is expanded, there is a TCP/IP setting, but it's disabled and I see an
Access Denied message if I try to enable this.
I also see a TCP/IP setting under Client protocols and successfully enabled this.  This uses port 1433 and I configured my firewall to accomodate this port as suggested in the article.
I also followed the other steps in the article, but still don't have remote access to SQL Server 2008 R2.  (I can access it from the office.)  I'm wondering if this remote access issue is because SQL Server
2008 Network Configuration does not appear in Configuration Manager
and if so, I'm interested in how this might be resolved.  (I'm running Windows 7 - 64 bit.)
I'd appreciate any ideas on this.  Thanks.

  • Steps to upgrade from sql 2008 r2 se (nonclustered) to sql 2012 se (clustered)

    hello,
I am currently running a non clustered instance of a sqlserver 2008 R2 SE and need to upgrade to a clustered instance of SQLServer 2012 SE. The underlying OS is Windows 2008 R2 SE. I already bought the second server with the same os online but havent installed
    sql 2012 yet.
I am thinking of backing up my databases and script out all the logins and linked servers first.
Then upgrade the SQLServer 2008 R2 SE to 2012 SE. But can I upgrade it to a clustered instance directly? If yes then I can definitely add the other server to the cluster while installing sql.
Can someone point me to the right steps for this upgrade process
    Thanks

    Hello,
Direct  upgrade to cluster is not possible without installing SQL server in cluster aware mode. I would recommend you need to uninstall SQL server 2008 R2 and then create windows cluster between two nodes and then install SQL server in cluster aware
    mode.
You are right with taking up complete backup of all databases with logins and jobs.

  • Upgrade FIM 2010 R2 Sp1 Databases from SQL 2008 R2 to SQL 2012

    Hi,
I want to upgrade my SQL from 2008 R2 to SQL 2012.
    FIM Databases
    1) FIMService Database
    2) FIMSynchronizationService Database
Mentioned above are my FIM databases running on SQL server 2008 R2 . Now I was looking for some article which could tell me if SQL can be upgraded without affecting my existing databases of FIM or if i can move these databases to a new server having SQL
    2012
Activity I want to perform :  Create a fresh  Server of SQL 2012 and move my FIM 2010 databases over it by restoring the backups. but as per the link below it seems not possible!
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/5465.fimilm-how-to-move-the-backend-sql-server-synchronization-service-database.aspx

    Hi Shivam,
Please take a look here: Release Notes for Forefront Identity Manager 2010 R2 SP1.
In the table you have tasks to upgrade SQL for FIMService and FIMSych.
    FIM Service:
Upgrade FIM Service servers to FIM 2010 R2 SP1
Stop FIM Service on all servers
Backup Database [in case rollback needed]
Upgrade SQL to SQL Server 2012
Start FIM Service on all servers
    FIM Synch:
Upgrade FIM Sync to FIM 2010 R2 SP1
    Stop FIM Sync
Backup Database [in case rollback needed]
Upgrade SQL to SQL Server 2012
    Start FIM Sync
If you are not making in-place upgrade, I would do something like here:
    Stop FIM Services
Backup the databases at SQL 2008
Restore backed up databases on SQL 2012
Make sure SQL Agent Jobs are moved (FIMService)
Make sure Broker is enabled on FIMService database
On FIM machines create SQL alias using cliconfg utility. Alias should have the name of "old(sql2008) SQL" and point to new name/instance.
Start FIM Services - they would use "old" name to connect, but it would be translated to new location. So they would start.

  • How can I move clips from one library to another? Clips are still in original drive and not in new drive.

I am using iMovie 10.0.7 on a 1-week old iMac 27" running Yosemite 10.10.2. I migrated from iMovie 9 on a 2008 iMac running Snow Leopard and updated the libraries and events, etc.
I have two external drives connected via USB. I want to move / consolidate the library and clips from one of the external drives to the new iMac's 3TB fusion drive. This is to make room on the external drive to run Time Machine backups.
Apple's instructions on managing libraries and moving/copying clips/events tell me to drag to move between libraries and to Option-drag to copy. However, simply dragging only copies. I find that if I Command-drag the events/clips, I can "move" them. But when I look outside iMovie in the Mac OS X Finder, the event folders and clip files themselves are still sitting in the original drive.
I'm very perplexed as to how to really move the clips and event structure. Should I manually copy the clips and event folder structure outside of iMovie? I worry I will mess up iMovie's internal record keeping and folder structure information.
    Thanks in advance.

Ahh, Ok. I actually had to go to Lynda.com to watch a training video of this highly bassackwards maneuver, but now I have it. In other words, while the intuitive thing is to make a new event to hold the clip you want and then open the old event and drag the clip into it's new event, the only way to accomplish this maneuver is to NOT create a new event, but rather, go to the clip AFTER the one you want to move, select it and then Right-Click on it and select SPLIT EVENT BEFORE SELECTED CLIP (or go to FILE>SPLIT EVENT BEFORE SELECTED CLIP). Then you wait a few seconds while the program thinks a bit (no feedback it is doing this - just a pause) and then it automatically creates a new event with the clip you wanted. Now just double-click the new event and name it something meaningful.
    Thanks for your help!

  • How can I enable embedded pl/sql gateway to run on port 80

I have a new 11G install on OEL 4.0, database created. I would like to be
able to access the instance using the pl/sql gateway. Works fine with
port 8080, the default. How to I enable it to run on port 80?
I found this statement in the following docuementation:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14259/xdb22pro.htm#ADXDB2500
    Using HTTP(S) on Nonstandard Ports
By default, HTTP listens on a nonstandard, unprotected port: 8080. To use HTTP(S) on
the standard port, such as 80, your DBA must chown the TNS listener to setuid ROOT
rather than setuid ORACLE, and configure the port number in the Oracle XML DB
configuration file /xdbconfig.xml.I have root priviledges on the box.
I've tried setting the listener file permissions:
    chown root:dba /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin/tnslsnr
    chmod 6775 /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin/tnslsnr
Also put root in the dba group.
The permissions turn out like this:
    -rwsr-sr-x 1 root dba 830854 Jun 17 21:04 /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin/tnslsnr
I stopped the listener, bounced the database, and started the listener again.
But it still shows the process being owned by oracle:
    oracle 29682 1 0 21:08 ? 00:00:00 /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin/tnslsnr LISTENER -inherit
    Changing the port is easy:

At this point, I can access the apex home page with the following url:
    http://hostname:8080/apex/f?p=4550:10:1454849288245548
I can than change it to port 80:

GRANT SELECT ON <TABLE_NAME> TO  <DESTINATION SCHEMA>A simple way would be to use CREATE Table with select syntax (in destination schema)
CREATE TABLE <TABLE_NAME> AS SELECT * FROM <SOURCE SCHEMA>.<TABLE_NAME><li>However, you would be in <b><u>trouble when the table has index, constraints and triggers</u></b>.
So you can better of grab the DDL statement of the table(and any additional components) andd then create the table in the destination schema. You can use SQL developer, Toad or Apex's Object browser for this.
After the table is created, Insert the records using SELECT.
INSERT INTO <TABLE_NAME> SELECT * FROM <SOURCE SCHEMA>.<TABLE_NAME>This question is discussed in great detail in this <b>AskTom thread</b>
