SCCM 2007 database move from SQL 2008 to SQL 2012 SP1

Hi,
today we tried with moving the sccm DB from our SQL 2008 to SQL 2012. The whole DB process was a success but what bugs me is the reporting services which we also have.
Does the reporting service make automatic transition to the box or do i have to configure separately if yes how?
Also how do we retire the DB on the old server?
Thank you,

This would be manual process. The simplest way to fix them is to reinstall the reporting point.

  • Copy Templates from VMM 2008 to VMM 2012 R2

    Hi,
I would like to know if it was possible to copy Templates from VMM 2008 to VMM 2012 R2 ?
    Thank you

I have never tried this, but you can for sure re-use the physical objects like VHD's, ISO's etc.
The template configuration and profiles are metadata stored in the database.
Based on how things changed with VMM 2012 compared with 2008, you will have several new options and capabilites in the profiles for 2012.
I would recommend you to re-create those (hardware profiles, guest os profiles, application profiles etc) in 2012, as there is no logical mapping from the previous versions.

  • SCCM 2007 - All clients from primary site have vanished from central site collections

    Hi all,
we have a SCCM 2007 R2 setup with one central site, one Primary Site (A) with a secondary site hanging off it and another Primary Site (B). Suddenly all the clients from the Primary Site A (and also it's Secondary Site) have vanished from the central
site. All the clients are still present when we check Collections from the admin console on Primary Site A site server - they have simply disappeared when we check Collections from the Central Site admin console.
Can anyone provide any info on a good starting point for troubleshooting this issue? As a sidenote, we can still push packages out to the Primary Site A distribution point and both the Primary and Central site can communicate/ping each other.
Any help/info would be much appreciated!
    Thanks

    Check the
site replication on central site, is that SQL is working fine, and also see the
inbox folder in central site, might be there is backlog and those DDR files are
not processing, and after maintenance they got deleted.<o:p></o:p>
    please run
the heartbeat discovery by hour or day, and once the clients will sent all the
DDR files then they will appears again.<o:p></o:p>

It is not uncommon to experience performance problems following an upgrade when there are issues with original query.  Non-sargable expressions like Olaf called out are often the culprit, as well as lack of useful indexes and statistics.
The optimizer cannot glean accurate row count estimates or use indexes efficiently so the resultant plan may not be optimal for the task at hand.  It is only by happenstance that old plan performed better; it could just as well be the other way around,
but again only by chance since the optimizer is guessing.
You might also try using EXISTS instead of SELECT COUNT(*)...= 0:
    AND EXISTS(SELECT *
    FROM dbo.roostermutaties AS RM2
    WHERE P.ID_personen = ID_personen
    AND GR.ID_groepsroosters = ID_groepsroosters
    AND CONVERT(VARCHAR(8), begintijdafwezig, 108) = CONVERT(VARCHAR(8),

    ELSE COALESCE (RM.nieuweBegintijd, GR.begintijd) END, 108)

    CASE WHEN GR.Tijdspan = 2 THEN R.eindtijd2 ELSE R.eindtijd END) ELSE COALESCE (RM.nieuweEindtijd, GR.eindtijd) END, 108))

  • Regarding database migration from Oracle to MS SQL

    Hi All,
In my application, the existing database is oracle. we need to migrate from Oracle db to MS SQL.
We need procedure is as below
1.export data from Oracle and keep it in a file.(.dmp)
2.Import data to MS SQL from the exported oracle file.
and vice versa from MS SQL to Oracle.
my question is- is it possible to import .bmp (oracle export data) into MS SQL.
    Please clarify me.

There are couple of options to get data from Oracle to MS SQL.
The simplest is to create a linked server in MS SQL that points to Oracle and copy data with a query like select * into my_mssqlTable from oracle.schema.table; via the linked server.
Some data types will not be supported.
That is for one time copy.
If you need a close to real time replication you can use MS replication (I would not recommend because it creates triggers on Oracle tables), or you can use GoldenGate or DataCurrents or other replication products.

  • SCCM 2007 database query for AD security group for machines

    dear,
I am had created security DL in AD for machine to deploy software  and trying to link in SCCM 2007 with collection but could not
i have tried query base following below link but its does not help
    http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/892-deploy-software-through-ad-groups-linked-to-collections-in-sccm/
type all query but could not find in table (SystemGroupName).
    [email protected]

Go to properties of you collection and add a new membership rule to add the security group
SCCM use discovery methods to get information from AD. Make sure AD system discovery and AD security group discovery are enabled for the SCCM site. Once you add machines to the security group, you need to wait till the next discovery cycle is completed.
The discovery cycle runs on a schedule set by SCCM administrator.

  • "Software Usage Metrics initialize failed" error when open Report Manager, after moving ReportServer from SSRS 2008 to SSRS 2012 (Native Mode)

I've asked this question in SQL Server Upgrade forume, I'm asking here as well:
    Your help is highly appreciated!
After migrating ReportServer db from 2008 to 2012, when access Report Manager throughhttp://myserver:80/Reports, I got the error below:
ui!ReportManager_0-3!11d8!02/04/2013-15:19:12:: e ERROR: Software Usage Metrics initialize failed
    The process is below:
•I successfully installed SQL Server 2012 (64-bit) Enterprise as a Native Mode on a server who runs Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (64-bit).
•I restored "ReportServer2008To2012" and "ReportServer2008To2012TempDB" in SSRS 2012 from the db files backed up in SQL 2008. In SSRS 2008, I have SSRS Model, ad-hoc reports based on model, and I also have canned reports built through BIDS
    report server project.
•I reconfigured both databases' Compatibility level to SQL Server 2012(110) from SQL Server 2008(100).
•I configured SSRS through Reporting Services Configuration Manager as below:
      > I chosen "Use built-in account:" as Service Account
    > In "Database" tab, I selected "Choose an existing report server database" and choose "ReportServer2008To2012" db, I used "Windows Authentication" (my login has the System Administrator priviledge). I got all 4 parts
success: Verifying database sku = Success; Generating rights scripts = Success; Applying connection rights = Success; Setting DSN = Success.
    > I went to "Scale-out Deployment" to check if the initializing succeed, I found nothing there.
Here are what I did from different approaches:
A •I went to "Encryption Keys" and restored the key I backed up from SSRS 2008, after retoring, I got two initialized instances: One is on my current server (SSRS 2012), the other one is from the old server (SSRS 2008).
I deleted the old one(SSRS 2008) through "Remove Server" action and kept the one on my current server(SSRS 2012).
After I restart SSRS service, and tried to connect Report Manager, I got "An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details."
I checked the log file, the error is actually "ERROR: Software Usage Metrics initialize failed"
B •I also tried to "Delete Encrypted Content" and did see the SSRS was initialized through checking it on "Scale-out Deployment", however when I tried to open Report Manager, I got the same error.
Anyone had the same issue? Any solution? Thanks in advance!

  • PrintBrm.exe - Migrating printers from Server 2008 R2 to 2012 R2

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to migrate our printers from a Windows Server 2008 R2 to a brand new Windows Server 2012 R2. While doing this, we also want to switch the drivers to a newer version. As I successfully tried this a year before with the PrintBrm.exe (but from Server
    2008 R2 to another Server 2008 R2), I choosed this tool again.
Unfortunately it fails at some point this time. The printer export and import succeeds every time, but if I'm trying to print a testpage on the new server, it won't stop printing hyroglyphs... Only if I install a printer manually (same driver), it works
    fine.
Do you have any solutions or ideas for that? For better troubleshooting, I attached an image of one failed testpage and the code I've written, too. Looking forward for some ideas.
    Best regards, Andreas

    Hi Andreas Remdt,
Based on your description, did you mean that complete the process of migration successfully? Would you please

  • Upgrade SQL/SSRS 2008R2 to 2012 SP1

    I'm testing upgrading SQL/SSRS from SQL 2008 R2 SP2 to
SQL 2012 SP1 (11.0.3349). Most of my reports' data source is a Dynamics NAV 2009R2 SQL DB
where most of the number fields are decimal(38,20). I'm finding that when I have
a zero value in a column on a report that the report loses formatting and throws
xml exceptions when rendered to Excel. So a field formatted for currency would
become 0.00000000000000000 and renders as text in Excel 2010, but if there's a
value in the cell then the formatting is fine. I'm looking on the MS site and
there is documentation that this is an Excel issue and was supposed to be fixed
in a CU for Office 2010 Excel, but I didn't see it in the release notes for the
CU. The error is "Excel found unreadable context.." There are no errors in the
report itself only rendering to Excel. Rendering to other formats is fine.
I think I've found a workaround where I change the value in a report by using an if statement
to make it equal to zero (IIF(value=0,0,value), but I've got several hundred
reports in my library and I wouldn't even know how many cells I'd have to
    change.
I'm just looking to see if anyone else has ran into this issue
    during their upgrade testing process.
I can repeat the error in a new report if I use as a Dataset
    Select Cast(0 as decimal(38,20)) d1
     , CAST(0 as decimal(10,2)) d2
Export to Excel gets this error
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <recoveryLog xmlns="<logFileName>error056200_05.xml</logFileName><summary>Errors">http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/spreadsheetml/2006/main"><logFileName>error056200_05.xml</logFileName><summary>Errors
were detected in file 'C:\Users\...ME...\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\P42V8D4D\_TestExcel.xlsx'</summary><repairedRecords summary="Following is a list of repairs:"><repairedRecord>Repaired
Records: Cell information from /xl/worksheets/sheet1.xml part</repairedRecord></repairedRecords></recoveryLog>
The d1 column is now formatted as text 0.00000000000000000000 instead of as currency and the d2 column is formatted correctly

    Hi Skywalker73,
The issue seems to be related to the Excel 2010 or the Excel 2007-2010 rendering extension in SSRS 2012. If possible, I suggest that you keep the Office 2010 and the SQL Server 2012 up to date, and check the issue again.
As a workaround, you can enable the Excel 2003 rendering extension in SSRS 2012, and use this render when exporting to Excel. Please use the following steps:
    1. Navigate to <drive:> Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\ MSRS11.<Instance Name>\Reporting Services\ReportServer\.
    2. Backup the rsreportserver.config file before you modify it.
    3. Open the RSReportserver.config file with Notepad format, and modify the EXCEL render extension as follows:
    <Extension Name="EXCEL" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ExcelRenderer.ExcelRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ExcelRendering"/>
Then, the Excel 2003 render extension will be available in the Export drop-down list.
You can also enable the Excel 2003 render extension in Report Designer by setting the same render extension to visible in the following config file:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies\RSReportDesigner.config

  • SQL Server Configuration Manager (2012 SP1): "IP All" Setting Not Saving

I have 4 SQL Server 2012 SP1 clusters, and under Network Configuration ->
TCP/IP -> Protocol (tab), I am able to switch
Listen All from Yes to No. However, when I hit
OK (or Apply), I get the message:
Any changes made will be saved; however they will not take effect until the service is stopped and restarted.
    OK, fine.
Now, if I re-open the TCP/IP properties, Listen All is back to
    Yes.
This happens even after I restart the SQL Server service, and it happens on all 4 instances.
I have checked the version of Configuration Manager - 2011.0110.2100.060. I've compared this with a (non clustered) SQL Server 2012 where I can flip the
IP All field at whim, the versions are the same (as are the SQL Server versions,
    11.0.3000.0 Build 7601).
I've also ensured that under IP Addresses, the one that I want to use has
Enabled = Yes, all other IPs have Enabled = No.
Neither BOL nor Google have any useful information for me.
Has anyone seen this before? Bug or WAD (and I'm doing something wrong)?

    Hi,
    Per
Case 4: SQL Server is installed in a clustered environment:
On cluster, you cannot configure SQL Server to listen on a specific IP addresses. You must chose IPALL. The IP addresses on which the cluster instance will be listening on is determined by cluster resources (configurable through Cluster Administrator,
by adding IP Address resources under SQL Network Name resource).
    Here is a workaround:

Can anybody shed any light on querying the SQL DB for Software metering from SCCM using a machine name. I am basically looking for the table names etc?
    Thanks
    Craig

    Hi,
    They are documented here:

  • Database movement from Hp 11.00 to AIX 5.3 (db version : 8.1.7.3 )

    Hi.
I need to move a database from HP 11.00 machine to IBM AIX 5.3 machine. the database version is 8.1.7.3. and is around 400gb. Will the normal database cloning work? or what the best method to do it.
pls help me in doing this activity.
    Thanks in advance
    Vijay

At your version, the following can be performed.
1)Create an empty shell in AIX 5.3 that of your Source Database.
    2)Export the Source database.
    3)Import into the Target Database.
Export/import can be through creating the dumpfiles at the file system level and it has to be transferred to the Target Server to perform Import. You can Also use the Unix Pipe options to perform the export/import simultaneously without creating the Export dump files.

  • CMS database move from Lync 2010 to 2013 went well but.....

Something odd when I was done. Everything went perfectly. No errors at all and went as expected. I noticed though after everything was done and I had not yet uninstalled the CMS from Lync 2010 that two services on the Lync 2010 were stopped but in an Automatic
startup state. They are the "Lync Server File Transfer Agent' and the "Lync Server Master Replicator Agent'. Thought it was odd they were both stopped. I am sure it had something to do with the CMS move and all the scripting that goes on. The rest
of the Lync services are running.
I am thinking though if they were supposed to be stopped, why not disable them. Why leave them at Automatic. I am not seeing any errors or warnings at all on the Lync 2010 or 2013 servers. Application, System and Lync Server logs are clean. Everything appears
    to be OK.
Thing that concerns me though is when I run the Get-CsManagementStoreReplicationStatus on the 2013 FE, the databases all come back looking good with UpToDate = True but the last replication was last night (about 8-9 hours ago) shortly after I completed the
    procedure.
I want to just uninstall the CMS on Lync 2010 which is the last step but I want to make sure everything is OK before I do. Not sure if I should start those services. I never rebooted the 2010 server after moving the CMS. Seems if I did, those services would
have tried to start. Very confused here.
Wanted to add also that I have both the above services on the 2013 FE server and they are both running. And, when I run Get-CsManagementStoreReplicationStatus -CentralManagementStoreStatus on my Lync 2013 FE, it says it is the active master and active file
transfer agent so maybe that is why the services are stopped? If so, what if I had rebooted the 2010 server. Those services would have tried to start because they are set to Automatic.
I guess the real question here is how often should the Lync servers being updating their replicas with each other. We have a very small environment right now with only a few hundred users.

This process of transferring information updates from master to replica is called replication. The replication process consists of copying information between directories from the master to the replicas, applying the changes received to the
replica and report status back to the master.
The MASTER generates the data package containing new changes to CMS and stores a copy in each to-replica directory for every replica.
The data package must be copied to all replicas. All Lync Server 2013 servers, except the Edge Server, uses the Windows file copy SMB protocol mechanism to push the data package from the CMS master to the replica.
For Edge servers, since Edge servers is not a member of domain, the file copy is performed over an HTTPS channel. The Edge Server runs a Web Service on the port specified for the ManagementServices in the topology document. The default port is 4443. Even
you Move CMS store and CMS Master service from 2010 to 2013, the replication is a logical concept so you can replicate CMS information with the help of Lync server 2013 CMS master service.
You can refer to the link below, it is for Lync server 2010 but similar for Lync server 2013:

  • Migrating PDC role from SBS 2008 to Server 2012

    Greetings everyone
Are there any special considerations or steps that need be done when elevating my BDC running Server 2012 from a PDC running SBS 2008? We are wanting to remove the SBS machine entirely as we no longer need it and could possibly be of use to one of our clients
    down the road.
    Thank You
Additional Info: We have already migrated Exchange to the cloud and is no longer hosted on our SBS server. The only function the SBS server has at the moment is being the PDC.

If you haven't seen it already you'll probably want to check out
http://blogs.technet.com/b/infratalks/archive/2012/09/07/transition-from-small-business-server-to-standard-windows-server.aspx which describes the entire process, though obviously in your case you don't need to worry about the Exchnage side of things.
The main thing in your case will moving the FSMO roles over to the new server so the old SBS box is no longer required. There's a link to the process in that blog post, though as I understand it when 2012 is the destination the recommended route is to grab
the roles from 2012 rather than give them up from 2008. There's a good step by step guide to the process here
http://www.waronerrors.com/kb/how-to-transfer-fsmo-roles-from-windows-server-2003--2008-to-windows-server-2012.aspx though obviously the main thing to note is that as soon as you move the FSMO roles you have 21 days in which to complete the migration. After
that time the SBS box will automatically restart periodically (I think after an hour from memory).
