How do I pass a default parameter to a CR XI report in VB6?

Hi,
How do I pass a default parameter to a CR XI report in VB6?
For example I have a parameter list of years from 2000 to 2020 and I want to pass on the result of str(Year(Now)) so that the user automatically sees the current calendar year as his/her default option - but can choose another year from the drop down list - if wished.
"AddDefaultValue" seems to have no effect at all (probably because the current year already exists in the parameter list)
"AddCurrentValue" removes the parameter altogether and the report defaults to the current year.
Any suggestions?

This is what I am doing but I cannot get the current year to appear as the default in the drop down parameter list also it appears I cannot clear the existing report parameter fields.
This is my code:

The result of the above as that the intially declared parameter (Str(Year(Now)))
- which is "2009" - now appears at the top of the generated parameter list but is not the default parameter and the user still has to drop down the list box to choose the year.
Any advice on both these issues would really help !

Passing multi value parameter to the Drill through report

Hi
I have two reports say Report A and Report B.
Both reports using same parameters.
I am Navigating from Report A to Report B using Jump to Report option.
Now when I pass multiple parameter to the Report B it only displays first parameter results.
In report B I have parameter multi value select to true.
I would like to know if its possible or not to pass multi value parameter in drill through report?
I would appreciate if someone can help me here.

Yes you can pass multi value parameters to a drill through report.

How do I pass a mdx parameter with a label?

I have a form where a user clicks on something and it will launch another form which accepts a date as a parameter.
The date could be Fiscal year, Fiscal Year and Quarter or Fiscal Year, Quarter and Month.
This works fine with my query which will accept any of the above and return the right results.
I want to be able to use the parameter in the header to show what has been selected.
When I use it now, I get the actual value: [Date].[Fiscal Year].&[FY 13/14]
How do I go about adding a label to this as well as coping with the three different levels it can return ie Year, Year and Quarter and Year, Quarter and Month.

As per my understanding, you have a drillthrough report, when you click a field in main report, it passes parameter to the drillthrough report. You want to show part of parameter value in text box. In order to improve the efficiency of troubleshooting, I
need to ask several questions:
1. “The date could be Fiscal year, Fiscal Year and Quarter or Fiscal Year, Quarter and Month.” Do you want to show the value of the parameter dynamically or just show one of the three formats?
2. “I get the actual value: [Date].[Fiscal Year].&[FY 13/14].” Could you please provide some more detailed information about the parameter? For example, the expression of Available Values and Default Values.
3. What function do you want to achieve? What’s the state of report now? please provide some more detailed information of your requirements. I would be appreciated it if you could provide query and sample data of the report.
Besides, if we want to show part of parameter value a text box, we can add search condition to the query, then use it in parameter expression, please refer to the following steps:
1. In Report Date region, In Query text box in the Dataset, add the search condition using the statement like below:

2. Add a parameter named Engineer_Start_Date, set its type to Date/Time, set its available values and default values.

Save the information which u want to pass to various JSP's inside Session Object.
There is an Object called HttpSession and u can store information inside which other jsp pages within the same domain and same browser instance can use it.
commands which are for ur interests are
<Session Object>.setAttribute("<object name>", <value>);
Example
HttpSession objsession =request.getSession(true); String strName="NEED_HELP":
objSession.setAttribute("Name", strName);
And then u can retreive that information in your n pages.

How can I pass a BLOB parameter 32K from VB to a stored procedure?

I am using Visual Basic 6 and the Oracle database 10g to call stored procedures. I am passing a XML input parameter to this stored proc. This variable has been defined as BLOB in stored proc and as XMLType in the table to which it finally gets stored through procedure.
But there seems to be a limit to the size of a parameter you can pass in. This seems to be 32K!!! It works fine as long as my input is < 32k but once it becomes > 32k, Oracle gives the following error:-
"ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested"
I searched on net and found lots of examples for a workaround with .Net (using OracleLob). For Vb6, the only examples I found were using AppendChunk method etc through a loop, where each call will insert 32k chunk. But, that would mean lots of calls to stored proc, as we need to do this for thousands of files and each file of size > 100k.. So, this method would not be acceptable.
Can someone please help me with this.

If u are not executing the VO after PR. Then you will be able to get the same value as u are using in PR

If by "input array" you mean the keyboard you have to
-capture the input stream from the keyboard in a string or stringbuffer
-parse the string or stringbuffer into pieces which can be converted to numbers
-put the numbers into an array
-pass the array to your class (or method) which operates on it

CR-XI How to prefil Default Parameter value in code

I am setting parameter default value(s) in VB6 code. When the report is launched the default parameter is in the list but not selected. The user has to manually select the value instead of just accepting the default value and pressing enter key to launch the report. I would like parameters to prefil with default values like they did in Crystal version 7 when using the OCX.
I am using CR XI and VB6. I am passing a default parameter by using .
<report object>.ParameterFields(1).AddDefaultValue
If I use <report object>.ParameterFields(1).AddCurrentValue the parameter then the report viewer knows the parameter value and the form does not display the value incase the user desires to change it.
My Question is how can I display the parameter and prefill with the default value. When I use "AddDefaultValue" like above the parameter will be in the dropdown but will be blank when the form opens. This requires the user to use the mouse and click the dropdown to display the default value. I would prefer the default show in the dropdown so the user just has to press the enter key to launch the report (if the user wants to accept all default values).
If this is not possible with the current viewer class then maybe the development team can include in future updates.

How to pass record Group from Forms with DATA_PARAMETER to Reports Server using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT?
When we use products on run time we are using data_parameter for passing record Groups to reports via run_product but now we have to use application server and reports server for same reports.
We met with <FRM-41214 Unable to run reports> for passing DATA_PARAMETER to reports server when used RUN_REPORTS_OBJECT.
How can we pass record Group from Forms with DATA_PARAMETER to Reports Server using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT?

I need to pass a value (parameter) to a BI Publisher report without to show the value to the user. I tried to create an hidden parameter, and tried to pass the value but don't work. I tried to call the report in GET and POST without success.
If the parameter is visible, it works.
Any idea to do it with another method?

The following EL expression work for displaying the parameter inside an outputText component :

The parameter is not sent to the business service when the button is clicked.

I have a requirement for a discoverer report like this: The report will display only details for Suppliers that have expired (or soon to be) Insurance details. That is the Expiration Date is less than or equal to the day the report is being run plus any days specified in the Number of Days in the Future Parameter.
The sample code as:

All you need to do is to create the condition in the discoverer instead of in the query.
Create a custom folder containing the following sq (note that i removed the condition)l:

Then create a discoverer report using this folder using all fields.
Create a new calculation as (use this exact syntax):
Sysdate + :No_of_Days_in_the_Future
Create a new condition:
pca.expiration_date <= <your calculation>
To complete it add a sort as you did in the SQL.
That's it.
