How do i postscript from CC Indesign 2014

I have upgraded to CC Indesign 2014 how do i install ppd driver and postscript. I need to postscript an A4 file to A3 pdf size.

Do you really need distilling?
Nowadays directly exporting PDF files is the recommended method of creating PDF files, isn't it?
Consider creating new document of A3 size, placing (File>Place) your original A4 indd doc here, resizing to fit and exporting pdf.
Direct resizing not always works smoothly, so placing is preferable.
It takes longer to write the procedure down than to do it

How do I open a CC InDesign 2014 to Indesign CC? It won't open on InDesign CC

    Hi jesslucia2,
Are you facing issue opening files created on CC2014 on CC version, If yes then you can follow the following article. You have to save the files in IDML format in order to open them in older versions.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/save-indesign-files-previous-versions.html
If you have CC version installed , you can also try to upgrade to CC2014 version from Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App and open the files without any problem.

  • In InCopy, how can I paste from one InDesign table to another without also copying formatting?

I'm attempting to paste information from one indesign document to another, but the styles are different. Pasting without formatting not working in a table. When I paste over, it retains the container style from the original table.
I have "Text Only" selected from my Clipboard Handling preferences, so I'm not sure what else to do. I know I can hit escape to switch to the text selection instead of a container, but this only selects the text from one cell. I'd like to copy over the entire table, instead of copying cell by cell.
How can I paste a table into another, without copying the formatting?

Copy/Paste whole cells will always retain formatting.
What you have to do is: Copy/Paste Without Formatting the text contents of the individual cell.
You have to do that individually for each cell, if you want to copy over text of a whole table.
A better approach would be to:
    1. Copy the whole table to Excel (or a different spread sheet application)
    2. Copy again from that
    3. Select one single cell and paste
In that case "Text Only" should be selected from the Clipboard Handling Preferences.

  • Can I/how do I switch from PremierePro CC 2014 - to 2013 version

My MacBook Pro is very old now (ca 6 years) and I've been told by a trusted industry expert that I shouldn't upgrade to the latest OS as a result.
I just started a 30 day free trial for Premiere Pro - but am experiencing severe performance issues - mainly terrible choppy preview play back as well as on sequences even after renders. My internet also slows dramatically to the point where I can't do anything. I'm working with HD material off an external drive - and have no trouble viewing or editing like this in FCP7..
My friend tells me to use the PPro CC 2013 version instead - but I can't see how to do that from the Adobe website...
    Hope someone can help.
    Thanks,

  • How do I downgrade from Illustrator CC 2014 to just CC?

I have a plug in that only works in CC, is there a way I can downgrade from CC 2014 to just CC?

You should be able to just download and install the original CC version as the 2014 versions are separate standalone installs and they don't install over the old version.

Any suggestion on how to save backwards from AE CC 2014 to CS6? I just downloaded AE CC and when I try to open it, it says that this version is not compatible with my OSX (10.9.4). Is there any alternative way to save/share a file so someone with CS6 can use my CC 2014 AE file?

  • How to make an index in InDesign CC 2014.1 using a topics list?

    Hi all,
I have read the long help document on how to make an index in InDesign CC 2014.1 using a topics list, and still can't work out what to do.
I have done a 548 page book, using a document for each chapter, and a book file to put them all together in the right order.
I now need to make an index at the back, as the author has many quotes throughout the book at the start of each chapter and section.
I have a list of those people quoted and want to upload this list and get the index feature in InDesign to find all instances of the name occurring in the entire book.
After reading the help document I still cannot work out how to do this.
    My questions are:
    1. Do you have to use an InDesign document as a source for the list of topics? If so, should the document be added to the book file or outside it?
It seems a bit recursive to have the list of topics in an ID document that is in the book file.
    2. Once you have uploaded the topics into the Index feature, how do you get it to look for all instances of that 'topic' througout the entire book? I can't figure that out from the help documents. What do I select? Do I do it from the Index panel? Do I highlight the text in the source document? Not sure how to do this...
    3. I need the names to list surname first of the quoted authors in the index. This command seems to be different between various editions of ID. For ID CC 2014.1 is it ctrl+alt+shift+]
    4. To make the surname show first, what do I highlight? The topic? and then do ctrl+alt+shift+] and select find all as well? Or do I have to just go through the text and manually do this and ditch the idea of uploading topics first?
I am confused as you can see and any help with this is appreciated.

Sorry 007, I really thought you were posting a trick question as on the OCP tests.
Anyway, as Justin mentioned, if you have an index on ename, it may be used when doing a comparison predicate statement with the ename value.
What it depends on are several other things: stats, how many rows in the table, use of an index hint, etc.
Rather than questioning the group on this, why not just turn on autotrace and run the query for the different scenarios.
The output will show you if it used the index, number of rows returned, blocks read, etc.
    SQL> create table emp (ename  varchar2(40));
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into emp select username from sys.dba_users;
    25 rows created.
    SQL> commit;
    Commit complete.
    SQL> set autotrace on
    SQL> select * from emp where ename != 'SYSTEM';
    Execution Plan
    Plan hash value: 2951343571
    | Id  | Operation        | Name      | Rows  | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time     |
    |   0 | SELECT STATEMENT |           |    24 |   528 |     1   (0)| 00:00:01 |
    |*  1 |  INDEX FULL SCAN | ENAME_IDX |    24 |   528 |     1   (0)| 00:00:01 |
Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
1 - filter("ENAME"<>'SYSTEM')As you can see, the above used an index, even though there were only 25 rows in the table.
You can test each of your scenarios, one by one, including use of a hint.

  • How do I print to a postscript file with InDesign CS6 without both extensions, .indd.ps?

How do I print to a postscript file without an .indd extension in InDesign CS6? I choose Print, choose a print preset from my print shop and Save. The first time I tried it was blank (the Hide Extension was checked), so I tried to save and got a dialog box that said it cannot be saved as an .indd file (duh), to choose both or .ps. I chose .ps and it was fine, but every time I postscripted it gave me this dialog box until I unchecked Hide Extension. After I did that, every time I postscript it automatically saves both extensions. Not a big deal but it is annoying. I just want it to end with .ps like it used to. Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks!!

I have no idea but I am incredibly curious...why are you doing this?
Printing to postscript is a completely archaic workflow. Export to PDF
    instead.

  • InDesign 2014 - how do I keep my saved workspace as the default?

Every time I open InDesign 2014 it defaults to "Essential" workspace. In the old version it would stay at my saved workspace. How do I fixe this?

OH OH I got it to work!! I STARTED from the Advanced workspace and then customized it then saved it, quit, opened it and the new workspace was there. So something funky is going on with the Essential workspace but now all is well. Next I try turning Suitcase back on. And...YES! it still works! YAY!
    Thank you for your help.

  • InDesign 2014 Installion with Settings and Prefs Moving Over From old CC

A while back I installed InDesign 2014 as it became available.  However, as the installation process and updating my preferences were not at all seamless, I deleted all the InDesign files, or so I thought,  and went back to InDesign CC. I again attempted to install InDesign 2014 using the Creative Cloud App and this time it only installed a Plug-ins and Utilities folder inside an InDesign 2014 folder, no App and no other support files.
Please advice as how I can install InDesign 2014 using the Creative Cloud App, so it knows that it was installed, and move all my settings and Preference over to the new InDesign 2014?
Any assistance and help will be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you never UNINSTALLED InDesign CC 2014. You can do this by going to your Applications folder, opening the InDesign CC 2014 folder and running the Uninstaller. Then reinstall from the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  • How do I add a poster to a page curl/turn PDF in InDesign 2014?

I have created a two-page Christmas card for my company. I used the Adobe TV video to see how to create a SWF file with page curl to import into an InDesign file and keep page turn in a PDF.
The only problem is that I can't find how to use the first page of the card as a poster for the PDF; when receivers see the file at the moment, they get is the image below, a screen-filling image with a SWF icon in the corner with a button that says 'activate here' which looks ugly.
In the Adobe TV video which uses an older version of InDesign, it's easy to see how to set a page as the poster but in InDesign 2014, I can't see how it's done.
Any suggestions? Thanks for reading this.

I strongly suggest you rethink any use of SWF. Most emails are opened on mobile devices today and that mean no flash.
Add to that many people don't even have it installed on desktops anymore.

  • Hello - I upgraded from photoshop cc to cc 2014 and lost my plug ins.  How can I move them into cc 2014? Thanks

Hello - I upgraded from photoshop cc to cc 2014 and lost my plug ins.  How can I move them into cc 2014? Thanks

The install of 2014 doesn't move or copy anything from a previous version, with the exception of settings. You can go into your Photoshop CC installation folder, navigate to your plugins folder and then just copy all the plugins you've installed from that folder and into the Photoshop CC 2014 plugins folder. The plugins should then be available in 2014 the next time you launch Photoshop.
The only thing that may prevent this from working is if you're using the 32bit version of Photoshop CC. Photoshop CC 2014 is 64bit only so 32bit plugins don't work. If this is the case for you, check out the manufacturer of the plugins and see if they have 64bit versions available.

  • Saving a postscript from Indesign 3

    Hi
I'm trying to save a postscript through the print menu using acrobat 9 as the printer. I get a box come up which says "the save pdf and save as pdf postscript options are not supported. I'm using the same method i have in the past on another machine in CS2. I'm using leopard and not connected to any printers. I tried adding one ( so i could just make .ps files through it but was unable to (as machine just looks for printers).
    Any suggestions very welcome.
    Thanks

    >Has nothing to do with Intel Macs.
I think it actually does. If one attempts to save a PostScript file using the OS (
i.e., by pressing the "Printer ..." button in the lower left of the InDesign Print dialog box, and then selecting "Save as PostScript..." from the "PDF" menu in the lower left of the Mac OS X Print dialog box), the process will fail on an Intel Mac as described by RachelE. It will succeed on a PPC Mac.
So the probable solution is to save the PostScript file using InDesign itself rather than the OS. To do this, select "PostScript® File" in the "Printer" popup menu at the top of the InDesign Print dialog box. This will enable the "PPD" popup menu where you can select the PPD you want to use.
However there is one weakness in this mechanism. You cannot access the complete range of PPD options in the InDesign print dialog box, only the ones that InDesign displays. So, if you do not need to access those "extra" PPD options, this will work for you, and will probably produce more reliable PostScript in any case. If you do need to modify those other PPD options, though, you are out of luck when using an Intel Mac, AFAIK.

  • How do I keep my text formating when pasting from other InDesign files?

I'm trying to post charts from one InDesign file to another.  The chart I'm trying to paste has hand-made fractions in them. The font is superscript and baseline shifted. When I paste it into a new document, the text loses all that formatting. It seems like a preferance thing, but I can't find it.

Even if Placing an .indd file retains the formatting, it's a non-starter. The reason I needed to paste the formatted text in the first place was to create a variation of the ad for a different purpose, so I need to be able to edit the text - something you can't do with a placed file.
For instance, I created an ad for an exhibit that includes the date of the reception and the address of the museum, etc. Then I want to create a poster for the wall of the exhibit, so I create a new document with different specs. Placing the ad copy would serve no use since I have to edit the copy (removing the address and reception date) and then readjust the emphasis of each line slightly.
Then I created another new file (RGB, tall and skinny) for the email invite. So I needed to copy the ad copy  and again put emphasis in different places.
I hope you can see that there is a real need to be able to copy and paste manually formatted text from one document to another while retaining the special formatting. In these kinds of jobs there is no need to create a new style for each line of text since each line is tweaked and tweaked to death.
This copy & paste behavior is not intuitive and is obviously causing problems for users for no  reason whatsoever except that "Adobe knows best". Why can't Adobe trust that I knew what I was going when I applied the formatting in the first place?
Considering how easy it it to remove formatting and revert to the original style, I would say the nod should be given to retaining formatting upon pasting. Both Word and Quark do this, so it's not anything unusual. Or give us the choice with a Paste Special dialog. But saying this behavior is "as designed" or suggesting you need to place a file or PDF, is not the solution.

  • Elearning suite to Learning Management System (LMS) - how-to from an InDesign file?

We need to be able to export InDesign files to a portable SCORM format that could be loaded into various Learning Management Systems (LMS) – however, it is not obvious how we would do this? We need to publish our documents both in a book\PDF format and to various LMS systems such as Blackboard, Moodle, Angel, Desire2Learn, etc.
What am I trying to accomplish? Many of our College and University clients use Learning Management Systems (LMS).  SCORM is a standardized interchange format used to provide internet ready information (e-book data, test questions, etc.) to any LMS systems. We need to export formatted InDesign documents – which for us are our Lab Manual (book) publications which include: text, graphics, pictures, etc.
Adobe advertises SCORM compatibility as part of its e-learning suite: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/elearningsuite/els/extensions/WSD40882CF-6 C5C-46c0-8D51-273830EB036B.html --- however, I cannot find anyone who can tell me how to get there from InDesign.
In addition, I find it very frustrating that after many calls to Adobe sales and technical staff that I can't find anyone who can help me with the details of how to get from InDesign to Adobe's "SCORM Packager"  See: http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/01/scorm_packager.html which I believe is a part of the e-learning suite.
Is it possible to find a high level technical resource within Adobe that I could talk to who could help me with this issue --- we need to test the ability to produce SCORM compatible files from our InDesign files before we can make a purchase decision.

Adobe's Multi SCORM Packaging tool is designed to take existing single SCORM packages (in zip file format) and merge them into a multi SCORM package with a rewritten imsmanifest.xml file at the root level to tell the LMS what the package contains.  This allows the LMS to build the array of links that its SCORM player requires to allow the course user to navigate from one module to another.
So if InDesign is not currently capable of creating even a single SCO SCORM package, the Adobe Multi-SCORM Packaging tool is not going to be much use to you.
In reality, the Adobe tool is quite limited in functionality.  It's more designed as an add-on for Captivate to allow multi-SCORM courses to be created. Your best bet would probably be to investigate other SCORM packaging tools such as RELOAD that allow you to take content created elsewhere and add them to a SCORM package as resources.
You may need to export your InDesign content as PDF files and have these set up as individual resources or assets in the SCORM package.
However, for any of this to work with an LMS is going to require the final package to have a SCORM API (done with JavaScript) so that user interaction with the individual components of the course is relayed back to the LMS via JavaScript variables.  Packaging tools such as RELOAD may be able to do this with some types of content (e.g. HTML) but I don't know if InDesign output is going to be compatible with this approach.
Have you designed your InDesign course content with interactivity in mind, or is it just straight content delivered in a documentation format?
