How do i replace a multicam clip?

I have a multi clip timeline which is a recital and that is synch'd to the external audio recording which was imported from Pro Tools.
I would like to replace a couple of clips with a third camera angle.
When building the timeline, I just used undo to delete the unwnted edit and just went from there.
What I want to do is overwrite the time line with an different camera angle without screwing up my synch.
Current version of FCPX 10.0.9
How is this done?

With an angle in the multicam clip? You can use Option and the amngle number. You can right-click and select the angle. Or do you mean repalce with a shot that's not in the multicam clip.

  • How do I replace video/audio clips in a timeline?

In After Effects I can select Replace Footage in the File menu. How do I do this in Encore?  Looks like I could add a new clip to the existing timeline, then delete the old clip. Is there another/better way to achieve this?  Running CS5 on a MacPro.

Do you not have replace footage when you right click a clip?

how do i update a multicam clip without having to start cutting from the beginning of the clip  in ppcs4 ?

    Kris,
My answer was meant to be geniunely helpful, with a bit of innocent joking.
I had a hunch (which proved right), based upon your description, that the buttons feature might not be as great as might be expected (which I indicated), and I decided to add the known viable solution just in case it might be helpful, trying to avoid any offence by the opening presumption.
Sorry for being rude, Jacob. Your original reply—the part where you indicated that you still use Illustrator 10, before you deleted that part—is what set me off again.
That part was merely changed to be more figurative, referring to a recurring subject.
The joker must face the effects of the joke. If you wish, I will try to remember, and spare you.

  • How to replace a clip that is part of a multicam clip in FCPX 10.0.9

I am having an issue with a project drifting out of sync in FCPX 10.0.9.  In the time line everything is in sync, however when I export a master .mov file the video drifts out of sync.  I believe this is because my main audio is an mp3 file.
MY plan is to convert my mp3 audio to an AIFF file and replace it with the mp3 in my project.  The only problem is that this audio file was imported as part of an hour long musical performance and I took the part I needed  and made it a sub clip.  I then took the sub clip and made that part of a multicam clip.
Is there anyway to replace this MP3 sub clip with my new AIFF file in the multicam clip?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

never good practice to 'bundle' clips, sticking compounds into compounds... and in very rare cases needed/could be done 'better' using the tools 'n features FCPX offer....
Why not simply adding the new audio to your project timeline and synch it?

  • How to mute ALL audio in one single go in an edited multicam clip?

    Hi there
I'm having to replace some audio in an already edited multicam clip. (there are mulitple audio parts I'm replacing by the way)
How can I mute ALL of the audio in one go, as I have about 400 cuts and am currently having to mute one by one per cut.
    thanks

Easy. Select them all. In the inspector, click the Audio tab. Under "Channel configuration", uncheck the box which would say something like "400 selected clips".

  • How do I replace the proxy files in my edited multicam sequence?

I have edited the sequence with a proxy MULTICAM clip. Now I want to replace the proxies with the hi-rez media. I can replace footage in the individual A-B cam clips but how do I replace the footage in the multicam clip so it automatically updates in the edited sequence?
    Thank you,
    Patrice

you can cmd/ctrl double click the multicam sequence to open it, then do your offline/relink. can also open the multicam sequence from the bin, right click and choose open in timeline.  if the file names and extensions are the same you could also try the old folder swap method.

  • How can I use all tracks from multi-channel source audio with Multicam clips?

I cannot figure this out. Working in Premiere I'm prepping for a 2 camera show, with typically 4 to 6 track dual-system audio recorded by the sound guy. I can sync, and make multicam clips any number of ways–whether sync by timecode, sync by audio, or eyeballing–but whenever I edit using the MC clip, Premiere mixes down all the audio channels into a stereo single track, and I cannot pick and choose which audio track from the original to use. With 2-5 people mic'd on lavs, I need to be able to choose which audio is either cut in or heard at any given shot.
Is there any way to have control in multicam clips over which track of audio gets edited into the timeline, or even: that all tracks of audio get cut in? It's very important for the editors to be able to see waveform (which also disappears for some reason in the mixdown) and pick and choose which audio is heard?
I'm sure this might be a simple fix, but I cannot get my head around it for workflow purposes for my assistant editors. We need to use multicam, but this audio thing is driving all of us crazy. None of us can figure out how to have a multicam clip and use it with control over what audio is cut in.

True, but what I need to be able to do is have my multicam sequence in the source monitor, and cut into my working sequence with either just the audio I need from the sound guy's multi-channel WAV, OR cut in all the sound and from then I can just enable or disable what I need or don't need. But also be able to match back to the Multicam source from my working sequence.
I don't want to have to open the synced sequence, and razor blade the things I need and have to copy and paste into my working sequence in order to have the full spectrum of my multi-channel mono lav WAV files...with their waveforms visible.
Essentially, I want my Multicam clips to load in the source monitor, and the ability to cut them into the working sequence without it mixing down the audio into a single track with no visible waveform–which is what it is doing currently. Can I choose to edit in either ALL of the tracks of the WAV file along with the camera shot I want, or control which audio gets cut in?

  • How do you create a PIP in a multicam clip?

I know how to create a picture-in-pictre where I would overlay the PIP clip over the primary clip in my timeline, and reduce the size of the PIP window.
But I would like to use PIP in a multicam clip. I usually fully switch from one angle to the other. But how do I keep my master clip rolling and make my other angle appear in the PIP?
    Thanks

Create your multicam clip including the PIP angle.
Edit the multicam clip into the timeline.
Select the PIP angle as the active angle. Go forward in the project a bit and cut to a different angle.
Select the PIP angle in the timeline and use Opt-Cmd-Up arrow to lift it from the timeline.
Stretch it out for the length of your video so it covers up everything else.
Select the PIP layer and press Shift-T for the transform function and shape the PIP and position it as you like.
Should look something like this. Hope you see the images

  • How should I incorporate 60p clips into 24p multicam clips?

I shot a music video recently on a 7D. I have three variety of clips:
    24p
24p shot to slow playback, which needs to be sped up to 132% for sync
60p that needs to be conformed
How should I incorporate these clips into 24p multicam clips. Do I do all the conforming/speed changes in the multicam timeline after making the clip or is there a way to do it prior in the event browser and be able to take advantage of FCPX's syncing?

I'm having difficulty following your description. You shot with one camera and you want  to make a multiclip…so should  I asume you had three separate takes of a performance? And the audio? Is it recorded music that you want the talent lip-syncing to? Or something else?
    Justin Powell! wrote:

Could you also expand upon these statements? Why does the 24p need speeding up and why does the 60p need to be conformed?
With a typical multi-cam shoot, FCP does a great job of syncing different formats, including multiple frame rates. Those usually are synced by matching (automatically) the waveforms of the reference audio in the various cameras and any other sound sources. But yours does not sound like a typical shoot.

  • HT5105 How can you do picture in picture when you are working with a Multicam clip?

How can you do picture in picture when you are working with a Multicam clip?

Im doing a drumming music video and with the multi cam clip all the angles are nicely sync'd top the audio.
Problem is if i want to have 3 angles on top of the main shot, im gonna have to re-sync them all to get them to line up manually. If i could use the multi cam clip they will already be aligned
Thanks for trying to help appreciate, hoping someone has some multiclip knowledge and will be able to tell me if yay or nay.

  • CC Multicam help- Clips are being rearranged/ replaced with repeated clips

I have a 35 minute multicam sequence set up, synched by audio. It contains about 12 overlapping video clips from two cameras. I was working on the project but then when I opened it the next day the multicam clips had been rearranged. In a couple of places, clips have been replaced by the first 1/2 clips so that the introduction is randomly repeated.
The clips which have remained in the correct place in the sequence have been shuffled so that where previously an edit switched to an active slot, now a blank space is recorded while the clip plays in another slot.
Is there any way to re-shuffle them back into the right places? Otherwise, I don't know whether to bother re-doing the edits in case it does this again, or if I should just give up and edit them the long-winded way on different video tracks.
    Thank you.

Thanks, this sounds like the same problem. I suppose I'll have to reinstall CS6 until the patch is released

  • How to use two audio souces in one multicam clip

I have a three cameras, and an additional audio source.  Making the multicam clip with of the four elements was easy, however I would like to use both the audio from two different sources at the same time.  Is this possible?  I know about switching the audio from one source to the other, but in some cases, I have talent on stage left and on stage right, and I need the audio pick up from both regardless of the video angle.

You can do it this way.
In the multicam select audio to left clip.
Then find the right clip, detach its audio, take its audio & align it to the multicam clips.
This way you have audio from let & right
