How do i reset a used ipad given to me as a christmas gift.  i  am unable to finish activation becau se the previous owner's gmail account still shows

How do I reset a used ipad given to me as a gift?  I am unable to finish activation because I have no previous owner's information?

Settings, general, erase all content and settings.
if the person has iOS7 on that device and it's activation locked then you'll need the apple ID of the previous owner to fully wipe it. So if you can't wipe it you'll need that previous owner to give you their apple ID or to unlock it for you.
If you can't contact them or if they can't unlock it, try to get your money back because without that info you can't fully erase that ipad, and it's unfortunately possible that the device they sold you wasn't theirs to sell.

    My boyfriend gave me his pc, an e-machine with WindowsXP, and using IE7 I believe. Then, I purchased an Android cellphone, and wanted to run Mozilla Firefox browser to link both the pc and my cell together. For some reason, this doesn't work.

    turn your ipad off by holding the sleep wake button for 5 seconds and slide to turn off then turn it back on and the apps should be finished and if the apps didnt finish just redownload them

  • How do I add my apple id to a used iphone that I purchased and activated? it is still under the previous owner's id.

    How do I add my apple id and erase the previous owner's id, when my phone has been activated and ready to use?

    Unless you have the previous owners password you cannot remove the Apple ID.  The previous owner did not correctly prepare that iPhone For sale and needs to remove all information.  If the Activation Lock is not set by turning on Find My Phone in Settings, iCloud, you can go to Settings, General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings to get rid of it.  If Find My Phone is on, only the previous owner can clear it.

  • How can I reset a device that the previous owner refuses to unlock?

    I WORK FOR A COMPANY THAT SEIZES PROPERTY COLLECTED FROM BEING ON LEIN. WE HOLD THE PROPERTY AND IF THE COLLATERAL ISN'T PAID FOR OR NEGOTIATED TO STANDARDS, IT'S HELD FOR 30 DAYS (WE USUALLY HOLD UP TO 90 DAYS IN MOST CASES) AND THEN THAT PROPERTY BECOMES THE OWNER OF THE LEIN COMPANY TO DO OR SELL TO RECOVER COSTS RELATED TO COLLATERAL DEBT.
    THAT ALL BEING SAID... THAT IS WHY MY QUESTION IS, HOW WOULD THE NEW OWNER OF ANY APPLE DEVICE IPAD, IPOD, IPHONE ETC....BE ABLE TO GAIN ACCESS TO A DEVICE IF THE PREVIOUS OWNER IS NOT AVAILABLE TO RESET OR ASK FOR ICLOUD INFO??
    IS THERE A WAY I CAN PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION AS TO PROVE DEFAULT AND SEIZE OF THE DEVICE SO IT CAN BE FACTORY RESET?

  • I got an ipad mini and the previous owner will not remove ipad from his icloud.

    My boyfriend bought an Ipad mini from his friend, who got it from someone else.  After I reset the Mini and inputed my Itunes information, the previous owner was able to view my information.  He called and texted me for a few days.  I was wondering if there were anyway for me to remove my Mini from the previous owners icloud or account, so that he wont be able to view my account information.

    If the iPad was totally erased before you got it, or if you erased it and set it up again, there is no way he can access any of your information on it. I don't see how he could access anything in your account on the iPad anyway, remotely that is.
    Did you erase the device first in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings and then activate it again as a new device?

    Hello jimmy ii
    The only option is to contact that person to have them remove Activation Lock from the iPhone. They can do it online and do not have to come to you. Check out the article below for more information.

  • If I order a refurbished Ipad 4 is there a chance that it could come engraved by the previous owner?

    I really want to  order the refurbed Ipad 4 but I'm concerned that If I do I may get one that has the previous owners name engraved on it, now I heard that they put a whole new case on the ipads before they ship them bu I'm not sure if thats true or not?? So it it even a possibility that I could get one that someone previously engraved or something???

    Hi,
    You don't need to worry. They come with a new front and back cover, a brand new battery, and a full one year warranty, which includes 90 days of phone support. (And shipping was quick for us!)
    We bought two last Summer and then one as a gift. They are great!
    Hope this helps!

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • I am very confused. When I wanna to update my apps in app store, it shows the account which is my iPhone one is not my iPad one. how can I reset to my iPad account?
    I am very confused. When I wanna to update my apps in app store, it shows the account which is my iPhone one is not my iPad one. how can I reset to my iPad account?
    And I am very confused by your query. Your iTunes account is the same on all devices - unless of course you have multiple accounts to begin with.
    If you do have another Apple ID that you use for the iPad purchases, you can sign out of the account that is on the iPad in Settings>Store.
    Perhaps a few more details from you could clear up the confusion???
  • HT1212 How do I reset passcode when ipad is disabled
    how do I reset passcode when Ipad is disabled
    Restore, if iTunes will let you.  Everything except the password will be restored.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  Be forewarned that it takes a long time.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.
  • How can I log into my new (used) Ipad if the previous owner has the only log in information?  I purchased it through Glyde and have no information on the seller.
    How can I activate my new (used) Ipad if the previous owner has the only log in information?  I purchased it through Glyde and have no information on the seller.
    What you've run into is the activation lock. Previous owners are supposed to wipe their devices, and to do that they have to enter their apple ID's. If yours wasn't wiped then it was a careless owner, or the dark side is that whomever sold it, it wasn't theirs to sell.
    Regardless, what Deggie says is your only recourse. Get your money back or own an unusable brick.
    how do i reset password on ipad without total reset?
    You don't.
    You will need to restore your iPad from the same computer that you most recently synced to.
    Read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
    If you can't do the restore then you will need to try recovery mode.
    I was given an ipad 2.  How do I reconfigure it with my own settings, etc. and erase the previous owners informations?
    But note, if the previous owner turned on Find My in iCloud and has not turned that off you will not be able to do anything with that iPad without the previous owner's Apple ID...there is an Activation Lock as part of iOS 7.0.4 that cannot be bypassed so you have to have that Apple ID and password if it has been turned on.
  • How do you change an used ipad to a new user with a new itunes account?
    How do you cange a used ipad to a new user with a new itunes account?
    plug your ipad to your computer, open your itunes, click on the ipad icon, at the first page there is an option to "restore" ipad to its factory settings, click it. Don't remove USB connection, wait until it finishes wiping the data and it should place a new window that asks you to register the ipad.
    There you go, your iPad is sync with your itunes account under your name, its best to also use "Find my iPad" just in case it gets lost, you can track it from your computer. Very handy tool and its free!
    But if you want the data that is in the iPad, back up it first and sync the content to your library before restoring it to its factory settings
    Have a great day and enjoy your iPad
