How do I rotate an object 45 degrees at a time

I'm designing a simple online floor plan staging area and
need to be able to move and rotate (45 degrees at a time) simple
boxes. Literally picture squares on a white background that you can
move around and with the click of a button (perhaps by clicking a
small icon within each square) each square can be rotated at 45
degree increments clockwise.
At the same time, I need the option to duplicate a box on the
stage as many times as needed. (Is that even possible?) Basically,
the stage will start off with just 4 boxes, all different sizes.
From each of those boxes, perhaps simply clicking on an icon of one
of the boxes, a copy can be generated for placement within the
stage. You get the idea.
I already have the code down for movement within the stage
area....
on (press) {
startDrag(this, true);
on (release) {
stopDrag();
.... but need help with the rest. The way I have my objects
(boxes) set up is with each box as a button. The buttons are then
placed within a movie clip. The code above is attached to the movie
clip.
Hope I'm explaining everything correctly. Any help is greatly
appreciated!

Bob, thanks for your advice - I appreciate your time and
effort. However, being that I'm a complete novice with ActionScript
I cannot seem to construct the code properly to get the desired
results as you are suggesting. I'm actually quite shocked that I've
even been able to piece together as much as I have - mostly from
posts on other forums (see the link in my previous post). You on
the other hand sound like a complete pro and something like this
would likely be second nature for you. I often find myself
explaining things to others as if they've been doing what I do just
as long as I. Its not until their eyes gloss over that I realize I
need to be much more specific and not so general with my guidance.
This is more what I need with this, more specific guidance so I can
fully understand just how what you are so generously suggesting
should be constructed.
Anyhow, I would very much appreciate any further assistance
you are willing to provide. It would be most appreciated if you
were willing to edit my code so I can see exactly where these
function go and how they are constructed - this is how I learn.
That said, your time is very important so if you have none
available I understand.
Thanks again Bob!

  • How do I rotate a video 90 degrees with premiere elements 9?

    I shot a birthday video of the neighbors 5 year old with my Canon T2i camera.  Had to turn the camera on its side to get everything in the shot.  I can view the video right side up in the canon software but can not make the change permanent so the neighbor can watch it on his computer.  Can I rotate the video 90 degrees in premiere and make it permanent?  If not, where do I go?
    Thanks

    As Steve says, Rotation with Video, is not so straightforward.
    If you oriented the camera on its side, to get more of the image, then I would recommend that after you Rotate the Video, that you Scale it to fit perfectly within the Frame Size. This will result in Pillar Boxing, with black bars on the sides, as with Video, you have a horizontal Aspect Ratio.
    If this was just due to the mechanical need to mount the camera sideways, or due to an error, then one could Rotate, then just Scale Up and effective crop the top, or bottom, or both with the Project's Frame Size.
    This is often done when taping actors for bluescreen work, but in that case, one is going to eliminate the bluescreen background anyway, and Key the material into a horizontal Video background, so the end result is different, than what you have.
    Now, one artistic treatment would be to Rotate, and then use your footage as a PiP, inside of a larger image. Though it was written for doing this with stills in a Video, look at this ARTICLE for some ideas on how this might be used with your footage. The actual application of those techniques will ONLY be limited by your imagination. Hope that it gives you some good ideas.
    Good luck,

  • How do I rotate text/Picture 90 degrees?

    How do I rotate an e-mail text/Picture 90 degrees?

    You can rotate your drawing 90 degrees by reorienting your iOS device in the direction you want to rotate the drawing. Then, go back to the organizer. The drawing is always saved in the orientation you last left it, so you should see the drawing now rotated in the organizer view. While in the organizer view, you can rotate your device back to its original orientation and reopen your drawing.
    Admittedly, rotation could be handled more intuitively in the app, so if this is important to you, we would love to hear that feedback.
    Hope that helps,

  • How do you rotate a video 90 degrees?

    Hi,
    I was hoping to find out how I rotate a video 90 degrees clockwise which has been imported by a digital camera (which was captured in a vertical position). I only have QuickTime Player and not QuickTime Pro. Is it possible to do this without having to purchase Quicktime Pro? (I don't want to spend $44 to rotate one video).
    Thanks.

    Let me Google that for you...

  • How do you rotate an object to any angle

    I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. I am adding an object eg. square to the PDF file. I now want to rotate it to any angle, which I cannot do. I tried the help menu (TouchUp Object Tool) step by step and i am unsuccessfull. Please help.

    Thank you George for helping
    From Tools Menu. I selected customize toolbar, then selected rectangle tool from Comment and Markup Toolbar, then OK. Then from toolbar I selected the Rectangle and inserted it. I now need to rotate it.
    I have not tried the flattenning method, but after reading the notes by flattenning it becomes part of the page and can no longer be edited which is not what I require. Note I only need to rotate the little square on the page to any angle and not in 90 degree increments.
    The notes in the help topic (In Acrobat) on touchup object tool mentions it can be rotated incrementally, but when i follow the steps it does not work out. There is no handle to rotate the object.

  • How do you rotate an object in the Photoshop CC Animation Timeline now that "3D Object Position" no longer exists?

    I am attempting to animate the rotation of an object using Photoshop CC Animation.  However, unlike in previous versions where there was a "3D Object Position" layer on the Timeline that one would keyframe to change an objects position within the scene; the sublayer "3D Object Position" does not exist in CC.  I have attempted to change an objects rotation by keyframing the "Position" sublayer resulting in no change what so ever.  I have attempted to change an objects rotation by keyframing the "3D Meshes" sublayer resulting in the object rotating clear off the scene and not following the coordinates that I type in.  This is very frustrating since something like this use to be so easy!!  How do I animate the rotation of an object using Photoshop CC?!

    Which version of CC and have you install the updates?

  • How Can I rotate PS touch cavas with 90 degrees?

    hi~
    I use Photoshop Touch.
    I have problem.
    How can I rotate cavas with 90 degrees?
    Please reply.

    I guess you would like to have your width as height after the rotation.
    To accomplish that try the following steps:
    1. open &-menu and choose Crop
    2. within the Crop mode you need to change the height to the same value as you have for your width.
    3. now you can rotate your document via the Cross Menu
    4. Crop again to match the width

  • OO Graphic Engine, how to add Rotation?

    I'm trying to program a simple GameEngine, so far I've created a gameloop (doing stuff, render stuff and wait)
    Now I want to add to the rendering process a way to rotate every single object with a different angle
    my object would looke like this:
    public class GameObject {
         double angle;
        public int x,y;
        public Image picture;
        public MOB(Image pic, int x, int y, double angle) {
                  this.picture=pic;
                  this.x = x;
                  this.y = y;
                  this.angle = angle;
    }and my graphic engine should now paint those objects (pictures) at x/y and rotated, and there lies my problem.
    how can i rotate the objects without rotating the whole panel? do i have to use a buffered image?
    and last but not least, is this method efficient?
    thx for helping
    Ghley

    Take a look at the AffineTransform class and the Graphics2D methods rotate, scale, translate etc. Worry about efficiency if you come up against a performance issue. Micro-optimization seldom helps, and can sometimes be deleterious.
    a way to rotate every single object with a different angleThe method create (inherited from Graphics) can be useful here.
    Remember that angles in Java are in radians, not degrees. The Math class has a static method that could be useful there.

  • How can I cache an object for unlimited time or for ever.

    Hi,
    How can I cache an object for ever or unlimited time. What values should be used to in cache-config.xml i.e.
    <expiry-delay system-property="tangosol.coherence.zerostage.expiry.delay">XXXms</expiry-delay>
    <flush-delay system-property="tangosol.coherence.zerostage.flush.delay">XXXms</flush-delay>
    thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi Suhas,
    If you look in the documentation http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14526_01/coh.350/e14509/toc.htm and more specifically here http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14526_01/coh.350/e14509/appcacheelements.htm#BABDHGHJ you will see the explination for the two configuration items you mention.
    The default expiry-delay is zero which means no expiry - that is the data will stay in the cache forever (or until you do a remove). If expiry is zero then flush-delay has a default of zero is used and automatic flushes are disabled.

  • How separate and rotate pieces of an object in preparation for creation of a GIF in After Affects?

    Here is the image that I'm working with...
    I want to make this object rotate a tight 90 degrees in After Effects and then separate. If you're wondering why I put this up under Photoshop it is because I need to have this model in addition to 2 others, one of the top half and one of the bottom half and button, both turned 90 degrees [preferably clockwise] in order to create the GIF. I need these 3 pieces before I can even consider creating the GIF in After Effects... so if somebody either wants to try and do it for me or to try and help me to do it on my own, either one would be extremely helpful

    Don't worry guys, I actually found the answer all on my own what I needed was to separate the image into 3 files, something I was probably going to do anyways to make exporting and importing the images easier and rotating the two top and bottom half images here's what I have right now (per background removal)Thanks for trying to help... but I think I'm ready to move on to After effects with this one The reason I'm moving it to after effects is simply because I understand simple movement/animation there already... if you're curious as to what I plan on doing with these images, the complete ball will sit in a hole in my border, turn a sharp 90 degrees right and then be replaced by the two half images, the bottom one will fade slowly out while the top is lifted off screen to the right... it's a fancy reveal for my upcoming project thanks again

  • How do you find out the angle degree of type that has been rotated?

    I have manually rotated some type. It's not rotated a standard number of degrees and I'd like to find out what that number is. Do you know if there is a place in Illustrator that gives this informatiion because I sure as heck can't find it.

    You are supposed to be able to measure angles using the Measure Tool. I find this completely unreliable, because it fails to abide by Snaps. (Absolutely hideous.)
    This page describes an AI Javascript you can download and try, for un-rotating textframe objects.

    short answer: No.
    Use any paint-processor (Pixelmator, Photoshop/elements, Gimp, ...) and rotate your image BEFORE inserting into iMovie.
    'free' rotating of images and videos is a privilege, the Big Toys only offer (FinalCut/express et al)

    Numbers does not have rotated text within cells.  You can place a text box over the cell that has rotated text but you cannot rotate text within a cell.
