How do i run ms office on macpro

Trying to figure out how I can transfer my MS based programs onto my new Mac Pro.  New to Apple

Copy them from your old computer to your new one.
Office 2004 Applications Won't Work in Lion/Mountain Lion
If you have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite and will not work in Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
NeoOffice
Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
Keynote - presentation
Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)

  • How have G5 run Quicken Essentials on MacPro?

    Hi,
I just learned that I cannot install Quicken Essentials on my wife's iMac G5 10.5.8 because requires the Intel architecture.
So, I installed Quicken on my MacPro 10.6.2. I have spent yesterday and today trying to figure out how my wife can login from her iMac G5 to my Mac Pro so that she can run Quicken on my MacPro. I created an account for her on my MacPro. But after all the Google searching and reading, I am more confused and frustrated.
I thought this would be easy because I incorrectly thought that Remote Desktop was built into Macs. I found the Apple Remote Desktop 3, but I have only 2 Macs, so ARD is too expensive.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Don

You can have her take control of your system via Screen Sharing built into Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6. Search your Mac Help for "screen sharing" and you'll find information and instructions.
Note, though, that you cannot work on your computer simultaneously with her controlling your system and running her applications. Mac OS X (except for X11 and command-line applications) is strictly a one-user-at-a-time OS.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I install Adobe Presenter 9 on Windows 8.1 running MS Office 2013 (32 bt)?

How can I install a trial version of Adobe Pesenter 9 running Windows 8.1 and also running MS Office 2013? I am sure it is 32 bit, so that is not the issue. I can see it in the add-ins in Power Point, but when I check it to run, it will not do anything. I have restarted my computer, unistalled and reinstalled Adobe Presenter a few times, and still, it will not work. It was working at one time, but now it will not work for the life of me. I have completed a presentation I would like to showcase in my portfolio. Please help me with this problem. Thank You!!

  • How do u run office mac on the new imac

error message says cnnont open application microsoft word because power pc applications are no longer supported  how do i run office mac on the new imac

Office 2004 probably was the best MS Office ever, works fine on PPC machines, badly enough on intel machines, unusable in Lion.
Office 2008 was a step back, runs badly on PPC machines, not very good for newer, Intel macs either.
Office 2011 seems the only rational solution for newer macs running SL and Lion.
There are free and good solutions, OpenOffice, LibreOffice and NeoOffice, all based on OO language. Apple’s iWork also offers a good solution, may be a little problematic if you currently exchange files with Windows users, mainly if you must keep the original format, including inserted data.
    Summing up:
    - if you frequently / currently exchange data with Windows users, MS Office is the best solution from reasons of comfort
    - if not, any free office quoted above makes its job fairly well
    - iWork is also good, and smoothly integrated with Mac OS X, of course
If you mainly need word processing, Mellel and / or Nisus are (very) good alternatives, may be tested for 30 days, then decide.
The offer is, as you may see, rich, richer than in Windows, but this also means, as the French say, l’embarras du choix, difficulty of choosing something!

If they don't have a Mac version and you must have it, you'll have to install Windows in Boot Camp or similar app.

  • How do you run a Windows PC based program on a MacPro

Can someone advise on how I can run a program designed for a windows PC on my Apple Macbook Pro.

Use Boot Camp Assistant, the PDF Guide and FAQ and there is a Boot Camp forum.
Along with that, you might just use a virtual OS of Windows like VirtualBox from Oracle or buy VMware Fusion. But you need Windows usually (Crossover Mac covers a few programs).

  • How can I use Microsoft Office on two user accounts on one IMAc?

    Dear all,
I have installed Microsoft Office 2011 on my IMac which I have recently bought. I did this on the (at that time) only user account in place: the administrator account.
A little time after this my wife and I decided it would be much easier to us to make an additional user account on the same computer for my wife (also with administrator rights), so we could have our own settings, desktop preferences etc. So now we have two user accounts/profiles on one Imac, so far so good.
But when my wife signs in on her account, she is not able to use Microsoft Office . Office seems to be only available to the user account on which it has been installed initially: 'my' account.
Can anyone help us out here and tell us how we can make Office available to my wife's user account as well? I understand that the licence of Office is restricted to one computer, but what about two accounts on the same IMac? I mean, it is still one computer, one 'home', one family etc.
We would appreciate your help here!
    Kind regards,
    Jurjen

As long as you installed MS Office into its default location (the top level /Applications folder) it will be available to all user accounts on the Mac.
As far as licensing is concerned you only have to enter the license code once, which you should do right after installing MS Office, in the same admin account you installed it from, by opening any one of the MS Office applications.  There is no additional licensing required for additional user accounts on the same Mac.
Each user account is able to run the Office apps.  The only thing you will have to do is go through an initial setup screen in each user account (but this setup does NOT involve entering any additional license codes).
You may have problems if you installed MS Office in a particular user account (i.e. NOT in the top level /Applications folder).

  • Is it possible to Install the 64-bit Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 if we are running Microsoft Office 2010 32-bit?

So we are running Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010, Version 14.0.7015.1000
    (32-bit)
This is what is installed via our Network and Network licensing.
I am trying, in vain, to read and write a .xlsx file via a C# Edit Script in a SSIS Package. And I have tried using...
    string StringConnection = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=" + sourceFile + ";Extended Properties=\"Excel 12.0;HDR=Yes;IMEX=1\"";
And this tells me that this has not been installed. So when I go and try and get the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 64-bit, which would allow me to use Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 and allow me to read, write, and process this .xlsx file, it tells me
I cannot install it because I already have 32-bit installed and it wants me to un-install Microsoft Office 2010. Why? Because it is 32-bit? And I can't do that because this is what we have and what we're licensed for and from what I've read seems to be the
industry standard because most software vendors are ill equipped to process 64-bit right now.
So my question is this...How can I use a C# Edit Script to read and process a .xlsx file? Because if I try using...
    string StringConnection = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" + sourceFile + ";Extended Properties=\"Excel 8.0;HDR=Yes;IMEX=1\"";
It then tells me that the file is not in that format.
Please excuse me for asking this question in a couple of different ways out here but I cannot for the life of me seem to be able to get an answer as to how I can process a .xlsx file with a C# script and which driver to use that will make this work.
Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.
    ITBobbyP85

    Hi ITBobby85,
If the excel version in the Connection Manager is Microsoft Excel 2010 (.xlsx), we should use Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB provider.
We can't install 32bit and 64bit parts of office on the same machine. We will get an error as you said when we run the installer to install the 64bit version of the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable in the machine where a 32bit version
of Microsoft Office installed. To fix this issue, please download and install the 32bit version of the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable with the link below:

  • I just bought a Macbook Air and a usb super dive.  How do I install MS Office 2003 on it?  It won't launch the install when I load the disk in the superdrive.

I just bought a Macbook Air and a usb super dive.  How do I install MS Office 2003 on it?  It won't launch the install when I load the disk in the superdrive.

A 2003 MS office sounds like a Windows version.  A 2004 MS Office that was Mac compatible can not be run natively on a new MBA since the Lions do not run PPC applications.  You will have to get a newer edition of MS Office that is compatible with your new MBA.

  • How do I install Microsoft Office 2013 on my Mac via my Windows 8 Parallels Desktop 8 partition?

I recently bought a copy of Windows 8, Microsoft Office 2013 and Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac.
I wanted to install a Windows partition on my Mac so that I could run MS Office 2013 on a virtual machine.
I set up the VM, and everything was looking fine and worked smoothly.
Then, when I inserted the MS Office 2013 disk into the CD drive, nothing happened!
I tried to install MS Office 2013 but to no avail.
Does anyone know how to overcome this issue?
    Thanks.

In the Configure menu item, under Virtual Machine, configure the CD/DVD to be recognized by your SuperDrive:
The only drawback is that you have to quit Parallels for the drive to be recognized by the Mac again.
I just purchased the Office 365 subscription for both Office 2011 on my Mac and Office 2013 on my Windows 7 side - sure makes life simpler, and less expensive.

  • How can I transfer Microsoft office from my old macbook pro to macbook air

how can I transfer microsoft office from macbook pro to macbook air?

Assuming you have the 2011 version the easiest way is go to Microsoft's Web site and download Mac Office 2011 onto your MacBook Air and then run it. If you have the 2008 (or the 2011) version on disc you can turn on DVD sharing in the Sharing control panel of your MBP and install it by remotely sharing your MBP's DVD.
Since Microsoft uses activation when you start Office on the new computer if you use the same activation code as you used on the MBP you'll probably get a message to call Microsoft. Do so and just explain that you got a new computer.
