How do I save a 5x7 doc to print 2-up as a pdf?

I am designing invites for my sister, who wants to print them at home (I normally send a pdf to an online printer), and it would be economical for her to print 2-up, but I cannot figure out how to save my work and allow for that.
My work is a 5x7 artboard with 0.125 bleed in Illustrator. I know how to convert to a PDF with crop marks for online printers, but how do I get 2 on the page for my sis to print at home?
Apologies in advance if this is a silly question, but its driving me bonkers...

Yes.  Acrobat will set crops to whatever your artboard size is, which would be the 7x10 ( no split ).  You should have enough space to print on a standard 8.5x11 sheet, including an 1/8" bleed and 1/4" trim marks.  When you create your own trim marks, you have to use an 8.5x11 artboard, instead of the 7x10.  I usually add an invisible holding line ( no fill, no stroke ) to the artboard size ( 8.5x11) and lock it so the PDF is the entire 8.5x11.  Not really a big deal, I create all of my own trim marks this way, part of the workflow.

    (1) The OP is technically correct - there is no direct equivalent of  "save as".   There is "save a version" and there is "duplicate".
    (2) So far it seems that to get the same effect as "save as" you need to create a "duplicate", then save the duplicate.  The duplicate will automatically be given a name like "docname.copy.pages", which can be changed to that desired.
    (1) nobody wrote about the technical aspect of the OP's question !
    But, you wrote something wrong.
There is a "Duplicate" item, a "Save a Version" item and there is a "Save…" item.
    (2)  The reproduced help page clearly state that the first step is to trigger 'Duplicate' For the second step, it's not clear. It seems that the ones writing the Help were not informed of the definite choices made by the developers. They wrote "Save As" but never was such an item. It was "Save As…" in which the ellipsis is an important component. At last, the developers defined two items : "Save…" and "Save a Version" ( at this time I'm running 10.6.8 so I can't check if this item has or hasn't an ellipsis).

Plug your ipod in and pull up itunes. Then click on the device name in the left hand side. Click the restore option. When it goes all the way through and says "your device has been restored and is restarting, once it restarts you want to choose the option that says "setup as a new device"

  • How do I save a page doc in word (so I can attach it to an email and send it)

I'm a poet who has to submit my poems via submission managers at literary journals.  Most journals need these attached in a Word doc or Rtf file...but I can't figure out how to covert an existing page doc poem to a word doc so I can do this.
Also, is it possible in pages to "save" a pages file as rtf? how?
    Pat

    thank you Tom...
I did try this...  am still a little confused.   "share" doesn't work ...I get a message that IWORK is discontinued.
Also, after I go to export and click on "Word"  and click on export again....where does the resulting file go to get stored?  Is it on my computer then (on the desktop if I say that's where it goes?)...so that when attaching it to the submissions manager I would hit "browse" and find it on the computer/desktop and then hit attach?   I'm not even sure I'm explaining this right.

When you are ready to save your Pages doc, hold down the option key while selecting the File menu. Now, Save As ... appears. Select it.
Initially, you will see iCloud on the selector. Click and hold, then choose Desktop from the drop down menu.
Now, click on the little down-arrow. This opens a file selection window on the Desktop, where you can scroll to the existing Folder, create a new one, and then save your file.

Hi, I'm new to Mac and Pages and want to save a document to a folder on my desktop.  But I don't have Save As as an option in File.  I appear to be able to save only to iCloud or Documents essentially.  Any suggestions?

  • How can I save a Adobe document to print duplex for other users.

I want to create a doc using Adobe and be able to set it to print duplex by other users without the user needed to go into printer settings.
All the user has to do is click print on there computer and the doc. will print duplex. The users have Adobe Reader installed.

It is possible to set a default value for the Adobe Reader or Acrobat print dialog on a document basis. After the document is created, go to Document Properties (Ctrl-D), and select the Advanced tab. Go to the DuplexMode setting. Normally, this is set to Simplex, i.e. single sided printing. You can also set it to either Duplex Flip Long Edge or Duplex Flip Short Edge depending upon your needs. Duplex Flip Long Edge is normally used for printing of “portrait” orientation content with Duplex Flip Short Edge typically used for printing of “landscape” orientation content. Then save the PDF file (typically, “save as” should be used).
Important notes: Obviously, this only works if the PDF file is being opened by one of the applications that even bothers to look at these settings. Adobe Reader and Acrobat do. Don't count on MacOS Preview or other applications to do so! Furthermore (and somewhat obviously), this setting is only observed with print devices that directly support duplex printing. And finally, this does not force the user to print duplex. It simply pre-populates the print dialog; the user can change the setting.

  • How to control save as option in a jsp whose content type is PDF

    Hi
I have one jsp in which i am showing PDF, it means it content type is PDF. I want to control save as option in it,
i.e when a user tries to save it the default name which is coming it is name of the jsp, but i want default name is dynamic which depends upon user.
I used response.setHeader(content-deposition,inline;filename=abcd.pdf) , but it doesnt work. if i use
response.setHeader(content-deposition,attachment;filename=abcd.pdf) then it is working but it straight away giving option as "U want to open or want to save it". I dont want this i want first PDF to be shown in jsp then if some one wants to save he will click on save button in PDF and there and want this option.
    Kindly help me

Don't use JSP to serve a binary file. It almost implies the use of awful scriptlets and the invocation of both the response writer and the response outputstream which would only lead to IllegalStateException headaches in the server logs.
Use a Servlet instead. Specify the file name as request parameter and let the servlet read the file and write it to the outputstream of the response.

  • How can I save a page doc to iPhoto

    This is what I found in the support but I don't have the option, "Save PDF to iPhoto," in my PDF pop-up menu from Pages or from printing a PDF file;
You can save your document as an iPhoto album. Each album image displays one page. You can then transfer your document’s images to any iPhone or iPod that can display images. For example, you could display a Keynote or PowerPoint presentation and use a song from your iPod as background music. Any transitions or animations in your presentation will not appear.
To save a document to iPhoto:
Open the document and choose File > Print.
Choose “Save PDF to iPhoto” from the PDF pop-up menu.

That is my proposition. I got iPartion and iDefrag lite when I was about to upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard. The application has served me well. Read this page first http://www.coriolis-systems.com/iPartition-faq.php
But you could spare yourself and just do the work manually with the document.
    1. Export or Print to PDF
    2. Open the pdf in Preview and Save as JPEG
    3. In iPhoto Import the document
A little more work but you'll get the document wher you want it!

  • How do you save a "song listing" to print?

    Someone, Anyone....
I am attempting to print my ‘song listing”. All works well on my printer except my library is big enough that it will take sometime to accomplish the task on my printer.
There is an option when printing that gives the user the chance to print to a output file. I have tried this in hopes of saving the file to disk and printing the listing on a faster printer, and one with duplex printing.
The problem: The file is indeed saved, however when pulling it up to browse it the characters are unreadable. Does anyone know how to save the print file so that it can be printed on mutilple printers?
    Thanks for your assistance…..

Select Music under Library, then File -> Save as...
Save it as a text file and you can import it into Excel (or any spreadsheet app) as a CSV.
Then you can delete the rows you don't want and sort however.
Or select Music under Library, go to menu View -> View options and tick the columns you want.
Then select all the songs (ctrl A) and copy (ctrl C) then paste into a text document.
Easiest way is the first since the columns will be separated.
