my imac 10.4 has upgraded my firefox; since that time my desk top is constantly invaded by empty files...i get rid of these by shutting down.

Just to add, those Mini ones & odd shaped small ones can ruin a Slot Loading Optical drive forever.

Open your Applications folder - find Safari in the applications, and double click on the icon in there. You may have a corrupt alias in the dock at the bottom.

Try resetting the SMC:

How can we add empty folders in installers?

Hi All,
I need some help with with LV installers. I have built an built an installer for an application that I am using. But along with the application I would like to create an empty folder as well. I am creating this folder in the "Destinations" option in the installer properties, but when I build and install the application, that particular folder is not there. Am I missing something here?
Also, I am new to this forum and not sure if this has been posted earlier. I apologize if it has been posted earlier.

You can configure your installer to run an executable after installation.
Create a small batch file or EXE that creates the empty folders.

You have to search with some patience and you will find all the informations on the Apple support pages and here in this forum.
You find i Cloud in SAFARI at www.icloud.com and set as you like.
Usually iCloud sincs all the devices which have the same AppleID.
If you wish to use devices for different persons you need to give them different AplleID and on the MAC create different User Accounts. Each will be fully separate.
Or you can go to settings (settings are to be found under the apple icon on top left of the screen) and from there open Sistem Preferences and iCloud.

Empty Folders appearing on Desktop

Keep getting folders on my desktop that I am not putting there.
The folders are Untitled FOlder 1, Untitled FOlder 2, Untitled FOlder 3, and then also Burn Folder 1, Burn Folder 2, Burn Folder 3, etc.
They just appear. I leave the computer, come back hours later, and there they are. Delete them, but same process repeats itself.
They are all empty.
What the heck is that all about? How to stop it?

The sharing settings on the other computer do not matter, because the folders are not appearing on those computers. It is the sharing settings on your iMac that matters. As I said before, the three ways I can think of to reproduce what you describe are:
(1) When you are away from your iMac, sneak in and put a folder on your Desktop.
(2) From one of the other Macs, connect to your iMac over file sharing. To do this, I would have to know your user name and password, and you would have to have +File Sharing+ enabled on your iMac (the sharing settings on the other Mac does not matter). Once connected, put the folder into your Desktop folder.
(3) From one of the other Macs, connect to your iMac using screen sharing. To do this, I would have to know your user name and password, and you would have to have +Screen Sharing+ enabled on your iMac (the sharing settings on the other Mac does not matter). Once connected, control your iMac and put a folder on your Desktop.
If it happened while you were sitting at your computer and paying attention to the screen, then (2) would be the only way.
The fact that it did not happen when AirPort was turned OFF is consistent. Then (1) would be the only way to make it happen. And it also seems to show that the cause is not some odd background process you have running that creates random folders on the Desktop.
You might try going to System Preferences Accounts pane and changing your user account password. Then, with AirPort turned ON, see if it still happens.

Stop hidden folders appearing in Templates (ie File:New... dialog)

I have a sinking feeling that I'm going to be sweet out of luck on this one, but it's worth a shot...
We currently have two versioned folders for our company's reuse library (one in user.lib and one in instr.lib) so that things nicely appear on palettes without the need for 3rd party software etc. To complement this, today I was thinking that those VIT files we have could be even better placed in the Templates folder of LabVIEW so that when we go to File->New... we would be able to see our various company templates, etc....
However, when I tried this, the hidden folders etc that Subversion leaves also appear in the templates dialog so I end up seeing something simliar to this (there is only one VI, called "Wizard Dialog.vit" in the new templates folder right now):

Here's the background:
Some of the issues that we have had with our reusable elements in the past is
1. Ensuring that the various developers get the updates (ideally as automatic as possible)
2. Ensuring that the process for creating new reuse elements and updating existing is as streamlined as possible. In particular, an earlier process required that each template, etc be manually reviewed by a panel. Whilst this sounds good on paper, what was happening was that the review board would often get busy and things just wouldn't happen.
We therefore wanted to look at other options for allowing more creative freedom to the various engineers that could keep the reuse library alive. It was thought that a versioned location in user.lib, instr.lib and templates would allow any of the engineers (of which almost all are at least CLD) to contribute, whilst retaining change history etc. In addition, developers can choose to use something like CommitMonitor to automatically keep their reuse library up to date (helping address #1).
With the user.lib and instr.lib locations, this has been working like a charm and the Templates folder was the next target on the list for the expansion as some reuse elements are designed to be customized, and needed to be more of a complete VI than a Merge VI (e.g. a dialog box requires controls to be specifically located as well as block diagram code). It was at this point that I tried creating a versioned sub-fodler within Templates, found the issue, and came here.

How do I stop an album appearing multiple times in album view?

Whenever I try to look at albums in album view some of them are appearing multiple of times. I have gone through everything I can think of made sure that all the sort fields are the same etc, yet they still appear more than once. Now with the update to iTunes 11, whenever I try and search an album it it is giving the me the multiple versions instead of just the one. Did you check this out in a clean profile without any extensions and other modifications?
