Internal Security 1.0 add-on continues to self-install after being removed. Firefox points out that it is a security threat and disables it. I uninstall it. The next time I start Firefox it reinstalls itself.

But you never invited or signed up for these messages. DO NOT unsubscribe; they are fishing for live email addresses, so every time you reply, they know yours is a good address, and sell it on. And so you get more.
Mark them as Junk and delete them. Job done.
The only time you should unsubscribe is when you have previously signed up and have requested or accepted them, and have later decided you don't want them any more.

Depending on your iPad model, if you have Siri you can tell her to turn Cellular Data off. If you own the iPad 2, then the only way I was able to do it was to get a SIM card (you don't need to activate it) and place it in the Sim slot. Once you do that, you then have access to turn off cellular data through settings.
Settings->Cellular Data - toggle it off.

After selecting Polytonic Greek as one of the languages for use in composing text (MS Word), I found that Greek appeared as the default language in certain Safari windows, typically those (like a university email account I use) that are configurable for people of many nationalities. It's maybe worth noting that when Greek appeared in my Mac's language menu, it appeared above US English, unlike the other languages I use.
None of the following have fixed the problem:
--Deselecting Greek and restarting/shutting down (multiple times)
--Clearing the cache and history in Safari (multiple times)
--Running Disk Warrior and Drive Genius, my standard system maintenance software

I found Greek at the top of the language list, above English. I think that made it the default language in certain circumstances.
Yes, having Greek at the top of that list does several things: Any app which has a Greek version will open with its menus and dialogues in that language. If you have installed a Greek spell checker, that will become the default in all Apple apps. And Safari will ask for the Greek version of any web site that offers that as an option. On the list, Greek appears as Ελληνικά.

If you install QT 7.1.6, it says 7.1.6 in the help screen. If you install the newly released security update, nothing changes to show the security update has been applied. It still says 7.1.6 in the help screen. Even running the patch manually, it gives no indication it has successfully installed.
I am required to install this patch on about 200 clasroom machines but have no way to verify which ones get the patch and which don't. Apparently I can't even go around to each of them and manually verify.

When I log on, firefox opens 3 different websites. 2 of which are not my homepage. How do I stop this from happening? It started when I installed the latest version of firefox.

Nowhere can I find a button, in firefox, to delete 2 of these websites.

I'm thinking this has to be a Apple update to iTunes 11.0.4.4 fix.

ever since my last update for itunes, whenever i add music, it is taking 10x longer to add the files and i get pinwheels for over a minute. for example, i added a 9 track album and it took almost 7 minutes to complete the adding of the files. it has never taken this long. any help??

long shot but try for good measure:
check if you have read & write permissions for your music folder. in the finder, right-click on it and get info. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and apply to enclosed items like so
the important part is to apply to enclosed items !

How do I stop duplicating files when I "add to library" ?

I have a folder on an external hard drive containing 20,000 songs. "When I Add To Library" 5,500 get duplicated. I have unchecked the copy files to iTunes Media folder and this still happens. Every file shows the exact same date added. I have never had this problem in the past. I syncronized the hard drive with external library from my lap top, created a new library on the iMac and then Add To Library, the entire folder.
The backup folder does not show all these duplicates. I have thrown out the folder and recopied it from the backup. It looks fine until I try to Add To Library. Then 1/4 of my tracks get duplicated. Most of these are recent purchases, but not all of them.

What exactly are you doing. You never "upload" a library into iPhoto. You import photos (never a library) into iPhoto
And for many reasons I would never import 75,000 in one import. Do a thousand or a few thousand at a time

My Mail kept re-caching attachments on Snow Leopard so I upgraded to Mountain Lion 10.8.3 but am facing the same problem. The Mail keeps caching attachments from all old emails even after caching them once. I have tried deleting my account and creating them again, repairing disk permissions etc. but to no avail. In the account settings within Mail, for each IMAP account there is an "advanced" tab. There is a "keep copies for offline viewing" option with a drop-down box that lets you pick what you want. Choose "all messages, but omit attachments."
