How Do I Tell If A JPEG/SWF Has Loaded/Is Loading?

I did a site for a photographer, loading an XML file and then
loading all the thumbnails and images.
At his request I loaded ALL the images at the beginning
(looped through XML file and loaded images one by one -- loading
each when previous one loaded)
Needless to say, this approach has a long front-loading time
(which I thoguht it would), and he wants to change it so that each
image is loaded as you click on it, AND the remaining images are
loaded in the background.
What's the best way to go about this? To have the other
images load on onEnterFrame? And then in the meantime if I want to
load a particular image I can do loadMovie() on it when the user
wants to see it.
But if I'm populating the array of other images in the
background and the user wants to see one I'm in the process of
loading, how do I handle that? Set a flag that says "I'm loading
this image", and another that says "this image is loaded"?
Do I need to use flags, or is there an inehrent property of
the movie clilp that I can test?
Thanks
Robert

Thanks. Then I could store a MovieClipLoader in my
picture-associated object and check when coming in from the outside
to see if <> undefined ?
My question has to do with "concurrency" -- that is, if in
one part of the program I'm running through an array of these
picture-objects, creating MovieClipLoaders and storing them in my
picture-object, but elsewhere in the program I'm looking for
mouseclicks and if a user wants to view a particular picture then I
go ahead and check the associated picture object to see if it's
already loading -- what lag, if any, is there in assigning the
MovieClipLoader in my bulk loading in the array and checking for it
in my mouseclick handling?
That is to say, if I have two parts of the program both
trying to load the same picture, I need a "lockout" so that they
don't both try to load it at the same time -- and this "lockout"
would be the MovieClipLoader -- one or the other will do new
MovieClipLoader() and the other will check for this before trying
to create it. But what I'm curious about is whether there is a lag
between one part of the programming checking for this and creating
it, and the other part checking for it -- and how to deal with
that.

There is no "iPad 5" as an official model designation. Did you mean an iPhone 5 as you list in your profile?

Are you planning to connect your iPad to your computer and using iTunes upgrade your software to iOS 5.0.1 (that's the current OS available for iPad)?  I would certainly suggest you update.  If you do, then the manual on your iPad will also be updated.

  • How can i tell if my iphone 4 has been hacked into?

Here is the situation.....a friend of mine is in a bad marriage. She found out her husband bugged her laptop and her phone and is finding out all of her conversations. The other day, we were all at a buffet restaurant and he was sitting at the table with us, without thinking anything of it, I left my purse with my phone at the table while all but him went up to the bar. Later on that night, I was in the car with another friend and we were talking in detail about our friends situation. The next day my friend whom I was talking to in the car, checked her answering machine, and our conversation was on her machine. I checked my call log AND detailed billing from AT&T  thinking I may have butt dialed her house, but there is no record of me calling her house. The same with her, she as no record of calling her house and her home phone does not have caller ID. This guy is very tech savy and is the manager of 4 AT&T stores. Is it possible for him to have hacked into my phone and put some sort of bug in it? If this is possible, is it also possible for my phone to be able to record our conversation without a call being placed? If it is possible, how can I tell if my phone has been hacked?
    Thanks

It would be extremely difficult for someone to be able to grab your iPhone out of your purse and hack into it without having a laptop computer with him with which to jailbreak the iPhone and time to work on it. I can't say it would be impossible, though. I'd suggest as a precaution you perform a Restore on your iPhone; if it restores successfully that would clear any jailbreak and remove any hack.

  • How do I tell if the RMAN Registration has worked correctly?

Am using Oracle, DataProtector and SAP with RMAN and am registering the database in RMAN using the standard DataProtector commands.
How do I tell that the database has actually registered the catalog inside the RMAN DB? I can do a "list backups" but it does not tell me whether the control file is being used for the catalog or the RMAN Database. Can anyone assist?

  • How can I tell if my macbook pro has been restored to factory settings?

I just bought I brand new macbook pro (15,4 inch) from an official apple store... but I'm thinking that it may be used (it was a bit dirty when I opened it, but it has no scratches).
I tried with coconut battery, but it went ok, the battery is new. However they might have changed it.
Is there a way to know if the mac was restored to factory settings?
... if not, is there any other way to know if is a used laptop?
    Thanks,

cycle count says 1... wich correspond to the initial battery discharge I just did. That's why I think they may have changed the battery.
Serial number is C02FHFG0DF8V... how can you tell if this correspond to a refurbished unit?
It has all the "official" envelops of a brand new mac... the thing is that I found small dust specks all over the interior of the box and in the accesories (not on the notebook itself).
According to coconut "Age of your Mac" is 11 weeks.
That's why I thought the only way I could knew for sure if they used it before (maybe for showcasing at the store) was finding out if it was restored to factory settings. (Also I bought it in an official apple store).

  • How could I tell if my iPhone 4s has been jailbroken?

    Hello everyone!
I'm sorry if this may sound extremely stupid, but I'm not very good with the whole Apple hardware, and what makes it tick.
I had read something about jailbroken iPhones and hacking viruses, and just before I had read that, I had encountered someone on Tumblr (through Safari, not the Tumblr application, if there is one...I don't personally have an account, but I browse the site) who had suffered some kind of hacking virus.
I panicked a little, wondering if there was a possibility the virus from their blog could effect my iPhone, and a few searches on Safari later, I then panicked about whether my iPhone could possibly be jailbroken.
I'm not looking for any websites to check whether the phone is jailbroken or not, (it probably isn't), and I'm not looking to jailbreak it, but I've recieved so much help from these communities I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask this silly question.
I've heard a lot about the whole loading screen (when you first turn the phone on and the apple logo with the little crease through the apple shows up) being different, etc, and a whole slew of others.
Everything looks normal....the loading screen is black with the apple logo and crack/crease/curved line...whatever you wish to call it, but it won't stop me from being paranoid, haha.
Could anyone help? Just how could I tell without downloading or messing with anything on my phone or computer?

If it's your iPhone and you've not jailbroken it, why would you be concerned that it might be jailbroken?
Did you purchase it from Apple or another reseller?  OR from some average joe on the street, ebay, or craigslist?
The only way to jailbreak a device is to physically get your hands on it.

  • How can you tell if an iPod touch has the new apps?

Having seen the updates to the ipod Touch I'm finally ready to buy one. From the keynote I gather that new units shipping from the factory after 15 Jan have the new software, old units do not and, unusually for apple, even if you buy an old software unit after the announcement, you don't get the software for free. Worse still, I'm in one of those countries they sell the touch, but don't have an iTunes store, so if I buy an old one, I'm stuck with it, cannot upgrade.
Is there any way to tell from the box which version you have, change in part number, anything? I'm sure they aren't doing the M$ sticker approach "now with 1.1.3 and lots of new apps". The return policy out here in Singapore is basically you can't, so I need to figure out in the store if the box I'm buying is new, or old, and I have no clue at all how much stock is left out there.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello,
If you're going to buy in a real shop then why not have the retailer open the box for you. Especially if they don't do returns - that's a must.
The next suggestion is a little more hit-and-miss but the fourth and fifth digits of the Serial Number are the week of production. If you get a week 02 or later it should be okay. Perhaps someone with a brand new one could confirm.

  • How can I tell if my Mac Mini has what it takes to support Windows XP OS?

I need some help understanding how the whole Windows OS thing works with my Mac mini. I'm totally clueless about it.
The first thing I would like to know is if my Mac has enough memory & power to accommodate the additional Windows OS without compromising its performance?
Here's a list of what I have to work with. I have no idea about what any of this means but I'm hoping someone can use the info to assess my needs.
    Model Name: Mac mini
    Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
    Processor Speed: 1.83 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 2 MB
    Memory: 1.25 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz
When I bought my Mac mini I was told that its ROM size was 80GB. I partitioned the HD into 2 HDs when I select them individually & choose get info, one partition says MacHD1 Capacity: 39.88GB & the second partition says MacHD2 Capacity: 34.21GB. When I total up the memory capacity of both partitions I get a total of 74.09. What happened to the remaining 5.91GB?
Would it still be possible to install Windows on at least one HD partition or would it be better if I joined the two HD partitions (after reinstalling MacOS) & then install Windows?
Assuming that my Mac has the necessary memory & speed to run Windows, how do I begin the process of installing the Windows OS on my Mac? And, in the same respect, assuming that it doesn't meet the sufficient standards, then what can I do, if anything, to improve my Mac's performance so that it can support the additional OS?
Also, I have Virtual PC with Windows XP installer. When I bought VPC I was told that the package contained the full version of Windows XP OS. Can I use this software to install Windows XP, without installing VPC, or will I have to purchase the XP installation disc? Basically I would be buying something that I already have & I would like to avoid this if possible.
That's all. Any information would be helpful & greatly appreciated. THANX!
    AJ

Thanks for responding. I've actually decided to just throw myself in with the wolves and buy Windows XP along with Parallels Desktop and figure it all out on my own.
    Thank You!

  • How do I tell if an HP Printer has wireless networking capability?

I posted a message on another sub-forum about a specific problem I was having (i.e. getting a HP Laserjet P3015n to wirelessly network with a new Apple Extreme Base Station) and it occured to me that, even after reading through the product page description of the actual printer, and the corresponding Troubleshooting/FAQ page, I don't even know if the 3015n even has wireless capability.
Is there a way to tell which HP printers have such capability?
On older printers, I used to see the little red/black window at the bottom that I presumed was a little thingey that was an infrared beam that presumably indicated the possibility wireless connectivity.  But I'm not so sure now.
I'm specifically interested in good quality, heavy-use HP Printers for my home network and a small (10 work station and 1 server) network at work.
So is there a list of these wireless-capable printers somewhere or some lingo that's used that indicates such?  It's probably obvious, but I'm missing it.  Though the allure of fewer cords is certainly something I like!
    Thanks for the help!

You can make it wireless for about $21.

  • How do you tell if your macbook pro has a virus?

How can I be sure that my MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 does not have a virus?
My email was suspended by the hosting company saying that the account was sending out spam.
They told me to run anti-virus on the computer and make sure it was clean; then they would take my email off suspension.
Please help, I need to have access to my email account!
    Thanks

You don't have any viruses. It sounds like you may be getting scammed. Has your email account actually been locked? If it has, then send them an email stating you have no viruses on your Mac computer. Check first to be sure the email came from your hosing company's email address.

  • How can I tell if my MacBook Pro has a Retina display?

I am happy to say, that I am the PROUD OWNER of a 15" MacBook Pro and I don't know if the one that I have has a Retina display built into it.
I was looking on the forums, to see if I might be able to get away with installing a copy of Windows 7 Pro (32-bit) via USB and I noticed that one of the forums said that you could, if you had a MacBook Pro that has a Retina display built into it.
I would very my like to know if there's a way to find out or if there's a website that I can check out that would be able to guide me in the right direction.
PLEASE HELP...IF I CAN DO IT, IT WOULD SAVE ME A LOT OF MONEY FROM HAVING TO BUY A NEW COPY AND I CAN STILL GET THE DRIVERS FROM THE BOOTCAMP TO PULL IT OFF.
