How do I transfer from Windows Media Player to ipod?

I have recently brought my first ipod and need help transfering my libary onto my ipod.

Hello bountyboy,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
The first thing you will have to do is import the music that is currently in your Windows Media Player library over to your iTunes library because that is the only way you will be able to sync any music to it. Here is an article that provides instructions on how to do this: [Transfer Music from Windows Media Player to iTunes|http://www.jakeludington.com/askjake/20080329_transfer_music_from_windows_media_player_toitunes.html]
From there, you will be able to set your iPod up to sync the music and such however you wish. If you need more help on how to sync the music to your iPod, I think this Apple support document should be able to assist you.

Hope this helps.

    Hello Rolando,
    Welcome to Sony Community.
You can directly transfer content by drag-and-drop to your computer from the below link:
    http://esupport.sony.com/docs/reader/PRST1/eng/contents/03/01/02/02.html?search=windows
Also, you can try the “SYNC” option in the Windows Media Player, after connecting the Reader to the Computer, for transferring the songs.
Refer the below link to check for the supported file types.

  • How to convert WMA files (from Windows Media Player) to play in iTunes

How do I convert WMA files (from Windows Media Player) to now play in iTunes?

Use Edit > Preferences > General tab > Import Settings to set your desired import format and bitrate. Note there is no point converting 128k wma into 320k mp3, you'll just get bigger files with no improvement in quality. Once you have set your import settings just drag & drop the files you want converted into iTunes.

Within iTunes use the add folder to library option available on file menu. Select the folder to add. iTunes will add the file to iTunes library. Depending on settings, iTunes may copy the file to iTUnes folder location.

  • How do i get my Windows Media Player Songs to my itunes????

Hi, I cant figure out how to transfer my w. Media player songs to my itunes?? I am still new at this can someone help me out? It asked me once along time ago but i didnt have any of my music on there then!!! Thank you so much for any help. I appreciate it! Emmers.

    Kudos!
Anyway, I have 56 songs transfered from Windows Media Player to iTunes. I've done this over the course of one and half years at about every two or three month intervals. Every time I discovered new songs something changed in my Mom's PC and I would have to import into iTunes differently; for example, I would convert the songs and then just drag and drop into iTunes or save the playlist as a format that could be converted in iTunes. Right now I have about twenty songs in WMP waiting for iTunes. When I do drag and drop songs from WMP to iTunes they appear in iTunes but they won't sync to my Nano. They won't convert to AAC file either. Now, these are songs from the internet and that is exactly how iTunes reads them; files from a website. Is there anyway to get my songs into iTunes? I tried everything Dave Sawyer and Chris CA said but nothing seems to be working!

  • Transferring files from windows media player

how do i transfer all my library from windows media player and napster into itunes? when i first hooked up my ipod to my computer it prompted me to convert my whole library but now i can't figure out how to do it again.
    thanks

how do i transfer all my library from windows media player and napster into itunes?
For songs you ripped yourself from CD, you simply find the WMA files and drag them into the iTunes library. It'll convert them.
For songs you purchased on Napster and such, you can't. Napster and Wal-Mart and all those stores that sell WMA files are incompatible with iTunes and the iPod. Don't buy from those services in the future.

  • Transferring songs from Windows Media Player and others to iTunes

    G'day folks,
First of all - great stuff this forum! Had some issues with my new Mini but finally got it up and running thanks to the Q&A's here. One thing I couldn't find though, and that's how to transfer songs from my media player to iTunes.
Here's the thing: First time I installed iTunes, it automatically started importing songs from Windows Media player (harddisk?) to iTunes - happy days! It all went sort of slow though and at one point I had to leave the house so I switched off the comp, assuming it'd get on with it again next time.
However, it didn't. Now I've been trying over and over but I cannot manage to get more songs imported into iTunes. Any suggestions?
Also (minor problem), in iTunes I can see a LimeWire directory, with all the songs in there I downloaded ages ago through LimeWire (sorry, I know it's wrong, shame on me, this was before my iPod era). I can play these songs in iTunes, but not send them to my Mini. Any ideas or is this impossible?
Thanks a million for helping out!

iTunes will convert WMA files as long as they are not protected. See this.
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format.
You'll end up with a set of duplicates so you can delete the WMA files if you no longer want them.

  • I can sync media files from Windows Media Player to my ipod, but the information will not show up on my ipod. Why?

I HATE using iTunes (it's a pain in the bleeping arse) so, despite what someone from Apple told me, I tried to sync a song from Windows Media Player onto my ipod. The sync appears to be successful, and yet when I ejected my ipod to check to see if the song was on there, it was not. Why? And how do I get it on there? I want to avoid using iTunes at all costs.

Try MediaMonkey or Winamp. Unlike Windows Media Player which will just blindly throw the files onto the iPod's hard drive these two at least (there may be others) know that they have to update the device's database if you are going to be able to access the content that has been added.

  • Moving music from windows media player

i swear ive done this before, but i cannot remember how i did it. how do i move .wma files from windows media player into itunes library? i cannot drag them over, i just get the circle w/ a slash. ive tried sync-ing them directly onto my nano from media player program & it lists them in the pop up window on my computer, but they are lsited no where in song titles on my actual nano for me to access. ive tried converying the format & it wont allow me. i know it can be done, i just cant figure out how. thank you.

First, find out where Media Player has stored the music files on your computer. It typically is in Documents and Settings\(Your Name)\My documents\My Music and then there should be a folder that has a name that resembles Media Player. If you pull up Tools>Options and click the "Rip Music" tab it will show you where you have your music stored. So then pull up this folder that it tells you to, then pull up the iTunes window as well, and then simply drag and drop the folders into your iTunes music library. iTunes will convert the songs automatically for you, sometimes this may take a while. For example, I have 3300 songs on my Hard Drive and it took the entire day for iTunes to convert all of the ones it needed to. So just be patient and you should be good to go.
