Let's say, I have an Iphone 3GS and it was synced to my older pc (I know...) and it crashed and I can't retrieve my files on there. I want everything that I have on my 3Gs: photos, videos, music, notes, voice recordings, etc... Now, I recently upgraded to 4Gs. I can sync almost everything via icloud but there are files like photos, videos, other music that I cannot sync or for some weird reason it won't work over the cloud. I'm a windows media user (was), and I can find a way to update media files in Itunes without either deleting all the files from itunes and reloading everything or by trying to pin point all the directories and ending up getting duplicate files made. i mean its a bit frustrating trying to find all NEW FILES ONLY and not being able to. I miss the same feature, to add new files in my folder... i have all my MP3`s in a seperated folder in D:.... if i add new Albums or i copy my buyed music from, the folder itunes/mymusic into D: i have to erase my bibliothek and add all files new... all covers and stars are loost.
Is there a way???

Ich vermisse eine Möglichkeit meine Bibliothek zu aktualisieren. Da meine MP3-Sammlung auf einer separaten Festplatte ist und ich hier ständig neue Alben/Titel hinzufüge, muss jedes mal meine gesamte Bibliothek aus iTunes löschen und dann neu hinzufügen.
Sicher kann ich jeden einzelnen Ordner hinzufügen, aber bei größeren Aktionen sehr umständlich, und da ich meine Ordner nicht im iTunes sondern auf einem anderen Laufwerk habe, muss ich so jeden Ordner bzw. Titel aus der Bibliothek entfernen... ansonsten kommt das Ausrufezeichen!
Gibt es keine kompfortablere Lösung? Wäre ein Verbesserungsvorschlag.
PS: gibt es bei Apple ein deutsches Forum für iPod und Co???

you should starting with copying the iTunes folder from your old laptop to the new one.
the iTunes folder is in your user profile Music folder.
it should go to the same location on the new laptop.
Provided that you have your media, music and movies in the default location, and you sign in to your apple ID and authorize your new computer (all in iTunes)
you should have all intact.

And you set up your own new ID and account but can NOT access the updates, from the App store for the many apps that you already have, because they require that you sign in with that former now inaccessible ID and account and password? Call it a problem of modern times and changing relationships, if you want to be charitable.

So I guess it will only be new apps that I download that are allowed to give me their updates while 13 updates wait for me on an ID I can no longer access.

I think you will find that you have to have a debit/credit card stored on yur account regardless of whether your have iTunes Credit or want to purchase a free App. I don't know why, I assume its for ID verification or is part of the terms and conditions. I occasionally have to re-verify my credit card info even when just trying to run Update on one of my Apps or like I said downloading a free App.
