How do use "reports runtime"?

Hi, we have a system where we need to use Oracle Reports to manually generate static pdf documents from rdf files once a month. I'm doing this from the command line using the "rwrun.exe" that came with my install of Oracle Developer Suite.
However, for various reasons, I need to migrate to another pc, but I can't use another license for DS. I was told that one can install the "reports runtime" without using a license, so I'm trying to figure out how to do that but have had no success so far. Does anyone know what is meant by "reports runtime" and where to get it from?

Runtime.getRuntime().exec("d10dmp filename1.VVV filename1.XML");2. set the complete/absolute path to the program. in your case runtime uses the current working-directory and that's the one from where you had called the java-app

Hi,
As per my understanding you want to see Query Designer when you execute the query in BEx Analyzer.
When you launch BEx analyzer,you should be able to see new tab of "Business Explorer" in your Toolbar.
So,when you execute the query in BEx analyzer,in order to goto query designer screen,click on Tab "Business Explorer",select option "Change Query" and then select the option "ChangeQuery (Global Definition)".
It will open the query designer in which you can modify the query and save it.

How to use Report Builder with permission extension

Is there any method to let web site which use SSRS and Report Builder use different permission extension module?
In our web site project we use ReportingService2010 Methods to show and operate folder and report which stored in Report Service, in our project configuration file, we use windows authentication mode for Report Service.
In requirement 1.User can do any operation in folder “A” and folder “B” (we can create and delete report or folder) in web site. 2.User can’t use “Report Builder” to save reports which created by Report Builder to folder “B”, Reports which created by Report
Builder only can be saved in folder “A”. [User click “Report Builder” button in our web page to start Report Builder, use “Report Builder” to create report, if user want to save report, we need to hidden folder “B” in “Report Builder” or we need to remove
some operate right from folder “B”.]
We have two solution:
1. We want to write extension module to process this issue, we want to re-write CheckAccess method which will be called by web site backend and Report Builder, but how can we know who called CheckAccess method[Web site backend called CheckAccess method
or Report Builder?]
2. We want to let Web site back-end use permission extension module named WebSitePer.dll, and Report Builder use PBPer.dll, how to modify the configuration file?

As far as I know, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), have no permission extension. In Reporting Services, it is use role-based security to grant user access to a report server. There are two types of roles: Item-level roles and System-level roles.
Based on my test, if we assign user with System User System-level role, the user will have permission to user Report Builder to create report. However, if we only assigned Browser or Report Builder Item-level role to the user, he/she will have no permission
to publish the report to the report server. In this situation, although user have permission user Report Builder to edit the report, it will have no effect of the report in report server. User who has assigned Browser or Report Builder Item-level role will
have no permission to delete report in the report server.

How to use Report Parameter on Data Template

I 've tried to create a Report using Data template and Report Parameter. I create a report using data template and I also created a parameter (P_company_name).
Data Template :

When the endusers run the Report they will provide the Company name through the report parameter.
I have tried to use the same approach that I used to pass the Parameter to SqlQuery on data Template but it is not working . XML Publisher cannot define the parameter.
How can I do that ?

Just keep the parameter name in datatemplate and the definition same.

How to use the runtime ?

I'm trying to launch an external program that transformates .VVV files into .XML files
The only way I know to use that program manually is in a MS-DOS window, GOING in the folder (TOTO)containing the .VVV and the program (d10dmp.exe and the .dll used in the transformation), and launching the command :
c:\TOTO\d10dmp filename1.VVV filename1.XML
Now I want my java program to launch that external program with the same parameters and in this environment, in order to realise the transformations.
A very kind person told me here that I had to use :
Process p=Runtime.getRuntime().exec("d10dmp filename1.VVV filename1.XML");
That does not functionates, I have tried many ways to use it, but I always have an IOException error (but I don't know exactly what)
Where must I precise the folder to execute the operation ? How ? What's wrong with my program ?
In fact I don't know how functionates Runtime and I certainly don't use it as it has to be used. Somebody can help me please ?
How can I see the nature of the IOException throwed by a program ?
I have joined to my package the d10dmp.exe and the .dll used in the transformation, how can I manipulate it and copy to the folder I want to make the transformation in ?

How to have report which use the odbc name of the database

First, sorry for my English... i have a BIG problem with Crystal 2008. I have a lot of report created with crystal report 8. In crystal report 8, when i create a report, i select the odbc and then add all the tables i need. then i go under "database", "setting position". here i find all the tables and if i select them, in the field "table" the name is "databasename.dbo.tablename". so i delete "databasename.dbo." and leave only "tablename". so in my app i can use the name i want for the database, i only need to create the odbc with the correct database name and it works.
now with crystal 2008 i can't do this!!!! if i change the name of the database and modify the odbc, when i print the report i have an error like "provider error" or similar. i try to use the expert database, the "change position data source" but no results. this appends only if i add a new table to an old report or if i create a new report.
what shall i do?? now i'm still using crystal 8 (i only need to use the runtime and the preview object in .net, but i don't need all the feature of the new crystal report), but i'd like to use the new one because it's a lot better for create reports....

Intelli-sense should show you the other methods if you want to simply change the formula text.
Searching the RDC samples on our site should give more Visual Basic sample, the methods will be the same just the syntax will b e different. Serch craxdrt.tlh for more info on which methods and classes are available.
