How do you regain access to change info on song info

i had itunes loaded on my old computer and it was sent out to get fixed, i had my files on a external hard drive. i just bought a new computer and dragged and dropped my itunes library into the new computer. the new songs i downloaded into the new computer, i can change the song info on (album, song names etc). the songs that were loaded from the old computer putting them onto the external drive info is greyed out and cannot be changed. is there a way to fix this issue?

Since you have Vista--there is a possibility that you don't have full permission to alter these files. To change your authorization status:
Do you store your music in your iTunes folder? Or in a separate music folder or on another hard disk?
If the files are in your iTunes folder, you can find this by going to Start>Computer>Hard Disk C>Users (in left column)>Your Name (in right column)>Music>iTunes>iTunes Music (the FOLDER not the library file)
Inside this folder with be folders with artist names. Click on one of these and keep opening things until you get to an actual song file, then right click and choose "Properties". When the next box opens, choose the security tab, scroll down and click on your name (probably second on list after "System"). Make sure you have FULL PERMISSION for all functions. If you don't click the "Edit" button and change things so you do.
If you don't keep your music files inside your iTunes folder, then go to the place where you store these files. Find an actual song file, right click, choose properties and then follow the instructions above.

Our ATTEMPTED solution: She found a site "http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-7339… This site told her to do something in the boot terminal that allowed her to add a new administrative account.
She tried going into that new admin account and changing the passwords to the other accounts; no joy. She changes them, but, they are not retained when she logs off or restarts.
How can she regain access to her old files?

I was loading images via a flash memory card which was inserted into a USB holder – during the 'download' the connection was broken [faulty USB connection]. I then re-inserted the card via the USB holder the connection was 're-broken' with a screen message indicating that 'force eject' was an option. I clicked the 'force eject' option and when I re-inserted the card/holder 120 images [approx] were missing and when I tried to open iPhoto the screen messages detailed above were displayed.
Current software is: iPhoto v9.2.3; Snow Leopard v10.6.8.
Using TD's Option 1:
i.e. “hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database” resulted in .
"Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable" with a window request “quit”
& Option 2 “Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function”.
Resulted in the following message:
“The library could not be loaded because an error occurred. The library database could not be loaded; no such table RKVersionFaceContent. The album data file for the library 'iPhoto Library' could not be read” - [my italics]
Followed your instructions, re. 'new library' and it worked perfectly. All I have to do is select 'iPhoto Library2' and proceed as normal.

p.s. And this is completely 'off the wall' as I don't expect a positive outcome, but is it possible that all the images 'deleted' from my flash memory card could be somewhere in/on my HDD? If so, how would I proceed to recover them?

How do You Make Accurate Speed Changes To Clips?

How do you apply a speed change to an audio clip in with frame accuracy? I have 2 audio clips, one from a camera and the other from a cheap solid-state recorder. The latter has audio drift and needs a one-off, constant adjustment to sync it with the camera audio.
However, FCP only wants to execute clip speed changes down to 1/10th of 1%, which is not small enough. Does anyone know what to do here - either within FCP or Sountrack Pro? Thanks.

I just know that often when capturing long segments of DV tape for our shows, we occasionally get a clip that comes in at 47.998 or 48.002, instead of the solid 48kHz.
When I export to aiff, it seems to clear up any sync drifting we experience with the original clips.
Might give it a go.
STPro is a solid option as others pointed out. I simply suggested a quick fix to a possible sync/drift issue. (quicker than learning a new interface...though that's something that should be done anyway, for the tools STPro offers).

When you do a typical System.out.print-whatever it prints a stream of text onto that default java window which popped up when you executed your program. Yes, thank you for this. I had upgraded the OS and then entered in what I thought was the original passcode but my iPhone did not recognize it. I entered in what i thought was the correct one, but then got locked out.
I have read this article but I do not have an iTunes set up, but I do have iCloud.
I understand that I can wipe my iPhone but once I do it, will i be able to regain access to my phone? Does wiping my phone though iCloud permit me to reset my passcode? I don't remember what my passcode was, so I would need to reset that too.

When I create portlets, there is usually an associated "admin" functionality that needs to be created for each custom application. An example is a shopping cart that we just created, we needed admins to be able to go in and upload photos.
The way that I do this is I create a new portlet "Shopping Cart Admin" and restrict access to it that way. However, because I usually add everything in the /remoteserver/shoppingcart/. folder to the gateway space (its too painful to add one by one), this means that I can't put admin.aspx in that folder. So I usually end up creating a NEW folder /remoteserver/shoppingcartadmin/ for the admin portlet.

Well, there are a few different ways to go about it. You could add a preferences page with the admin functionality, and then an admin would just have to click the little pencil in the portlet titlebar. No admin/edit access, no little pencil.
I have often set the visibility of an ASPX control directly from activity rights, in OnPageLoad, if it isn't postback time. The activity rights should be inherited by the user, through the user's group. Best practise is to create empty groups called Roles, add activity rights to the Roles, and then have the actual groups (that contain users) inherit from one or more Roles.
You already knew that part, I added it for the others. My personal definition of a portlet is 'polymorphous instance of a web service'.
So:
Role: Store Manager (has Edit Shopping Cart activity right)

Open Windows Media Player.
Go to Tools > Options > Library and unchheck everything.
This will keep WMP from changing everything in teh background.
Then re-edit all your info in iTunes.

It only looks like iTunes is changing the info.
When a file is first added to iTunes, the file info read and stored in the iTunes database and this is what is displayed. Whenever an item is actually played in iTunes, it will reread the info from the file.
Since WMP has changed the info in the background, iTunes will reread the info and update the database and disply the changed info.

Smb: how do you log access & disconnect users?

I've always relied on AFP for file sharing, but since it seems like that's kind of on the way out and SMB is the new way to do things, I've been trying that out instead. A few questions though...
Where are the access logs? I'm looking for the equivalent of the AppleFileServiceAccess.log that I see in the Console, that shows timestamps with IPs for opening & deleting files, etc. (Maybe logging has to be enabled with some seperate step that's not in the Server app GUI, or the log isn't called something obvious?)
How do you force a user to disconnect? (Remote users sometimes drop connections, so they're really not connected anymore but the server still shows the connection. For AFP users, I can use the Disconnect button to remove these ghosts, but when I try to use that button on an SMB connection I just get a message saying it only works for AFP. So... do the ghosts just pile up and you're supposed to ignore them, or do you have to restart the server, etc.?)

This is exactly what i was looking for, and Nelson is correct. When you enter the DAP configuration for a profile click on "Advanced" and there is the option to create a logical expression. The guide (ther is a button to access this) is really helpful, with a couple of examples. This is what i used:
