HOW do you use "com.sun.media.codec.video.jpeg.NativeEncoder"???

Hi!! I want to know if I can use this encoder (NativeEncoder) for encoding to MJPG.
If I do: PlugInManager.getPlugInList(new VideoFormat( VideoFormat.RGB),
                    new VideoFormat(VideoFormat.MJPG), PlugInManager.CODEC);
I obtain only one codec:com.sun.media.codec.video.jpeg.NativeEncoder
BUT, then, I do: codec.setInputFormat(new VideoFormat( VideoFormat.RGB))-->It returns me:NULL. why????!!!
Regards!

The input format may have to be more specific and suitable; eg for Windows :-
RGBFormat(new Dimension(w,h), w*h*3, Format.byteArray, -1.0F, 24, 3, 2, 1, 3, w*3,-1,-1)

  • How can you use one NetStream to publish video and audio from another NetStream in AS3?

Let's say one of your client programs in AS3 is able to receive live video and audio from a NetStream and play it on the screen.  How could you make it also take that video/audio stream that it's receiving, copy it over into another NetStream, and publish it elsewhere?  I need to know how to do with this regardless of whether RTMP, RTMFP, or some mixture is involved.  The reason why the stream needs to be relayed this way is a real long story, but it's necessary in this particular case. Thanks!

RTMP is TCP, which has higher overhead and latency because it guarantees packets are delivered (handshaking, causing latency and overhead). It also doesn't allow you to share connections directly between clients forcing the server to do all the work.
RTMFP uses UDP, which is a choice protocol for streaming video because it's the opposite. It's lossy which decreases latency and overhead from no retransmissions and most importantly (in some applications) allows you to connect directly from one Flash Player to another Flash Player (p2p) so the server overhead is dramatically reduced. The server is only required to negotiate the initial connection and then it's up to the clients to continue to facilitate that.
How you code your one to many or many to many relationship broadcast network will be based entirely on which of those you choose.
URLStream is very common to use in p2p. Here's an older Adobe article on p2p and an alternate quick old video tutorial (FP10) as a quick simple example of p2p over RTMFP you can view the source of.

  • How do you use Camera Raw Editor to open jpeg files by default, not using "Open As"?

I've searched for the Camera Raw setting that is available from the Photoshop (not PSE8) menu but it is not even available in Photoshop Elements 8 that I've been able to see.  Does anyone know where this setting is?

I had PSE8 set to open any file (tiff, jpeg and cr2) with the camera raw editor.  I can not figure out how it got changed or remember where to make this a default option in PSE8.  I found a video showing it available in Photoshop, main menu, camera raw and then you just check the boxes.  I've been looking for the similar setting in PSE8 again because I'm working through some exercises in a book and it is a nuisance to navigate to the image using the "open as" command every time.  I figured it would be just as easy to set the option by default, then, if I didn't want to use the raw editor, I could just click open from there.  Help?  Thanks so much!

The basic problem is that this program, like all of the JMF examples, is very haphazardly coded. From what I can gather somewhere in the excecution of the program there was a major thread conflict. JMF is not thread safe and requires the use of wait for state methods. In all honesty, I have never had a sample program compile and run succesfully as is. I think it would just be easier to re-write this code, except this time use the StateHelper class which can be found in the JMF guide. The StateHelper class manages all of the Player and Processor threads so you don't have to worry about it. I wish I could be of more help here but I think this is just a case of some sloppy code.

If your client is using jre version 1.4, you can use javax.imageio.ImageIO to do this. If your predecessor was doing some straightforward I/O, the changes could only be a few lines -- more easily done than trying to install non-standard packages...

  • Package com.sun.media

Where do i find the API documentation of the package com.sun.media.

    hi,
it is likely you won't find any api-documentation for this package since sun
usually discourages the use of some packages (compare sun.*)
and does not provide any documentation for that cause.
at least this is what i suspect; why do you want to use the anyway?
p.s. you can always have a look at the source code itself since it is open.

I have Installed JMF2.1.1b and downloaded the source code for JMF studio.. I like to be able to compile the code and eventually add couple of proprietary layer for our use... But I'm not able to successfully compile the code because of the missing packages & classes... such as
    com.sun.media.protocol.*
and basically its entire sub classes e.g.
    sunvideo, sunvideoplus, v4, etc...
can somebody pleasssse help me here??? R these packages accessible by developers??? if not what's a point of providing the source code of this application???
Is there any other way of introducing your customization to an existing application in Java env??? Does anybody even ever tried to do a similar thing with this or other Java applications???
    Would much appreciate your help.

Have you resolved this problem... Do you have this packages??

I'm looking for any code that uses[b] com.sun.media.rtsp.RtspManager that run sequence like DESCRIBE->SETUP>PLAY>PAUSE.
Is there a possible link beetwen RtspManager and Player/Processor well documented in JMF ?
I am looking for com.sun.media package JavaDoc too.
    Thanks
    Arno

Like I told you in the other thread com.sun packages are not fully supported, technically the could be considered "betas" and are only included to aid developers. Because they are no supported no javadocs exist for them at this time. Like I said you are just going to have downlad the source code and do alot of poking around. From what I can tell, however, the com.sun.media.rtsp package intergrates seemlessly with JMF.

I've developed an applet that uses javax.media.jai. API. When it's compiled and ran through Microsoft's IIS and from the command line it works fine. how can you use iMessage between 3 iPads with 3 different users but only one Apple ID?

No you do not need separate Apple ID's in order to use 3 devices with one Apple ID. I use 4 devices to Message and FaceTime and all use the same Apple ID. You do need to add additional email addresses for the other devices.
Look at this very informative video for the instructions.

  • How do you use the bluetooth VIs with a Microsoft Bluetooth Driver?

How do you use the LabVIEW Bluetooth VIs with the Microsoft Bluetooth driver?  I have been trying with no such luck.
I want to use 2 computers to talk to each other using the bluetooth VIs.  Eventually, I think we would like a PDA/phone to talk to a custom built electronics board with Bluetooth.  But for now, I would just like 2 computers to talk and then eventually talk to our own device.
One is a desktop w/ the Belkin F8T012 USB adapter.  It installs fine with the Belkin driver (but I know I need to use the Microsoft Driver in order to use the LabVIEW VIs, but I have tried to get Windows to install its own but it says it is a BCM92045DG-Flash.  It says it cannot install it because it cannot find the necessary hardware.  I thought this USB adapter was on the approved Bluetooth devices list?  What else should I try?  Another Bluetooth USB adapter?
The other computer is a Dell Latitude 820.  It has a built in Bluetooth module which I believe is the Dell 350 Bluetooth Module.  On this machine I have been able to setup a COM port with a bluetooth device (blood glucose meter).  It came with a serial port interface which we modifed to go through a bluetooth interface.  It comes up as COM40. We have been able to communicate to it using their program originally designed to talk through a serial port.  But we would like to use the Bluetooth VIs in LabVIEW.  I can't even use the Discover VI.  Perhaps it is not using the Microsoft Driver as well.  Do I just uninstall the driver and then try to have Windows install its own driver?  Do you have any other recommendations?
    Thanks,
       Javi

    Hi Javi,
This sounds like an issue with Windows and your specific Bluetooth devices.  As you mentioned, the LV Bluetooth VI's do require that the devices use the Windows drivers.  Take a look at this link for specific requirements for using Bluetooth with LabVIEW.  Also, you can take a look at our Developer Zone tutorial on designing Bluetooth applications a found here.  Regarding your device drivers, sometimes it is as easy as uninstalling the driver and then letting Windows discover the device and fine its own driver.  You could check out the Microsoft Knowledgebase for more information.  Thanks and have a great day!
