How I fixed my iTunes 7 / Nano 1.2 problem.

Like so many of you, I too lost the ability to connect my 4gb Nano to my iTunes when I upgraded to v7. Of course, Apple hasn't figured this out yet, but several here have.
Here is how I fixed mine. Once you connect the Nano (after the firmware upgrade), iTunes 7 reports it as corrupt and in need of a restore. The problem is that it won't. Try the following to fix the problem:
(note: this will reset your Nano entirely, and you WILL lose any music which is loaded on it. You will not lose whatever you have in iTunes).
1. Unplug the Nano USB cable and perform a reset on the Nano.
2. Restart your computer to ensure all services are running correctly.
3. Once restarted, open My Computer and plug in your Nano. Wait until it show's up as a disk drive (this can take several minutes).
4. Right-click on the drive which represents the Nano and wait again (up to several minutes) for the menu to pop up.
5. Select Format and (you guessed it) wait for the format utility to appear.
6. Make sure the File System is set to FAT32 then click Start. Do not click Quick Format. Wait some more (up to ten minutes. You'll see the progress bar move after a while).
7. Once finished, the Nano should now be recognized by iTunes. If it isn't, unplug it, wait a minute and replug it.
BTW, this retains the 1.2 firmware. I think the 1.2 firmware is incompatible with the data which written by previous versions. The format clears this data out.

I was having trouble seeing my Nano 2nd in iTunes and was afraid to do this step; but it works. My Nano was updated to version 1.1.1 and now everything seems to work perfectly. Keep in mind you will lose everything that is stored on your Nano when you format it.

I noticed that the only option that worked for me was Windows 2000 and that the others (Windows 98/ME, Windows 95, and Windows NT) did not work. This leads me to believe that with more and more updates coming, sooner or later Windows 2000 will be obsolete to the iTunes software.
I know a lot of people who prefer Windows 98 and 2000 over XP because of modibility and hacking ability. So for Windows to essentially throw 98 out the window and not care to make iTunes compatible with it is pretty stupid. I highly doubt those Win98 users want to shell out about $100 to upgrade just to use a free program.
Just another piece of evidence in my theory that Apple is fading out Windows to coax people into buying more Macs.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to fix my iTunes. When I tried to update to the latest version (1114) a window popped up saying R6034 C runtime library incorrectly installed. Then another window popped up saying that iTunes was installed incorrectly Error 7 (windows error 1114). Hope you can help.

Solved the issue without using the trash . I tried to consolidate the library in LACIE, then clicked on any exclamation-mark song and tried to locate the file. Repeating those steps 3 or 4 times cleared it up. That was confirmed when I synced the entire library on a iPod Classic, and showed up no problems after syncing the Nano.
What went wrong was perhaps to fail to consolidate the library at first .

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...

for some reason when itunes first installs a new version, it opens up to the iTunes Store. Since you don't have net connection, its going to error out.
But the fact that you can't see any of the other items, I would recommend redownloading iTunes (and Quicktime to be sure) and reinstalling it and see if that helps.
Just for the record, can you click on the Library icon?

How I fixed my 5g's 1.2 'problem'

Ok folks, no rocket science here, but I have been given all sorts of weird and wonderful advice this week about how to fix my 'sounds awful since the 1.2 update' 5G 60GB Ipod, everything from use ipodwizard, it's a hardware fault, to check your fung shieu man,
I've just done this fix and my ipod does everything it used to before 1.2 broke it.
1. Using windows add/remove programs I removed Itunes 7.1
2. I then downloaded Itunes 6.0.5.2 and installed it (it wont run after as your library was saved using itunes 7, so dont bother trying)
3. Then I downloaded / installed / ran Ipod updater 2006-06-28. When it conects to your ipod it will say software is upto date and so install button is greyed out , click restore instead.
4 The ipod will now be left with the old firmware on it (hurrah).
5. Now download and install the new Itunes 7.1 again.
6. When it prompts you to update the firmware on your ipod shout very loudly 'You have got to be b-l-o-o-d-y kidding' and DONT update it.
7. uncheck manage music manually, uncheck disk use, click apply and your ipod will fill its little self back up.
8. NEVER EVER UPDATE THE FIRMWARE again
9. BUY MS's Zunes player ASAP, especially if you have a 360

The only way to go back to the old software has been described for you. It is not officially sanctioned by Apple. They do not provide a way to go back to former software. There is not currently a fix in iTunes, as the only thing iTunes does is provide a conduit for you to update firmware.
As provided before, Apple is addressing the issues with 3G and 3GS phones running slow with iOS4. According to developers with access to the iOS4.1 beta, it has been addressed there. You will have to either try the Genius bar as suggested, and I understand the distance issue, or you will have to wait for iOS4.1 to be released. If a restore as a new phone and a DFU restore do not work, then I'm not aware of any other alternative except what was provided above.
Edit: You might try and delete the iOS that you have on the computer and let iTunes download a brand new one. That might help.

How to fix 10.4.6 network permissions problems

Here is how to fix it problems with 10.4.6 and network permissions. It isn't a permission problem, per se, but rather the fact that 10.4.6's network permissions improvements also cause it to respect the Locked file flag. You could manually unlock files and folders, but for most people that is impractical. It will be much faster if you run this from the server (find/install the appropriate version of the developer tools - Tiger version of Xcode will not run on Panther - on a client machine and copy /Developer/Tools/SetFile on to the server). Also, I would try the first one first and only do the second if you are still having trouble.
For changing directories, run this from the command line, filling in the path to your network volume (any spaces will require you to enclose the path in quotes):
find [path to network volume] -type d -exec /Developer/Tools/SetFile -a l {} ';'
For example,
find "/Volumes/Network Share" -type d -exec /Developer/Tools/SetFile -a l {} ';'
If you are having trouble with files as well, execute:
find [path to network volume] -exec /Developer/Tools/SetFile -a l {} ';'

everytime I login the the network volumn? Then next time when I login to the network server, the server will not be locked. Or I have to run this everytime?

How i fixed my Itunes sound (windows)

I along with many members of this forum have been having serious sound issues. I have somehow managed to fix it tonight, as well at quicktime playing the distorted green videos. I did 3 things, and i dont know which 1 did it, but i encourage everyone to try all 3.
1) Reinstall your sound drivers (I have an Audigy 2 ZS)
2)Open quicktime settings and click advanced at the top, then click "empty cache" and check the box saying "enable playback of flash tracks"
3)Redownload DirectX9 and run it. When you open it, it will almost instantaneously say completed, but do it anyways. Reboot the computer and try

How I fixed my iTunes 7.5 issues on my iBook G4

My iTunes did not work right after installing 7.5. It showed broken links instead of pictures in the iTunes store and did not show scroll bars. After a few days of trying to install older versions without success I finally tried found the fix which might have already been posted but I never found it after looking through a ton of posts. All I did was to reinstall Quick Time but I choose the one special for Panther 10.3.9. This fixed it all and 7.5 works finally.
