Does anyone know how many passes the java compiler uses?

Parser Tree builder pass..... Type Check on the way back up the tree..... generate code..... Maybe? I can't find it anywhere.... I'll tell you tomorrow though... I'll go ask DL... I bet it's different for the pre Java2 compiler also, as the Java2 compiler is completely new... Did you notice all the great error messages went away with Java2 compilers? now they just all say "can't resolve symbol"...

Secure empty trash: How many passes?

When performing a +Secure Empty Trash+ I presume the deleted files are zeroed out, much like when using the +Erase Free Space+ function in the Disk Utility. My question is, if this is indeed the case, how many passes are performed during a +Secure Empty Trash+?

Way too many. I believe it's seven passes. Don't use it if you are deleting a large number of files because it could literally take days to complete.
Unless you work for an employer that mandates such security I wouldn't suggest using it. If it needs to be securely erased, then it needs to be encrypted. If it's encrypted then there really isn't a need to use the secure erase option.

How many passes on mem86+?

Been working on getting this system stable for several days. Haven't tried to stress it, just turn it on and let it idle. I'll go to bed with it turned on and get up in the morning and it's turned off. This morning, I turned it on and it turned off in about an hour. I turned it back on and it has been running for about 8 hours. Thanks to the forum, I haven't lost my sanity, yet! I've made several suggested changes:
1. disabled spread spectrum
2. stepped down to HT4
3. disabled AGP FastWrites
4. disabled system bios cacheable
5. turned off Cool'N Quiet and WinXP Power Management Features (for the time being, hope to eliminate them as part of prob)
Here's some Q's:
Presently, I'm running mem86+ and it has made 5 passes w/o errors. How many passes should it make before I can be satisfied with the report of no errors? Even if it reports no errors, could there be probs with the memory. If yes, are there any free downloads to further test the system?
What's the best vCore for the AMD64 3500+, if not OCing?
Appreciate the support and advice. Afraid this won't be my last request for answers. One thing leads to another....

Just sat and watched for awhile. Readings dipped to 11.85 once, but never exceeded 12.28. It fluctuated between the 5 scores for the whole time.
Voltages seem ok.
But the stated current ratings are definately PEAK since working out the total combined power = 728.7
Dividing Peak by 1.41 (square root of 2) gives RMS value which is what PSU's should quote.

Ideally you shouldnt get any errors on memtest . Can you remove and fully disconnect all devices. Just leave the floppy drive connected if your using a memtest boot disk and see if you get any errors.

If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. I have forgotten my restrictions pass code on my ipad 2. I've made 20 attempts to remember. How many more will I get? There is no way I'm wiping it. It's is just ridiculous. Why can't they find a way to re-set it for you!?!

I'm certain I have actually entered the password I chose as I have only 3 that I ever use. I have now tried 20 times and not guessed it. I did not realise that restricting adult content would mean I can't use any apps that use adult content occasionally, e.g I assumed I would still be able to use BBC iPlayer but that it would not be possible for my daughter or anyone else to access programmes of an adult content. Wrong. It stops you from using the app at all just because some programmes have that content. In true Apple style there was no warning of this beforehand. Just as there was no warning before I set the passcode that if I forgot it, I'd have to wipe the device. I'm getting pretty fed up with Apple all told. When I my first iPhone fell into a drain it took 3 hour long calls from London to California just to get my photos back on the phone when they should have been there automatically. It then took 10 months to recover the music which should have again been there automatically.
Please, does anybody know how many times I can try guessing the passcode before something awful happens, like it wipes the content anyway? I only really use the iPad to watch tv and now I can't even do that! My apple devices have caused me nothing but woe. The whole system is so unbelievably un-user friendly.

Thanks for that. Much more constructive than the last comment. It's only the restriction code I can't recall, not the access passcode. So I can currently access the device, just not age restricted content. Does that's make a difference? I also wondered if anyone knew how many attempts you get to try to get it right. Now tried 21 times and so far nothing bad has happened but I am concerned I'll eventually be completely locked out of the device. That doesn't seem in the spirit of things though. Surely it's foreseeable that a child could repeatedly try to guess the code so I can't see that it would be right to lock the device down completely in that circumstance, particularly if the access code is being typed in correctly every time.

Basically what the values of 50,000 and 130000 connections indicate are lab values tested with 80% TCP and 20% udp traffic. (according to table a-2 in the doc below)

RTP is udp traffic but in case of an asa and considering a customer scenario what happens is...
1 voip call = 1 control connection (h323,sip,sccp) + 2 or 4 rtp connections
-so a call will in total easily consume 5 or more connections depending on control connections you have set up .
-also this number differs depending on if the call is voice only or video.
So to simply answer your questions...
1>the number of connections that a call consumes depends on the above factors.
2>Also there is no hard number on the number of calls an asa can handle because this depends on the controls you use ...including nat and inspections.

How to know how many rows including headers and footers does subreport has from Main Report

Hi, we are sturuggling with subreports. Main report has 3 subreports, each subreport is inplmented in a group header(3 subreports and 3 group headers). We would like to print a group header under subreport as a column header every page, and need a page break when group number is changed. This report exports a MS Excel(97-2003) report file.
In main report, [New After Page] is checked under Group Header #1d from [Section Expert]
In each subreport, [Repeat Group Header On Each Page] is checked under the highest group from [Group Expert]
Here are two issues;
Since Crystal Reports has more rows than Excel in one page, colmun header in each subreport is being printed in the middle of the page. It should be printed at the top of the page
When Subreport has many rows and has to be printed in more than 1 page, a page break is automatically inserted before column header. It should be printed right below column header which is Group Header #1
We have been trying to pass row counts(count of group header because group header is used as the details) using a shared variable from Subreport 1 to Subreport 2 via main report since Subreport2 cannot predict how many rows Subreport 1 has.
Here is what we are trying but we are getting an error which is "A constant expression is required here" under main report
- In Sunreport 1

shared numbervar SubGroupCount := DistinctCount({Table.Field});
- In Mainreport

Last question first, since that is the easy one......approximately 50 (fifty) users for wireless depending on how active each user might be.
The first question is much more difficult, as distance is not really the issue with wireless.....obstructions are the issue.
A wireless signal can easily travel 300 feet or more with no obstructions in the signal path.
But, a typical wall of sheetrock or wallboard in a home will absorb....on average....15-20% of the wireless signal. Brick or adobe will obviously absorb much more. A ceiling....because it is thicker....will absorb about 25-35% of the signal.
So, if the wireless signal must pass through several walls and a ceiling, there won't be much, if any, of the signal left....even though the distance that the signal travels is not great...for example, 20-25 feet.
Other wireless networks around you at the neighbors can also affect the relative strength of the wireless signal.
The bottom line....locate the AirPort Extreme where wireless devices will receive a signal with the least amount of obstructions in the signal path. Your actual performance cannot be predicted in advance. You will not know how well the AirPort Extreme works for you until you try it out in your home.
If you find that the signal does not reach as far as needed, you will need to add additional "extenders", like an AirPort Express to provide more signal coverage.

How many users can we create in an oracle database? Or how many users can oracle handle?
Problem-
I have to store information of ontologies (I will use countries instead) in db.
I have to store information regarding countries.
I have 13 tables in all to maintain for each country.
Now there are two approaches:
1) keep only 13 tables. Have an extra column in each table to indicate that a particular
row stores information for which country.
2) create a new user/ schema for each country. So we can get rid of the extra column
needed in 1st approach.
I have used the second approach. This is because number of entries in each table for a
given country will be large.
So initially when the s/w is installed I create a central-user. Each time data for new
country has to be entered central-user creates a user/ schema, and creates tables for
this user/ schema. The central user can access the tables of all the countries by
country_name.table_name. By this approach I believe searching would be easy.
If there is any flaw in my approach kindly mention it.

There is no (practical at least) limit to the number of users & schemas you can have in Oracle.
Your approach, however, is not going to scale nearly as well as the first option you outlined (adding a column). You are going to end up caching every possible variation of the various queries you're going to be executing because you will be referring to so many different tables, which is going to mean that you are doing a lot more work to parsing statements and generally churning through the shared pool. If you create enough users, you're liable to start hitting ORA-04030 errors because your shared pool is so fragmented.
Additionally, you're likely going to end up with a whole lot of dynamically generated SQL to accommodate new schemas getting added over time which is going to cause you even more pain. Figuring out dynamically what table to join in is a heck of a lot more difficult for the programmer to write and for the database to handle than simply passing in a different country code.
If you're concerned about having too much data, you can have your cake and eat it to by adding the country column and partitioning the tables based on country.

One other item I forgot to mention is maintainability. Having dozens or hundreds of "identical" schemas makes maintenance a huge pain because something like adding a new column now requires dozens or hundreds of separate DDL statements. You're almost guaranteed that some schema isn't going to be in sync-- it's going to miss a column or miss an index, etc.

1> Have a servlet/bean invoked when the link is linked
2> have a static variable in that servlet/bean wich gets incremented before the control is passed to another desired page..
The problem with this approach is that care has to be taken that the servlet/bean is not re-instalised, in case of which the static variable will also be instalised and the data would be lost.
The best thing is to store the count in the database.

Hi guys. here is the problem:
A page is displayed and it contains a table with about 20 rows and 2 columns. Each cell of the Table contains a TextField. The user has to enter data into these TextFields.
How to i pass this 20 X 2 data to a servlet.
Adding to the trouble.. the number of rows is not fixed. and depends on how many rows of data the user wishes to enter.
A common example would be the line items in an ordering system.
Any ideas guys??

If i click GO button on search page then it pass the selected Poplists values as a Bound values to VO Sql query at runtime after this I store the search results in a Table(Which is created by using New Region Wizard).
I want to pass the Bind parameter values to VO SQL query during runtime and :1,:2,:3,:4,:5,:6,:7 values are coming from Poplists.
I search through forum I found many threads regarding Bind Values but those all are passing ID's only not String(Varchar) values.
How to pass the Character values to VO Query.
Please anyone help me on this.
