How SAP stores ALVs in Excel

I would like to know witch critheria makes SAP to export an ALV grid to Excel file. When I use the standar ALB button, the order of the columns is the same that in the ALV. But when I go to Menu -> List -> Export -> To excel, the excel file generated has all the ammount and quantity data in the finals columns in white color and the rest of columns are in yellow in the first columns.
My problem is that I need each quantity or amount with its corresponding unit next the value.

When you do an Export to Excel from ALV - The logic is with reference to your current field catalog ( order of columns, hidden/displayed layout settings etc) the DATA table is passed to the Excel. ALV calls a function module ALV_XXL_CALL for doing it.
On the contrary, when you do an Export to Excel for a list - its a very generic thing. The entire list is taken on to an internal table and passed to a File. The file is stored in ur presentation server( ur desktop) and Excel application opens this file.
So bottom line is in the first case SAP calls excel application then passes the data and in the second case it passes the data then calls the Excel to open the file.
Now coming back to ur requirement - You want all your units to come after your amount fields - you can create a layout in ALV ( in case you are operating from ALV) and if it is a list then also u ll have to do the same thing.

How to download alv to excel but translate char to number ?

i have alv report that the user want to download the
result to excel , ok you have two ways :
1) excel inplace , its work good but in big amount of
data the option is working slow and the user
dont want to use it .
2) download it as local file , the problem is that
the fields that contain the amount is char format
due to using dynamic columnes,
so how can i convert the field that it will be download
to excel as number ?
i tried to change the fieldcatalog to :
LS_FCAT-DATATYPE = 'QUAN'.
LS_FCAT-INTTYPE = 'P' .
but its not help .

hi dakota,
you could make your own download-routine.
before downloading you move the data in an internal table where all fields have the wanted format.
then download it with function module "GUI_DOWNLOAD" name the file ".xls" and use filetype "DBF".
this way you get an excel with formatted rows as you like.

Any body can guide me how to download records from ALV output to Excel,i have tried to downlowad using the Excel button which is coming as default in ALV display, but when i m clicking that Excel button ,i m getting the empty sheet with out data, what should i do?

Hello Raja,
The standard icon should work!! Which icon are you using? there's one with the tool-tip text Export. That is the one to be used.
If you are still not able to get that, then display the grid as a list and then use the standard menu option System>List>Save-->Local File.

How to store multiple files from SAp in to Application server?

 Can anybody tell me how to store multiple files from SAP into Application server.in my application i have to get the data from SAP tables BSEG , BKPF , BSAK and BSIK that to daily i have to do.

Hi,
directories creates basis. If you have task to store data in application server you already should have information into which folder you have to do it. If you don't have this information because it is just for example training for next task then you can use your personal folder into which you have access. To get list of all available folders please look at attached code and form get_directories (you get the list of folders you see in transaction AL11). But don't forget: If you are using open dataset you have to have rights to access application folder!

I need an example on how to store an Excel file within InfoPath 2010 so that every time a user opens the InfoPath form they can make changes and can save as part of the form. The next user opens the form and another Excel files (blank) where they make changes and

Streamlining this would require a bit of custom work I imagine. However if you don't mind giving the users some extra clicks, there are probably a few ways to get the job done.
You could upload the excel file to SharePoint, make sure it's read-only and link to it within the InfoPath form. Then the process would be that users open the InfoPath form, fill it out, download the excel doc to their desktops and fill it out, and then
attach it to the IP form.
Or you could set up a separate, sister library where the New Item defaults to your Excel template. Then from within the InfoPath form you could have a hyperlink that creates the new item, saving it to the library. The caveat here is finding a way to link
to the two items together with a unique identifier. The benefit though is being able to browse and interact with Excel docs independent of the forms they are attached to, if necessary.

How to store a Excel document using Webdynpro

Hi Folks,
I need a Web application, where user will have an option of uploading an Excel file. Then the application should store this file in application server in Excel format.
Then I need another web application where, I will display a tabular structure with two date column and third column showing as a link to the file. Also this second application will have an option to save the file on desktop. I need a button to pass the data in this file to another program.
Technical issues:
I know how to read data from an excel by using Upload UI element. But how can I store the file on application server in excel format. And then how can I read the Excel file in such way that, I can show a link of this Excel file in a tabular structure displayed on a Webdynpro application.
Please provide your valuable inputs on this technical issue.

I have an requirement to attach an excel file in mail while sending from SAP ABAP. This excel file is a formatted one and its having a proper template which is stored in wwwdata table in sap. My program will pick the file with no changes in format from presentation server i.e. my desktop and will be sent to external email-ids .
I have searched in scn but couldn't get a proper answer which will send the .xls file as attachment with no changes in format of template and data of excel.
Please suggest the approaches how to handle this one.

This is the current outcome. I totally understand that SAP PI communicates via XML. So when PI picks up a file that contains XML tags, the Inbound proxy is triggered. I can see its processing in SM50. However, when I give the Sender FTP adapter a non-XML file to pick up, the Inbound Proxy does not trigger. The file itself should be read into memory so that I can save it to the application server via ABAP code (with no mapping). That is why there is no operation mapping
The reason I am using using FTP to ABAP proxy is because I need to call a subsequent RFC step to process the file. Else, I will just use FTP to File Adapter scenario.
Question 1: I am thinking that that file is the attachment. Is that where I am incorrect and I still need to send in an XML file with the attachment as an addition?
Question 2: Is this the best approach or should I use BPM? If BPM, what steps do I need?
