How sap trigger alternative bom ?

Hi Experts,
We need setup alternative BOM, like Part A is used up, then it could use another BOM with part B.
But if we setup new BOM as alternative BOM, do we need use produciton version, then it could trigger out differnt BOM?How SAP could trigger the different BOM or production version ?   Could it by MRP?
Thanks
Alice

Hi,
For BOM Alternative Selection you need to maintain any of the following settings in Material Master --->
MRP-4 View->BOM Explosion / Dependent Requirements->Selection Method :
Method for Selecting Alternative Bills of Material
Indicator determining the selection of the alternative BOM when requirements are exploded in material requirements planning.
Use
With Selection by order quantity, the system chooses the alternative BOM into whose lot size range the order quantity falls. The lot size range and area of validity of the BOM apply.
With Selection by explosion date, the system chooses the alternative BOM into whose area of validity the date falls according to the setting BOM via dates.
With Selection by production version, the system chooses the alternative BOM defined in the valid production version. The lot size range and area of validity of the production version apply.
With Selection only by production version, the system chooses the alternative BOM defined in the valid production version. The lot size range and area of validity of the production version apply.
If no production version is found, no production orders or process orders can be created.
Hope this helps.
Revert if any doubt.

  • How to create Alternative Bom by given inputs

    Hi to all,
I need to create BOM with alternative number.
    my inputs are
    BOM Header
Material, plant, BOM usage, Alternate BOM, BOM status, Base Qty, Valid From, valid to
    BOM Item
Item number, item category, component, component description, UOM, valid from, valid to, item ID, QTY
if i use CSAP_MAT_BOM_CREATE to create BOM , it will not create alternative number
if i use BAPI_MATERIAL_BOM_GROUP_CREATE , does my input value are enough to create alternative bom.
please can any one, put some light on it, i search SDN ,but i dont know how to create alternative bom with input provided.

  • Alternative BOM creation problem in CS01

    Hi.
I have created a BOM with CS01 with list of components. Now i want to create an alternative BOM for the same FG.
When I am trying to create alternative BOM using CS01, I added the components, system is showing me in the header as Alternative BOM 2. But when i try to save this BOM system is giving me the error as "Alternative BOM cannot be created for this material".
Can you please help me how to create alternative BOM for this FG.
    Regards,
    Padmavathi

    Dear Padma,
If my understanding is correct,if the check box for multiple BOM inactive is set in OS27 means, you will not be allowed to even
enter into the BOM item maintenance screen.
It seems the system is allowing you to enter the second alternative BOM,but at the time of save the system is blocking from
doing so.check what's the message and check whether by means of exit this check has been incorporated in the system.
    Check and revert back.

  • How to transfer sales bom from SAP R/3 to APO?

    Hi Experts,
I just want to ask how to transfer sales bom from R/3 to APO? if i change my bom usage to 5 and use this BOM in my Production version be enough to send it to APO?
Also, this is my first time using sales bom, could you please help me understand how sales bom work in APO planning?
    Thanks so much.
    Mylene

    Hi Senthil,
Thanks again for your reply. I was trying to CIF sales BOM in APO but only the header material are being created in APO. The component are not added in PDS. This is how I create it in SAP R/3:
    1. transaction cs01 -->  enter header material, plant and BOM USAGE =5
    2. inside cs01, i entered components, quantity for each components and ITEM category = L (stock item)
i also eneterd base quantity for header material
    3. create production version for header material with routing and this BOM
    4. create and activate material CIF model for header and components
    5. create and activate PDS CIF model for header and components.
After doing all these steps, PDS is created in APO but I only have the header material (no components)
I tried changing BOM to other bom usage and components were populated in PDS.
Am i missing nay steps?  Thanks.

  • How to Trigger an IDOC from SAP R/3 to two systems at a time

    Hi experts,
Can any one please tell me How to Trigger an IDOC from SAP R/3 to two XI systems at a time.
My current production R/3 system sends a DELVRY03 IDOC to Production XI system ( Name : XIP) .
I would like to route the same IDOC from production R/3 system to my Quality XI System ( Name XIQ) .
Problem is production R/3 system triggers an IDOC once. We need to write a logic to route the same to two different systems
Can any one tell me how can we do that ?
    Regards
    Ram.

    Hello Ram,
Do you have connectivity between your production & XIQ?
    What does "connectivity" mean?
    1. RFC destination is maintained.
    2. Port defined for the RFC destination.
If no, create these. (Search in SDN for details).
    If yes, proceed:
    1. Define the logical system for XIQ.(BD54)
    2. Define the same as your partner profile. (WE20). Add the message type SYNCH with the port for XIQ.(This is imp)
    3. Create a distribution model view with sender as "your production" & receiver as XIQ.
3.1. Add the messages which you want to distribute.
    3.2 Generate Partner profiles.
No coding is reqd. for this.

  • How to trigger IDOC'S from SAP

    Hi All,
How to trigger IDOC's from SAP(ECC 6)..where can we check this in mii 11.5 weather it is fail/success
    Thanks,
    Abhi

You can trigger LOIPRO, LOIPLO and a few others manually from POIT (SAP Txn).  Master Data related to orders can be triggered from POIM.  Depending on which IDocs you which to generate, there are other transactions to trigger different IDocs.
You can also use Triggers from MII to generate IDocs in SAP using CLOI_DOWNLOAD_TRIGGER_MDAT (POIM equivalent) and CLOI_DOWNLOAD_TRIGGER_TRANS (POIT equivalent).
There is also a rather nice post which detailed the process of using change pointers to automate the IDoc generation and download, but I am having trouble finding it.  Will continue to look and will post link when I find it.
    Regards,
    Mike

  • How to maintain alternative material in a BOM for a component.

how to maintain alternative material in a BOM for a component.if stock for existing bom component is less then it should consider other alternative material in the same BOM

    HI,
    You can maintain alternate material for BOM Component by specifying Alternate Item group as below;
Go to CS03/CS02--> Items-> Select Component and go to details->Basic Data Tab--> General Data
Pls. find more details about Alternate Item group maintainance as below:
    Alternative item: group
Consolidation of alternative items within a BOM. Every material in the assembly can be included in the alternative item group.
    Use
As soon as you enter an alternative item group, you see an additional dialog box with the following data: ranking order, strategy, usage probability.
You can maintain alternative items in the following situations:
Alternative positions with specific usage probability
These alternative items are incorporated with a specific usage probability. Enter the usage probability for each alternative item in the group, so that:
dependent requirements are determined in requirements planning
dependent requirements are changed to a reservation in the production order
    Alternative positions as information
You can enter an alternative item for information purposes. This item would then, for example, only be taken into account in situations involving missing parts.
As there should be neither dependent requirements nor a reservation for this item, enter no usage probability.
    Procedure
Enter the same character string to denote the alternative items of an alternative item group.
Enter the same strategy for all alternative items in the alternative item group.
    Dependencies
Alternative items are valuated in the following way:
    Dependent requirements determination
Requirements planning determines the dependent requirements according to the usage probabilities that have been entered.
If the usage probability is 0%, then no procurement is planned for the item. For information purposes, however, dependent requirements with 0 as quantity are created.
    Withdrawal posting
You can control the withdrawal posting for the resevation in the production order in the following way:
Withdrawal according to usage probability (manual change is possible)
Withdrawal if there is 100% availability
    (Check ranking order and strategy)
Example: See Strategy for alternative position
Further you can also maintain alternate material if you want to stop using this material at certain time as below:
In material master of the material ,
Go to MRP-4 View----> Under Discongtinued parts specify
    Discontinuation Indicator
    Eff-out.
    Follow-up matl
So system will automatically consider follow up material in BOM as per the settings you have maintained for the material to be replaced.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I select alternative BOM when creating subcontract purchase order?

In our business, a finish good material always has different production versions at the same time. Each of production versions has its own alternative BOM. When I create a planned order, I can select wanted BOM through specifying production version.
But, when I creating subcontract purchase order, there is no field for me to specify the production version or which alternative BOM I prefer. In this case, I need to create a planned order at first. And then, convert the planned order to purchase. Only through this way, I can create a subcontract purchase order with my wanted BOM.
So, I wonder if there is any way to select alternative BOM directly when creating subcontract purchase order.
    Thanks a lot!
    Regards
    Robbie

    Dear Mr. MM
can you give me additional information about your solution?
BUT I would not expect the sytem to offer you during the Purchasing cycle the different Production Versions as it is not meant to be. I remember having the same requirement some time ago and we solved it the way I described above, additionally we created a Pop up window with a user exit during the PO creation which offered the different production versions and if the one linked with the quota arrangement, the standard PV, is used in the PO.
We also have the same problem, we activated businessfunction SCM_GEN_02 so that it is possible to have several production versions for one supplier, but unfortunatly it is not possible to change the production version in the purchase order. (business function does not seem to be very integrated)
So i would be very interested in your solution because acually it seems that i have to modify the sap standard.
    Thank you and best regards

  • How to create  an alternative bom for the same product

    Hi expert,
I want to know how to create an alternative bom for the same product. Can i use the different bom usage to create or use the same bom usage? In addition, how can i use the production version to link the alternative bom for the same product?
Please help me solve the problem.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    George shi

    HI
you can go with t-code CS01
if you have the BOM already and you want to create the alternative BOM then just goto create BOM
and enter the material and plant and uasge system will auto matically prapose the next numner ie, if you have Alt BOM1
then next system will prappose 2.
then you can enter the components as per you requirement
if you go to different BOM usage then sytem will not go for alternative BOM it gives again alt bom 1.
prodcution version you need to craet from mateial master
each version you can go woith alternative BOMS
Version 1 will have alt BOM1
Version 2 can haev ALT BOM2

  • Critical Issue: Availabilty check & alternative BOM selction issue

During the upgradation project I'm working facing the following critical issues:
1)While creating the sales order, system carries out the availability check in APO.In material master checking group Z5 is defined.
Actually I want to know hw the system carries out the search in APO & what are the settings in R/3 or APO we have to make?
2)Suppose there are 3 alternative BOM's of a finished product.A requirement is while creating the sales order availabilty check should be carried out & system should check the availability of components on the required date.If the component is not avalable system should go & check the second alternative...third alternative until it gets the confirmation of component availability.
How we can set this functionality & what are the prerequisites or customisation settings we needs to make?
Would appreciate providing your inputs on this critical issue.
    Thanks,
    Nilesh<b></b>

Before you understand how the APO Availability Checking concept works, I would suggest you understand about the regular R3 availability checking. As this is the core for the SD and APO GATP. Refer help.sap.com
    Question 1:
<b>Settings in R3:</b> You have the ATP integration model in CFM1 transaction. You need to activate this just one time and never again. what this does is basically transfer all your availability checking customizing to APO.
All the settings for the Availability Checking group ( Z5, etc) are already maintained in R3 and they get transferred to APO by the integration model. You donot need to anything else.
    <b>Settings in APO:</b>
If you are using <b>Product Allocation Concept</b>, You have to maintain the Check Instructions.... Otherwise there are no other settings in APO
    <b>Availability Check in APO :</b>
( see the following blog for the requirements class( Name in R3) or check mode( Name in APO) determination http://solution-timezone-issue.blogspot.com/ )
The check mode and the business event( These are hardcode internally in R3 - For SD- A) are determined from the order and based on this in APO it follows the following order
    (1) Reads the check instructions settings in APO
For example say the following have been determined from the SD Order : Check Mode 041 and  Business Event A
Say we have maintained in APO that the first step is Availability Check and all the other two steps we havent maintained or left blank ( Product Allocation and Forecast)
Look for the customizing in APO
    SPRO>APO>GATP>General Settings>Maintain Check Instructions ****
    (2) Carries out availability Checking same as in R3 and no different
From the masterial master considers the availability checking group ( Ex: Z1) and the business event( SD transactions- A)
Very Important and the core of availability checking which is similar in R3 and APO***
Against these 2 combinations, the settings are checked which define what stock and in/outward movements are to be considered during the availability check
    For customzing settings in APO
    SPRO>APO>GATP>Maintain Check Control>
       For Customizing in R3
SPRO>Sales and Distribution>Basic Functions>Availability Check and transfer of requirements>Availability check with ATP logic or planning>Carry out control for availability check
This is the answer to your first question.
Your second question would need some time  and I will try to answer it as well.
    Hope this helps you..

  • How to trigger creation of collective orders

    Hi,
How to trigger the creation of Collective orders.
    regards

    Hi,
    Collective Orders
    Use
In a collective order, planned orders or production orders are linked to one another over several production levels. Each order in the collective order has its own order number. If subassemblies are produced directly for superior orders within a production process, without physically entering the warehouse, it is useful to have a representation via collective orders.
The components for which separate production orders are created in the collective order are called directly produced components (see Creating Collective Orders)
    Prerequisites
A collective order cannot be created for components that have one of the following indicators set:
    · Co-product
    · By-product
    · Alternative item with strategy 2
    · Alternative item with usage probability 0
    · Discontinued
    · Follow-up material
    · Intra material
    Features
Collective orders offer the following advantages:
    · Integrated view of a production process
Collective orders make it possible to represent different levels of the production process together in the system. The production process can be viewed as an integrated whole.
    · Separate order number for every order
Every level in a collective order represents a separate production order/planned order. Every production order/planned order has its own order number. This enables you to process the entire collective order, a subtree in the collective order or an individual order.
    · No placements in storage or removals from storage between production levels
Within a collective order stock movements only take place for the leading order (that is, the order that is at the highest production level) and not for directly produced components. This makes it easier to maintain the collective order in comparison with several individual orders. A further advantage is a more realistic representation of the costs of the production process, since subordinate orders can be directly assigned and settled to superior orders.
    · Business functions simultaneously for several orders
Certain business transactions can be carried out simultaneously for several orders. Releasing an order that belongs to a collective order has the effect that all the hierarchically subordinate orders are released simultaneously.
    · Automatic change to dependent orders
Changes to an order automatically affect dependent orders / components affecting orders. For example, if you change the order quantity in an order then
¡ the relevant quantity changes are automatically made to dependent orders
¡ the requirements quantity of the directly produced component is automatically changed.
In the collective order, you also have the option of manufacturing directly produced material in a different plant to the planning plant.
    · Set status in leading order
If you make changes in subordinate orders that have an affect on the status, then the system sets the corresponding status in the order header of the leading order in the collective order as follows:
u2013 CFCO Confirmation in collective order
u2013 GMCO Goods movements in collective order
u2013 RLNE Release taken place in network
In this way you are informed about changes in the whole collective order.
    · Reading master data
You can copy the routing data and BOM data to the order again. You can find more information in Read master data.
    Example
You want to produce a pump. The BOM for the pump contains a pressure regulating valve and a spiral casing. You want to enter these two components in separate production orders, but you do not want them to be posted to stock.
You set the special procurement type to direct production in the material master record for the pressure regulating valve and the spiral casing, so that production occurs using a collective order.
When you create a production order for the pump, a collective order is automatically created, which contains subordinate production orders for the pressure regulating valve and the spiral casing.
    Creation of Collective Orders
    Use
Collective orders are only created if the special procurement type is set to direct production in the components for which the separate production orders are to be created (materials planning area in the material master).
In the standard system, 52 is the special procurement type for direct production (that is, for components that are produced within a collective order).
To create a collective order, you must use an order type with internal number assignment.
    Hope this helps.

    Tejas

  • Costing of Alternative BOMS

We have 4 alternative BOMs for a FG code. Accordingly we have created 4 Production Versions. If we post production against each of these production versions, how the costing and valuation will be done.
    kindly reply

    Hi Girish,
It's not only the SAP Technical configuaration we need to  consider. We need to look into how best the business process / requirements can be mapped into SAP.
    Incase of multiple Prod Versions,
Generally every company will have Annual Production Plan. Let's say for a specific FG, which can be produced using alternative combinations of BOM and Routing (PV's).
When you run Std Cost Estimate for any SFG / FG, system by default will pick the Prod Version 1 for Costing (if you don't follow Mixed Costing).
But, as you said, for example, you released the Std Cost using PV1 which is Rs 100. Now, in Actual production, you are using PV2 and the Cost is Rs.200, so, there is a considerable amount of variance (which could have been avoided if you had released Std Cost Estimate using PV2).
So as to avoid such undesirable variances (like in above scenario), Mixed Costing is used, where in, once you maintain the Procurement Alternatives and Mixing Ratios for the FG, when you run the Std Cost Estimate, system will calculate the "Weighted Average" cost of all the 4 Prod Versions (based on the Mixing ratios you maintained).
So,  this helps us to reduce the Variance that gets posted what ever may be the PV used for actual production.
    Hope this clarifies..
Ajay, waiting for your comments / additional contribution if any...
