How the HE** do I get a key back on the keyboard?
On my brand new MacBook Pro a key just popped off. My last Mac laptop had like 7 keys missing. Now I am irked. How the heck do you get this thing back on?? Remember the good ole days when you just shoved it in there. What are all these little white platic things?

Don't mean to threadjack here, my friend, but:
On my MacBook, my son popped off my control key. Do I need to make an appointment to have it replaced, or will they do it without one?
Will I need to send my computer in? I need to know, so I can back it up just incase...what is the liklihood they will do this? My keyboard itself is not damaged. Just the key.

Remove the song in question from the sync list and see if the rectifies the problem.
If it does, then iTunes believes the song no longer exists on your drive and that will need to be corrected. -

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that audiobook, click the arrow to the left of it, click the 'Report a Problem' button :
and then the 'Report a Problem' link on its line :
and select 'inadvertently purchased' (I'm assuming that there is 'inadvertent' option for audiobooks, there is for apps and music) as the problem and fill in the details (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours). -
Is email the only way to get iPhoto pictures back to the iPhone?
I inadvertently pressed "delete photos from iPhone after import" and now I have NO photos on my iPhone anymore...
Is there I way to select a bunch of photos and drag and drop them over to the iPhone when it's connected to my Mac?
I've seen that you can email pictures to yourself, but that seems arduous....What did you use for the import - iPhoto?
If so, you can create and make use of iPhoto albums for select photos in your iPhoto library - similar to creating an iTunes playlist.
Under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences, select Sync Photos with iPhoto. Below choose selected albums followed by selecting the iPhoto albums you want transferred to your iPhone in the window below followed by a sync.
This info is available in the iPhone user guide, which can be downloaded from Apple's website as a PDF file, and the user guide is available on your iPhone as a Safari bookmark. I suggest that you glance through the user guide at least. -
I get an "install failed" message. "Recovery system can't be created—click restart to return to previous version of OS X." This doesn't work. My Mac continues to try to install Mountain Lion. What is the elegant way to get my system back?
The first time I attempted to install ML was on a late 2011 MBP. It ran for three minutes then gave me the error message: Could not install OSX due to an unexpected error. I was using the original ML install app, not a USB or other drive.
After a couple of restarts wiht the same result I saw a message to the effect that the install was trying to close open apps. I closed apps manually a few times to no avail. I shut down instead of restarting then booted into Safe mode (hold down the shift key when starting) and that did it. The install went smoothly after that.
I since installed ML in two iMacs using a cloned copy of the install app on a USB drive. This time I shut down the computers and booted into Safe Mode first and there were no problems.
I don't know if this issue is the one causing you these problems but it is a simple enough solution to try.

've just upgraded to latest version of Firefox 4 and my Mac is only OSX.10.4.11 and now it won't open. How do I downgrade and get old Firefox back. Don't want to lose all my bookmarks. Why was I able to install in the first place. Very frustrated!!
You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
You can trash Firefox 4.0 then re-install Firefox 3.6, it will use your existing bookmarks, passwords etc

I want to run both my macbook pro and imac from a single external hard drive.
i bought a time capsual and set it us as my network and plugged my external hard drive into it. so now both my computers can access it and work on the same image and film files. the time capsual does a lovely job of backing up both my computers and my wifes. but i cant get it to back up the external hard drive that is conected to it. ive looked on the forum and it seems to me that its not possible, which seems odd to me that mac would enable you to plug a hard drive into the time capsual but not let you back it up, what is the point in that!?
so my question is can i back up the external hard drive with time machine, and if not how do i set up my home network so that all my computers can access the same files and time machine will back everything up?
I did the upgrade to maverics on my imac which has caused me a major headache as now all my apature albums have been updated to 3.5.1 but my macbook pro can no longer open them because im unable to upgade it to maverics, but thats another story.

The TC for whatever it is promoted as,, is still a simple hard disk in a router. It was designed for laptops to use as a backup. A desktop can use a USB drive, faster cheaper and more reliable than a network drive but the laptops need a network wireless storage. Hence the TC. It is NOT nor was it ever designed to do the job you are trying to use it for.. it is not a NAS.. it has no internal backup.
What is more Time Machine has no ability to backup network drives no matter what their format.
So the solution is to either use a real backup software.. eg Carbon Copy Cloner which can do far more than TM can or ever will. It is around $40 so hardly expensive. But since the TC was never designed for it, this will be slow.. and the next question is where are you going to back to. Using the TC as backup location for your files is less than great. Primarily because all your files are still on the same device albeit on different disk. It is also because mixing data and TM backups is not so great. The TC cannot be partitioned although you can alleviate some of the issues..

Fundamentally the TC is the wrong place to do this.
The right place is to plug the USB drive into the iMac.. since it is a desktop machine and you are probably not lugging it around. Simply share the USB drive to the network.
The MBP can then access the USB drive, and it will be around twice the speed of networking to the same drive on the TC. TM on the iMac can then also backup the USB drive to the TC as part of the normal TM backups.
The only thing is the iMac needs to be turned on to allow MBP access. -
At the end of a synch I am getting the following error message "iTunes could not back up the iPod because the backup could not be saved on the computer". Any ideas on how to resolve?

Try going to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and delete the existing backup so iTunes creates an entire new one vice changing the existing one. -

How do I get my tabs back into the main window?
I've had a problem with an add-on displaying a small extra window every time I open a session for some months now: I know you're supposed to try disabling and re-enabling every add-on you've got to find out which one is responsible, but this is a work computer and with all the add-ons I have, it would take too long, so I've just closed the extra window every time and got on with my work. However, for some reason today my forty-odd tabs have all opened in the small extra window, which has no tab bar, navigation bar or menu button. How do I get my tabs back into the main window of Firefox, or alternatively get that window to behave like a normal Firefox window so I can use it?
It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
