Do you want the service to be distributed ? Do you want the service to maintain state ? Do you want to do it transparently inside your code, or do you want to explicitly implement a client API ?

You need Mountain Lion (10.8.2 or higher) and iPhoto '11 (9.4 or higher) or Aperture 3.4 to get shared photo streams on Mac.
Another option to transfer them is to either import them to iPhoto using your usb cable, as explained here:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083, or to us an app like PhotoSync to transfer them to your Mac over your wifi. (PhotoSync will also transfer albums, not just photos from the camera roll.)

Accessing data from another computer - a strain on my computer?

My wife has an IBM Thinkpad laptop that is not connected to the internet. My computer is connected to the internet and sometimes she accesses her e-mail on it by clicking on a bookmark that I set up for her that links directly to her e-mail at work. Her entire work e-mail system (microsoft pc based) appears on my computer and she logs in. All of her e-mails (thousands) are on my computer including huge documents and such. I suspect that doing this may be causing my computer to freak out a bit.
I only have 1GB of RAM. I once typed in the name of the bookmark "Ann's e-mail" into "spotlight" and it appears as though all of her work e-mails seem reside on my hard drive. One time she was checking her e-mail and a kernel panic happened. She's stopped checking her e-mail on my computer and the kernel panics no longer happen. Perhaps this is a coincidence but in general, do all her e-mails reside on my hardrive all the time or only when she clicks on the bookmark and logs in. Lately she doesn't even have to log in. All e-mail appears when she clicks on the bookmark. In the past it always asked for her password first. (I find it strange that it no longer asks for her password) ) She's going to be getting her own internet connection soon but does anyone know if bookmark that links to a ton of data on another computer uses up RAM or CPU on my computer?? Should I delete the bookmark?

It sounds like you should be doing Internet Sharing on yours, is that not the case?

I was told at the Apple store than the model I have will not allow any additional upgrades. When I bought the unit it had 512MB and I had 1GB of memory put in the only other remaining memory slot. So I actually have 1.5 GB RAM. AT some point I'm be getting a new computer in order to get 4GB RAM but can't afford it right now.
What interface do you connect with, what interface does she connect wirh, and what is available on both?
Sorry, don't understand this question. Do you mean how do I get the internet? I have Road Runner from Time Warner Cable. My wife's home laptop isn't connected to anything. She wants to get an Air Card so she can access the internet when she travels.

Yes, we lost all stored info in our ipod library. (Thank God we backed up the checkbook and pix!) So, I reinstalled the software, and bought a new CD from itunes. My shuffle still has all my old music on it of course, and I can listen to it, but what I don't know is how to access it.
I want to add the new music to the shuffle without erasing everything already stored on it. When I insert the shuffle into the USB port a window pops up and asks:
"The ipod is synched with another library. Do I want to erase it and synch with the new one"
Isn't the shuffle like a memory stick? How do I access the music already stored on it?

You will need other software to do this easily. Yamipod, Anapod maybe? Never used either and there are others.
It is also possible to do yourself with iPod in disk mode but you would have to figure out file structure and naming.

WinRS(Windows Remote Shell) is used to execute a “program” on a remote host. Programs with a user interface, console applications that prompt for input, and console applications that use the Win32 console API, do not work correctly in the Windows PowerShell
remote host. Considering the notepad and paint include a user interface ,they may work incorrectly in the Winrs.

Hi all, my wife has an ibook that I initialized thinking it would help when installing a 9.2.2 that she was having problems with. It didn't as somehow the disc still will not install, it says programme will not run on computer. Now there is nothing at all in the computer so will have to reinstall the OS X.

I want to access my icloud mail from devices NOT my own such as work computer, travel in hotel, other persons computer. I keep getting this message that tells me to LEARN more and gives all sorts of DOWNLOADING instructions to that computer. ENDLESS loop. I am not downloading or configuring a public or work computer nor is it my device. Thanks Roger, Today I signed up to the apple support communities specifically so I could thank you. And to publically complain about what Apple did and did not do when then terminated "mobile me" in June 2012. My short story.... prior to June 2012 I had access to my personal MAC G4 computer, a family member's old IPAD and my work PC. I tired to migrate to I-Cloud but that was not possible without buying a new home computer. So next best option would be to use a browser on either my G4, or the IPAD or the PC at work to access this new "icloud" server, or whatever it is. I've been a mac user since the very first macs came to the market so I'm not a novice. I spent many hours googling and searching Mac support to find out how to access my email after they turned off mobile me. I did not find a way, so I recently bought a mac mini to hopefully get all my new and historical email back and working again. Yes, I did get back on email again using the mac mini I had to buy, so apple did OK there.
But I find it negelent, perhaps deceptive, that Apple did not provide simple instructions like you did to the mobile me users that Apple effectively kicked off their email service, which I paid for, for many years. That's very much like stealing in my opinion....Apple couldn't send me an email to the Icloud link like you provided, with instruction on how to get to my email? Rather they kept insisting that I migrate to icloud, and insisting that I had to meet computer operating system requirements that my old G4 could not meet. In my opinion they were not honest. They effectively created the preception that anyone using an older mac had to buy a new one and I think they knew what they were doing. I heard someone say that ethics cannot be taught, I agree. Thanks again Roger, I can now access my Mac Mail from alternative locations.
