How to achieve  Structures in InfoProvider area in Query Designer?

Hi,
How to achieve  Structures in InfoProvider area in Query Designer? When I was observing some standard Queries, I observed Structure( With KF and Without KF ) along with KeyFigures & Dimensions in Infoprovider area. I was wondered about , how it was possible? Can anyone clarify regarding this issue? I am suppose to creta some queries for HR reorts........
Regards,
Suman

Hi Suman,
Structures are two types, one is local and other is Global.
Structures that you have seen at Infoprovider level are Global, those we can use for any query developed on Infoprovider.
Local structures cannot be used for other queries, those are local to that query only.
Structures we can define at Rows and Column levels. We can define for Characteristics and Keyfigures also.
To define a strucure, Right click on Rows/Columns area and say New Structure and add the fields you required so that query is defined as Local, If we want to make that strucure as Global-- then Right click on the Strucure and say Save as and Save it with proper description and technical name, then that structure will become Global Structure and it appears in the Infoprovider level.
Remember we can a maximum of Two Strucures for a Query, there is no limitatiion to define the number of Global structures  at Infoprovider level.
Hope this helps.
Veerendra.

  • Two structures on same axis in query designer

    Hi,
I developed a query with two structures column axis in Bex query designer (in BI 7)
when I open this query in report designer is showing this error
" T<b>he Report Designer does not support this query drill down. Column axis may contain one structure only: remove any additional dimensions</b> "
Can you please help me on this issue.

    Hi Ram,
sorry for the late reply, had a weekend break.
If a query (or query view) contain two structures and also one or
more characteristics then a dynamic section will be used. The dynamic
section will generate individual cells for each intersection of the two
structures, this means you will be able to re-position those cells freely.
<b>Also you cannot use a query or query view which contains more than one
    structure in the columns.</b>
and you are having two structures in your columns, that is the reason you are getting the error message. It doesn't matter even if your query runs fine in WAD and Query designer, but your structure placements doesn't satisfy the Report Desinger specs.
    Hope it helps,

  • How to Add a Variable created in New Query Designer

    Friends
i am able to create variable on a char and i am unable to attach it to it.
Any specific options that i need to set it so that i get the selection screen.
    Regards
    Vijay

    Hello Vijay,
From where are are trying to use the variable and what type of variable you created?
    For characteristic variables,
In BW 3.x front-end, you can right click on the characteristic name and select "restrict". This will pop-up a window. Choose variables tab and select the variable from there.
In NW 2004s front-end, you can do this only from Filter tab page in query designer
not from Rows/columns and free characteristics.
You can do the same procedure in "Global Filter" or "Default values" area and attach the variable.

  • How to create/use SAP Exit variable of Query designer

    Hello experts,
Can you please guide me on how to create/use SAP Exit variables ?
Is there any way we can transport customer exit include in which we write all codes related to customer exit variables?
Kindly provide your valuable inputs on this.
    Thanks,
    Mitesh

    Hello Gautam,
I think you should first implement the user-exit via the transaction SMOD/CMOD and the SAP-Enhancement RSR00001 User-Exit ( BW Reporting )
For the concrete implementation I would suggest to encapsulate the variables, as it is described here
    Easy implementation of BEx-Userexit-Variables
    and here: BEx-Userexits reloaded

  • Drill down in query when structure is in use (in query designer)

    Hi Guys,
I have a structure in a report. This report was created with a characteristics structure.
Now I have a problem like this for example:
    Three company codes 1000, 1100.
    Turn over 100000.
Now the report shows only the turn over for all company codes.
    Company codes 100000
I thought the navigation / drill down for company codes will be automatically available.
    I expected
    Company code 1000  80000
    Company code 1100  20000
    Result                        100000
Is there something what should be activated extra?
I a hierarchy mandatory for structures?
Edited by: saplaz on May 23, 2011 3:22 PM

    Hi,
Either make use of hierarchy or make use of selection in structure.
create selections for all the compay code which you want to display in your query output.
Like make a new selection inside that drag and drop company code and select the value after that restrict it whith your desired key figure.
By following the above steps you will get the repective turnover of comapny codes against each other.
    Hope it helps.

  • BW 7.0 - display of the global structures in the query designer

    Hi colleagues,
When I open the gobal structures of an infoprovider in the query designer, the system shows me all levels of the structures; that is not clearly arranged.
It would be better, the system would show allways  only the next level.
    Is there any idea ?
    regards
    Dieter Gerl

    Hi,
I can think of three possibilities for a solution.
    1. Store the name of the required table in a config table and select at runtime
    2. use an 'IF' or 'CASE' statement to deterimine which system you are currently in and then place the required varible within this statement.
    3. Preferred solution: use a Field Symbol to assign the table at run-time, this way no errors will occur and your program will compile.
There are many examples of FIELD SYMBOLS on SDN and even the F1 help in SAP.

  • How to get the standard Menu of Query Designer into Web Template

    Hi Experts,
is there a way on how to put the standard menu within Bex Query Designer (after executing a Query with the Query Designer you get into ad-hoc reporting with a menu including several functions like print, show as..., properties, etc) into an individual Bex Web Template?
Copy & Paste source code will not work I guess because of several javascript functions I don't have access to.
    Thanks & Best regards
    Tobias

BEx queries are displayed on the web using standard web template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN or some customized version base don your implementation.
You can either include the 0ANALYSIS_Pattern web template in your custom template or use Save as to create a new template with 0ANALYSIS_Pattern  AS THE STARTING POINT.

  • How to achieve multiple hirearcy structure using RBS feature in Project server 2013

    HI,
How can we achieve multiple hirearcy structure using RBS feature in Project server 2013?
The below is the screen shot of hirearcy.
    GM
    DGM
    AGM
    CM
    Officers
There are different departments and one AM may handle 4 or more department. How to achieve this permission levels so that GM can see all departments officers created project, same with other levels
    Thanks,
    Sunitha

    Hi Sunitha,
You could populate the RBS lookup table with 2 levels (department and sub department). Then configuring correctly your
security categories based on the RBS, the resources in the 1st level (departments) will see projects from all theirs sub departments.

  • How can i reuse a structure in the query designer in 3.5

    Hi all,
we are using the version BW 3.5,  now how can i reuse a structure made int he query designer, because i need it in another query, i did the structure and put it a technical name and save, help guys

    HI Richard,
Create a Structure in Rows/columns and save As it, then in the left Panel of the Query Designer you can see three Folders
    1) Structures
    2) Keyfigures
    3) Dimensions
then Expand the structures Folder, there you can find your saved structure, Structures are 2 types
    1) With Key figures
    2) Without Key Figures
If you have the key figures in your saved structure, then you can find it in the subfolder of with Keyfigures, else in the other folder.
Now you can use this structure by draging in all the queries which are on the same InfoProvider (CUbe. MultiProvider)

  • How to achieve automated posted for invoice and stock transfers

    Hi,
I have following queries for an RFP, can some one give hints on how to achieve them in SAP
o Receive self-billing documents from the customer, stating the deliveries and amounts that are settled and paid
o Automatic posting of invoice documents from the vendor, based on the data from the purchase order and goods receipts
o Process material stock transfers between two plants that use different SAP systems
    Thanks & Regards
    Raghu

    Hi,
Normally when we do GR we take the cenvat credit by capturing & posting the excise invoice.
This can be done using the t.codes - MIGO or J1IEX.
So when the Material doc is posted the Part 1 register gets updated with Qty received.
If we post the excise inv using either MIGO or J1IEX the Part 2 register gets updated.
Now if you have done both the above then inorder to cancel the excise inv.
    1. You have to cancel the Material Doc (so system wil use the Mov type 102)
    2. Now Post your excise inv using J1IEX so that your Part1 reg will be updated ( i.e you are reversing the Cenvat Credit that you have availed).
    3. Finally you have to cancel the Excise inv document using J1IEX so that your Part 2 register wil be updated.
Make sure that you do the above steps as per the above sequence else system will show the error as you mentioned.
    Hope its clear.
    Regards,
    Kiran

  • How to create a crosstab based on BW Query which has key figure structure

    Hi,
We are on CR 2008 SP1.
We have an existing BW query with custom Characteristics structure in the "Columns" section and a custom Key Fugure structure in the "Rows" section in the BW query designer.
Cell editor has been used to define formulas of the cells.
We wish to build a crystal report on top of the query.
On the crystal report on top of the query we get the characteristics structure and individual key figure elements. As already discussed in multiple fourm posts, this is the expected behaviour.
We are using a cross tab and in the column section, I have put the "Characteristic" structure  in the  "columns" section in the crosstab using the crosstab expert. This leads to horizonatal column headings as per expectation.
Within the characteristics structure we have multiple fields which description "%" with diffeent formula's defined on the BW query designer. On the Cyrtsl Report, when we get the columns in the crosstab, we get only a single "%" field. All other "%" fields are not visible.
    A. Is there a way to get all fields in in case of same description?
I tried putting in the Key Figure elements in the "Rows" section, but was not able to get desired output.
Experts: Can you advice how this report can be built?
    Any help will be appretiated.
    Rgds

I am interested... How did you solve it?

  • Structuring a Business Area for Reporting Periods and Points in Time

    Dear all,
I'm in the process of designing my first business area for discoverer.
The database is for people staying in accommodation over various periods.
(Anything from individual days to periods of 15 years!!)
The reports I'm producing fall into two categories:
    (a) Reports on periods of time such as:
Accomodation days during a year broken down by Region
Trend of accommodation days per month during a two year period
    (b) Reports on a particular point in time such as:
Number of people in accommodation on a particular day
I'm trying to work out how to structure the business area.
If I think about requirement (a), I'm inclined to create a view which
splits up periods into one month chunks (the smallest period I think I need).
By this I mean having a view which gives me a row for every month for which any period of accommodation is active. This makes reporting on a monthly basis fairly easy.
If I think about (b), I'm inclined to create a view which leaves the accommodation periods as single rows and then calculate a boolean field which indicates whether that accomodation is active on the date in question.
It seems that these two requirements need different structures in the business area. Maybe it's best to create two folders which draw on the two different views.
    Any thought would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Suhada

    Hi,
As you would probably expect, it all depends on your requirement and the table design.
You can create a date hierarchy in Discoverer that contains the day, month, year levels and this will make it easy to create reports with totals aggregated at these levels.
However, if your table contains, for example, the start and end dates when people move in and out of accommodation, then you will need to have a period table so that you can report on the months between the start and end dates. The period table will list all past and future months and you can join this to your data to obtain totals for all the periods.
If you need to have reports that display zeros or nulls for periods where there is no data, then you will need to outer join your data with a period table.
The decision on whether to use views or folders and joins in the EUL depends on the complexity of your data model. If you need to join many tables together to produce a single report, then you should consider putting some or all the joins into database views.
    Hope that helps,
    Rod West
