How to add @outlook e-mail?

Hello!
I am a new mac user and tried to add my @outlook e-mail account to Mail, but it seems that I have a problem with the server. I am using the server imap.live.com and door 993, as per indicated in the mail assistent.
Does anyone knows what is the correct server for this account?
I could add my hotmail and exchange account, but not the outlook one.
Thanks!
Simone

As far as I am aware Outlook.com still only supports ActiveSync, POP3, or a web-browser. Of these only POP3 is supported by Apple Mail. An iPhone does support ActiveSync as well as POP3.
While in theory you could therefore use POP3 in Apple Mail, frankly I would not bother. Use a 'real' mail service like GMail from Google which supports IMAP4 instead.
Microsoft have said since they (re)launched Outlook.com that they were looking at ways of improving the service for use with Apple Mail (over the ancient POP3 protocol). So far there has been zero progress and all their other products for Mac are still crippled compared to their Windows equivalents so I would not hold my (or your) breath.

  • How to determine Outlook selected mail mode using C# add-in?

    Hi all,
I need to check if a selected MailItem is in compose mode. I use Outlook 2013. MailItem.Sent doesn't help. E.g. I select some e-mail that was clicked Reply and edited and now has a draft status. MailItem.Sent for that item is true. Is that possible to check
if the selected mail in compose mode or check mail draft status?
    Thansk in advance.

    Hello Maksidrom,
The Sent property is set once and keep the value the rest of the time.
The Outlook object model doesn't provide any other properties for this. You need to use a low-level property -
    PR_MESSAGE_FLAGS
. The PR_MESSAGE_FLAGS property contains a bitmask of flags indicating the origin and current state of a message. In general, you are interested in the following value:
MSGFLAG_UNSENT - The message is still being composed. It is saved, but has not been sent. Typically, this flag is cleared after the message is sent.
The DASL name for the property is "http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x0E070003". You can use it to get the value using the
    PropertyAccessor class. For example:
    Sub DemoPropertyAccessorGetProperty()
    Dim PropName, Header As String
    Dim oMail As Object
    Dim oPA As Outlook.PropertyAccessor
'Get first item in the inbox
    Set oMail = _
    Application.Session.GetDefaultFolder(olFolderInbox).Items(1)
    'PR_TRANSPORT_MESSAGE_HEADERS
    PropName = "http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x007D001E"
'Obtain an instance of PropertyAccessor class
    Set oPA = oMail.PropertyAccessor
    'Call GetProperty
    Header = oPA.GetProperty(PropName)
    Debug.Print (Header)
    End Sub

  • How to add outlook webmail

How do I add an outlook webmail acct to my Mac mail?

    Hello mushrea,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities
It sounds like you want to add an email account to your Mac Mail application.
Here is an article that will help you get that setup.
Configuring Mail for your email account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1277
    Manually configuring Mail
Note: You should make note of your email settings--see the cheat sheet below. Contact your email service vendor and note all of the details needed to fill in your settings. During the setup process, you will need these details to complete the setup process. You can either print the sheet and write on it, or paste it into a text document and fill it in on your Mac. Keep the sheet for later reference in case you need it.
Open Mail (click it on the Dock or open it from the Applications folder).
If the "Welcome to Mail" assistant does not appear, choose Add Account from the File menu.
Fill in the Full Name, Email address, and Password fields.
Note: Your email account password will be stored in Keychain to allow you to automatically log in to your email account when you open Mail.
Deselect "Automatically set up account" if it is enabled. Click Continue to proceed.
    Choose the proper Account Type.
Give your account a useful description, such as "Anne's Gmail account" or "Juan's Yahoo! email account". It can be called whatever you want.
Enter your Incoming Mail Server, User Name and Password. Click Continue to proceed.
If prompted, enter your Incoming Mail Security settings. Click Continue to proceed.
For Outgoing Mail Server, a useful description such as "Gmail Outgoing Mail Server" or "Yahoo! Outgoing Mail Server".
Enter the Outgoing Mail Server details.
If necessary, select "Use Authentication" and enter your User Name and Password. Click Continue to proceed.
If prompted, enter your Outgoing Mail Security settings. Click Continue to proceed.
Verify your settings in the Account Summary. Check "Take account online". Click "Create" to complete the process.
After completing these steps you should be able to send and receive email via this account. If you can't send or receive email, contact your ISP for assistance (even if you don't use your ISP's email service), or visit any online help or support websites they offer. Have your email settings on hand to inform the ISP support of the needs of your email service provider.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • How to add folders in mail

I just got the iPad 2 and I'm trying to find a way to add folders to my Comcast mail.
All there is is inbox, vip, sent, and trash.
Where and how do you get more folders, like save and apple?
    Thanks.

    It's me again.
Is this not a problem for anyone else?
Am I just not seeing what to do?
It would be nice if someone would just give me a hand or send me to somewhere that might have an answer.
    Thanks again.

  • How to add multiple e-mail addresses into my iPad Contacts?

I just received an e-mail with 40 addresses in the distribution list. Now I want to add all of the addresses into my iPad Contacts. How can I do this in one operation rather doing each of the 40 addresses individually?

Unfortunately you can't add all at once. But you save a lot of time by the copy/paste method (double-tap at a mail address, tap "copy", go to the "Contacts" app, enter the contact you want to paste the address in, tap "Mail address", then double tap again and tap "paste").

  • How to add attachment to mail?

When composing a new email or while replaying to an email, how do I add the attachment that could be a picture or a document, spreadsheet or presentation.

In the iOS world, you start in the app that the attachment comes from.   If you want to send a picture, open the photo app, find the picture or pictures, tap the output button, and select e mail.  If you want to send a doc or spreadsheet, start in the pages, numbers, or whatever app you created the document in.
This is backwards from the windows way, but once you get used to it, works fine.

  • How to add an e-mail address from a message into a chosen address-book?

I have no use for "Personal Address Book": I imported my e-mail addresses from my Eudora address-books. As it is, it is quite cumbersome to add that address to the address-book that I want. In Eudora this was easy

If you are talking about an address in a received mail the easy way to do it is to click the star to the right of the senders email as it displays in the Message Pane or Tab header.
If the sender is not in one of your address books the star is not filled with color. Clicking the empty star will add it to the default Personal Address Book and fill the star with color.
Clicking a filled star will open the contact edit dialog box and there is a drop down list of address books so you can move it.
This is NOT the same star that shows to the left of a message header in the Inbox window.
You can also drag and drop contacts between address books easily.

  • How to add user e-mail to a custom report?

    Hello,
I am not a sql DBA, but trying to find out exact line that I should add to the query for any custom report, to show user e-mail address field as well.
For example, I use this query for all machines running unwanted software (found this query on google) :
    Select
    SD.Name0,
    sys1.User_Name0,
    SF.FileName
    From v_r_system sys1
    join v_gs_softwarefile sf on sf.resourceid=sys1.resourceid
left join v_R_User usr on usr.User_Name0=sys1.User_Name0
    left Join v_R_System SD on SD.ResourceId = SF.ResourceId
    Where SF.FileName Like '%Azureus%'
    Or SF.FileName Like '%ABC%'
    Or SF.FileName Like '%BitComet%'
    Order By SD.Name0, SF.FileName, sys1.User_Name0
I do have user discovery enabled with mail attribute, and can see e-mail address getting collected for all the users.
    Thanks in Advance

In case it's SQL/SSRS, which I assumed based on the initial query, then your query should look like this:
    Select
    SD.Name0,
    sys1.User_Name0,
    usr.Mail0,
    SF.FileName
    From v_r_system sys1
    join v_gs_softwarefile sf on sf.resourceid=sys1.resourceid
left join v_R_User usr on usr.User_Name0=sys1.User_Name0
    left Join v_R_System SD on SD.ResourceId = SF.ResourceId
    Where SF.FileName Like '%Azureus%'
    Or SF.FileName Like '%ABC%'
    Or SF.FileName Like '%BitComet%'
    Order By SD.Name0, SF.FileName, sys1.User_Name0

  • How to add notes from mail.app to dock?

    Hi guys,
Is it possible to add a shortcut to the Notes feature of mail.app to the dock? I'm using Lion.
Basically I'd like to use the Notes feature of mail.app instead of Stickies (stickies won't sync with my iPhone over iCloud, but Notes will).
    Thanks for your help!
    Ben

    Jason,
If the account is IMAP, then the Inbox (and Sent) reside on the server. You should only need to remove the account, and set it up again. Any copies of messages from an IMAP account are only meant to be temporary, and useful for Offline Viewing. Backing up the cached copies of IMAP messages may not be a great idea, some times, if messages get removed from the cache, and then you resync with the server.
    More info, please.

I am unable to add couples to my mailing address. I have added the spouse name in the spouse field and have checked to make sure the addresses are the same yet when I try to print the label it only shows John Doe and not John & Jane Doe. I really do not know what I am doing wrong.

  • How to Add AppleScript to Mail Menu

Excuse the cross posting. I posted the same topic under OS X Mail
and was referred to this section
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12607355#12607355
I would like to add an AppleScript folder to Mail Menu and could
not find that option in the toolbox. Anyone been able to add an
    AppleScript.?

Not all applications have an option to add a Script menu. You can enable a system-wide Script menu from the AppleScript Editor, which will place a menu extra on the right side of the menu bar. Scripts placed in your user's ~/Library/Scripts folder will appear in this menu, and you can further organize scripts to be active only in a certain application by putting them in the appropriate application folder, for example ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/Mail.
