How to allow user to enter multiple values?

Hi, can someone tell me how I can allow user to select multiple values from a selection screen. To be more clear, I have to display 4 values on the selection screen and want to allow user to select 2 or 3 values from it. It will be very helpful if someone could tell me how to do it.

Hi Gurus
I am having a DFF segment where user needs the following validation. I have to check whether the value entered by user is having status number as 5 in a custom table. I can do this by Table type Validation.
But the problem here is, they should also be able to enter new values which not in that table.
How i can achieve this. Appreciate your help on this.

Value sets allow only for standar list for validation, not a combobox that is what may help You to achieve what You want. You either have a restricted list or an open field to type whatever matches the format restrictions.
For what You specify, I see no reason on having a table validation is the user can after all enter new values, perhaps it's to have the table values as references and avoid duplicates. Workarounds may be:
Add an "others" value to the table, and enable another segment to enter new values and add custom validation to avoid duplicates and insert the new values to the table for future use.
Have an independent value set and add a customization to avoid duplicates (more difficult considering typos) and insert new values.

Are you using the built-in Currency option under the Format tab? If so,
what you're describing should not happen.

How To Allow User To Enter "$" In A Number Field

I have a form that includes various numeric fields in which the user should enter dollar values. It works fine if the user enters a number WITHOUT a dollar sign. Suppose the user enters "1234", the field will display "$1,234.00", which is exactly what I want. However, if the user decides to change the value, clicks on the field, and replaces the "00" with "56" then when they leave the field it will display "$0.00". I've figured out this is because they left the dollar sign in the field when editing.
So, how can I fix the validation or other settings so that someone could enter "$1234" and have it show "$1,234.00" instead of "$0.00"?

Have you applied patterns on the numeric field? select pattern like $1,234.21 in Display and Edit TAB of Patterns- Numeric Field dialog box and then check.

Hi!
No, there's no way to it, because Smartform is just like a piece of paper, it can't handle any objects, after it is ready.
It can be printed out/archived/sent on email as an attachment and that's all. It cannot be modified after it is completed.

I'm not sure anyone here has talked it before.
I'm quite confused, and hope someone could help me.
I have a SQL script which has a field for user entering some comments in command-line.
Whenever I tried to enter something like " it's not bad" in a statement like:
select '&&COMMENTS' from dual;
I got an error message like:
select upper('it's not bad') from dual)
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis
I've tried some other ways such as using INSTR first, but all failed. :(
Could anyone please give me some suggestion?

if the field is not there or not to be seen the user WILL have problems inputting data.
BUT once the field is there you can NOT prevent that the user fills it with data.
all you can do is on PAI check if the data the user inputted was good or bad, and clear his inputs, but you can NOT prevent him inputting something.

Is there a way to force the user to enter a value in the prompt before they run the report?
We have a customer specific dashbaord. The user has to enter a customer number in Dashbaord prompt on a first page of the dashboard. We store that value in a presentation variable. That presenatation variable value is being referenced in all the other pages of the dashabord. If the user does not enter a values in the first page and directly navigates to the other pages on the dashbaord, the reports on the other pages start to run for all the customers. Is there a way to force the customer to enter a value in the prompt before running any of the reports on the dashboard?

by Answer prompts, do you mean Column prompt?
I can not use Column prompt in this senario as the user should not have to enter the same customer number over and over again when he navigates from one page to another on the same dashboards. If there is a way to default the column prompts then this would be an acceptable solution.
I have already defaulted the prompt to a value as suggested in hte blog, but the issues occurs when the user erases the defaulted value. Is there are way to set the default value within the report?
Can you please explaing mroe about option 3 regarding Java Script. Also please let me know what other options there are so that I can check whether they will fit my needs.

Panel close? events cannot be triggered on a VI being viewed or controlled remotely. Some more information on that can be found in the help here:http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361E-01/lvprop/vi_panel_closeq/. My suggestion would be to set the Title Bar on the front panel of your remote VI to not be visible so that their only option for closing the window is to click the logout button. Are you using Remote Front Panels(http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3277) to do this instrument control? Using remote front panels allows you to manage a lot of the multiple people accesssing at the same-time type issues so it may be something to look into if you are not already using this method.

I would like to know if it is possible to use forms to enter newmember in a dimension (for example a new project in the 'project'dimension). Currently we have created dummy project beforehand...But I have seen that the workforce allows users to enter anew 'employee' using a form... I believe it must create a newmember in the dimension ?

I am not sure to understand exactly how you are working...If you create three dummy project for every branch / sales area,does that means that actual project are consolidated in thoseproject? Then do you use the workflow feature? For example, how canyou approve or reject a high probability project code that wouldsum up several kind of project... In my opinion, it's necessary to work on 'single' and identifiedproject. In my company we have to be SOX compliant. I am quite surehaving a budget on 'unidentified' project is not really SOXcompliant... Hi, is there a way to allow user to select multiple files inside the file dialog using scripts? So not just something like "*.ai" or "*.eps" but where the user can actually use their shift key to select a batch of files inside the file dialog and then the script would process each one.

Pl post exact versions of OS and EBS.
The ability to do this exists in forms (professional user interface) using forms personalization, but does not exist in the OAF (self-service) interface, AFAIK. See related MOS Doc 399892.1 (Is It Possible To Restrict Employee Name Entry To All Upper Case in the PUI And SSHR ?) for some details.

Force a user to enter a value for a parameter.

Hi,
I have a report with a bunch of parameters and I want to force the user to enter values for two parameters amongst all of them. Like for example when the user doesn't select values for those 2 parameters he should get a dialog box saying "please enter value for xyz parameter" or something like that, which will force the user to enter a value for the parameters before he can see the report.
Please let me know if BI Publisher can do this.
