How to analysys account dimension in planning to write view to load metadat

hi,
i need to analysys some dimensions in plannning application, coud u please hepl me to send any documents to my gmail [email protected] also i need to write view to load meta data to planning through HAL.
Thanks
Subbu.

You email seems very vague.....but from what I can tell you are trying to determine what your planning dimensions should be from a data source or a data warehouse. Once you determine this, you can use HAL to load from those views with an ODBC adapter right into planning. Keep in mind, there are standard dimensions that already come with planning out of the box. Those will be Accounts, Time, Years, Version, Scenario, Entity...and if you use the Currency piece, then 2 more dimension get added, HSP Rates and Currency. From here you just need to deteremine from your source how the heirarchies are going to look for those standard dimension plus any custom dimensions you add........I hope this gets you started..

  • Hyperion Planning- Account dimension - Sort Order Issue with ODI 11.1.1.5

    Hello Experts,
First of all, I thank you everybody in this forum for posting their valuable suggestions.
I am facing a strange issue with ODI (Version 11.1.1.5) while loading metadata to Planning ACCOUNT dimension (Version 11.1.2.x). I am using a Oracle view to load metadata to this dimension. I have defined the sort order in the view and enabled SORT_ORDER_BY_INPUT. For the fresh load to the dimension, everything is working fine. But, when I move a member from one parent to another parent, and define it as the top member of new parent, it is missing its sort order.
But it is working fine if you define it as the second, third...or last member under new parent. I have tried all the possible ways by flipping all the properties but unable to fix it.
Please help me here to resolve this issue.
    Your help is greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks

To be honest I think you are best logging it with Oracle because it sounds like you are doing everything correctly so it could be a bug.
Have you tested this on any previous versions of ODI or is it a new installation?
If it does get logged with Oracle please keep me informed of the outcome as I would be interested to hear.
    Cheers

  • Loading hierarchical dimension in planning

    Hi,
I'm trying to load an Account dimension in Planning..
It is a flat table with the following levels. The table basically created P&l and balance sheet hierarchies..
    L1 L2 L3 L4 ACCOUNTID ACCOUNTDESC
Do I need to convert this table in parent child format before loading it using ODI?
If not how do I load it in a flat format using ODI..
Any same query for converting it in parent child format will be helpful..
Any responses will be much appreciated!!

A simple way would be to have multiple loads L1, L2 then L2, L3..... or load the file into a table and create a view on it.
    Cheers

  • How to use one Account dimension for multiple account structures

We are implementing a HFM application to replace two general ledger applications, one being Corporate and the other a new subsidiary. We need to maintain both of the chart of accounts and their unique rollup structures. We are facing the difficulty in attempting to combine the two chart of accounts into one HFM Account Dimension because a few of the subsidiary accounts have the same account numbers but they are meant different things.
    Question:
How can we set up two distinct account structures in HFM and also have the subsidiary accounts rolled into the Corporate accounts for consolidation reporting?
    Appreciate your help.

    Hope this help.

  • How to hide member Account dimension from BPC Administrator for Reporting

Hi experts, i need to hide some members of the Account dimension for reporting, because those members dont use it anymore, but i dont want delete them.
The question is: Does it exist any propierties for this dimension type that allows hiding members in reporting without set members in the BPC for Excel?
I can create a report which contain the members i want to show, but if any change occurs (client desire) the report is outdated.
    Thank you in advance
    Ignacio Vazquez

    Ignacio,
There is no function like that.
You can choose below two options.
    1. Create a property like  'NOUSE'  and set a value 'Y' for unused member
When you create EVDRE report, set a filter against that property that has value 'N'
then those members will not be shown at the report.
    2. Create 'NOUSE' parent member and put members under this parent member.
Maybe option 1 is more easier to do that.
I hope it will help you

  • How to use the FORMAT property of an account dimension

    Hi Experts,
I tried my best but I just can't find any information about the format property of an account dimension. I know that it is a reserved one and I have seen something such as #,##0. In detail I want inc member to look like 1.000.000 and exp member  like -4.000.0000.
This is probably a stupid question.
    Thanx in advance,
    Cora

    Hi Cora-
These are Excel custom formats..please review the following link for detailed information:
    [Custom Number Formats in Excel|http://www.ozgrid.com/Excel/CustomFormats.htm]
For your specific example:  ###,###,### for INC and  -###,###,### EXP should be sufficient.

  • How to hide the Attribute dimension from Planning webform

    I am in Planning 9.3.1
We are using members in row section of webform w.r.t Attribut dimension
so when we are viewing the webform- it is displaying member name followed by Attribute dimension name .
any way to hide that Attribute dimension member from the webform.
    KK

In the Dimension Properties for that dimension, select "Enable custom attribute display" but dont pull the attribute from Available Dimensions to Selected Dimensions. I've given the name of the property from 11.1.1.3 version, so not sure if its the same in 9.3.1 but it'll be somewhat similar.

  • UPLOAD MASTER DATA FROM SAP GL TO ACCOUNT DIMENSION

    hi
how can i upload master data (chart of account) from BW 0GL account info object to BPC Account Dimension ?
how can i upload the hierarchy, there is no hierarchy in ECC for the chart of account

SAP offers free content + documentation in the form of rapid-deployment solutions (RDS).
In the Extended Financial Planning Rapid-deployment solution, there is a module called G/L Financial Planning which includes the full load of SAP-based account dimension from SAP ERP to BPC via BW. This content introduces BPC-based Package Links as a best practice way to load master data (including the account hierarchy and transaction data).  You can download the content and documentation from the highlighted page above or HERE.
SAP also offers free training on the EPM rapid-deployment solutions in the EPM RDS Academy 2015 on SAP JAM. If the link to the Academy does not work, please register HERE and SAP will invite you.

  • BPC Consolidation Account Dimension - R_ACCT X C_ACCT X O_ACCT X P_ACCT

    Hi everyone,
I search for all the forum and I didn't find any explanation about the use of the "standards" accounts on BPC, we are using BPC 7.0 for NW.
Why BPC NW differentiate the dimensions depending on which application are going to be included?
For example BPC NW has four dimensions for the account C_ACCT(consolidation), R_ACCT(rate), P_ACCT(Planning) and O_ACCT(Ownership).
In our consolidation project we have the planning front too so at the end we will have only a group chart of account for both.
Can we maintain only an account dimension or is there a technically requirement to mantain three or more account dimensions?
One for Legal App, one for Ownership App, one for Intercompany Matching App and one for planning?
So we should have to use same dimension, an example the C_ACCT, on all application or we have to use each dimension in their owing application and change them with same data? That's the question.
Could someone explain what would we do in this scenario? Please don't send documentation because on every one we read are saying to use different, but how is the maintenance for that, explain this.
    Best Regards
    Alexandre

    Hello Alexandre,
You cannot use the same account dimension in all these applications, because the Rate and Ownership applications are designed to store currency conversion and ownership related data, so it would make no sense to add a financial chart of account to these applications. You could however use the same CoA between your Consolidation and your ICMatching, the idea to have two different ones is that you only have Intercompany data from some of your accounts and you may also want to use different roll-ups of your account to perform you IC Matching.
Here are the 4 account dimension:
    - R_ACCT used in the Rate application, contains type of rates (like "END", "AVG)
    - O_ACCT used in the Ownership application, contains method and percentage of consolidations (like "METHOD","PCON","POWN,...)
    - C_ACCT used in the consolidation application, containt the financial Char of Account (Balance Sheet, P&L, ...)
    - P_ACCT used in the planning application, contains account specific for Planning.
You could share the same CoA between your Consolidaiton and Planning, as long as you can defined a common one that fits both purposes

  • Sharing accounts across 2 plan types  - Planning 9.3.1

This is my first attempt to share accounts across 2 plan types and I am not getting expected results. In the setup, account 1234 was assigned to both Plan A and plan B with the "source plan type" as Plan B. When I create a form for Plan B, everything looks good and I can input data into account 1234. Then I created a similar form for Plan A using the same account. With all other dimensions being the same, I expect that I would see the data input for Plan B, account 1234 in the Plan A form as a read only field.
Are my expectations incorrect? If so, then I don't understand the benefit of sharing accounts across multiple plan types.
    Any insight is greatly appreciated.

One benefit would be how you use the same data in one plan type against the other. A simple example:
Let's say in your example Plan B represents Revenue and Plan A represents Expense - one way some people design Planning applications. Let's also say that your company calculates expense as a percent of revenue.
The revenue group enters revenue figures into acct 1234 into the Plan B form.
When the expense group pulls up the Plan A form, which also shows acct 1234 (but as read-only), they can now calculate against it. So an expense user can enter % values into some other acct in Plan A, "Exp % Rev", and have it calculate against the read-only acct 1234 being x-ref'ed from Plan B.
    Plan B Form:
    ___________Jan__Feb
    "acct 1234"_100__100 (input)
    Plan A Form:
    ____________Jan___Feb
    "acct 1234"___100__100 (read-only)
    "Exp % Rev"__5%___5% (input)
    "Rev Exp"_____5____5 (calculated)
The benefit here is that no data movement or copy is necessary between plan types for this to work, assuming the x-ref is dynamically calculated. Users can see data in both places.
This is just a simple example, however, and may not make sense in all situations.
    Hope that helps!

  • Setting Account dimension as sparse

    Hello!
The situation is that the Planning application v.11.1.2.1 is to contain several thousand accounts. In this case is it appropriate to set Account dimension as sparse taking into consideration the impact on calculations and data retrievals?
    Thank you!

The fact that Accounts and Periods are usually dense in Planning apps isn't a hard and fast rule. However, in most applications, this configuration results in efficient I/O. This is a direct result of the way businesses typically like to look at the data. Most (but certainly not all) Planning forms have Periods in the columns of the input form or report. If Periods are dense, it means that Essbase doesn't have to pull a different block into memory for each period. One block vs. twelve. The same is often true for Accounts. Accounts typically end up in the rows of a given input form or report. If Accounts are dense, then Essbase only has to pull a single block into memory for a given report, instead of a different block for each row. Of course this all depends on what is going on with your other dimensions. But for the sake of simplicity, let's assume that you're looking at one Entity, Scenario, Version, etc.
Determining what dimensions shoulld be dense is really about realizing efficient I/O. And what makes things more interesting is this . . . you can't simply think about it in terms of viewing data . . . you have to think about how you calculate data as well. When you run a Planning calculation, you're typically running that calc across multiple Periods. And you're often calculating multiple Accounts at the same time as well. These facts lead many planning apps to have Accounts and Periods dense.
In summary, I would ask this. Will my input forms typically show all (or most) Cost Centers and the same time? What about my reports? When I calculate data, will the calculations focus on one cost center at a time? (typically the one cost center the user has access to edit). Or will they typically calculate data for all cost centers at the same time?
In the end, you're just trying to get the most bang for your I/O buck. That's why I tend to focus a bit less on block size, and more on efficient I/O.
