I am trying to run the metadata repository creation assistant 10.1.2.0.3 against a 10.2.0.2.0 database.
I get the following error:
The Oracle XML Database option of the database is not configured. Please enable Oracle XML Database option and try again.
The XDK public synonyms is not found. Please load XDK public synonyms and try again
Can anybody tell me how to enable the XML dtabase option or configure it. Are there any set of scripts that I can run to accomplish this.
Also can anybody let me know how to load the XDK public synonyms as my dba is not wuite sure where the scripts are located.
This is urgent as we have missed a critical deadline.

How to modify Java options in Oracle 10g Application Server

I am trying to modify the Java Options to specify the following field:
-Djavax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory=
org.apache.xalan.processor.TransformerFactoryImpl
But I am unable to locate the Server Properties section on the Administration section. I had expanded the Prperties section fully also. I had logged in as oc4jadmin.
Can anyone help me out in understanding how to modify the Server Properties. I have consulted the Oracle Documentation but still I cant locate the Server Properties section.

I have logged in using the following URL: http://<machinename>:<port>/em. The URL eventually changes to http://<machinename>:<port>/em/console/ias/oc4j/administration upon successful login.
I clicked on the Application Server and then clicked on administration link but I dont see Server Properties. I only see the following under Properties section:

J2EE Websites
JSP Properties
Logger Configuration
Thread Pool Configuration
Shared Libraries
I am sure I am missing something here.Can you please help me figure that out please.?

Rigoberto, there should be no space between "-Xbootclasspath/p:" and the path "C:\oracle\infra\jdbc-10.1.0.4\ojdbc14.jar;C:\oracle\infra\jdbc-10.1.0.4\orai18n.jar"
By the way, one can always take a look at the logs at
  $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs
especially those files whose names start with OC4J~ if there is some wrong with oc4j processes. Those files are the default oc4j stout and sterr. If oc4j can not init, there should be some kind of error message in them.
By the way, the following line may be deleted since no property file is specified.
  <data id="oc4j-options" value="-properties"/>

Have you considered using JDOM? ( www.jdom.org )
The XMLOutputter class can write the Document to a file. ( The Document however will be an org.jdom.Document object ).
If you are weary of a new API, you could just create a new File object called abc.xml and stream the data from the XML Document you have to this new File object.

Windows command length execeeded when add java options in opmn.xml

Hi All,
I have a Oracle AS 9i installed on Windows 2000. There are some requirement from my application that need to add additional java-options when start up OC4J. So, I updated the opmn.xml by add my things to <data id="java-options" > for start-parameters.
But when I start up server, I got following information in ipm.log:
06/05/16 17:18:06 create_proc: Windows command length exceeded: D:\ora9ias\jdk\bin\javaw.exe
I have tried Oracle AS 10g with the same OS and java-options, the server can start up without any problem.
Is there anyway to make Oracle AS 9i work in this situation?

Solved the issue simply by editing the xml file with sed:

How much XML/Java does one have to know?

I'm new to OA and I have a question. Besides Oracle and PL/SQL how much XML/Jave does one need to know in order to pick up this product. Does it get in your way if you don't know either? Can you get by with out it?
In other words where is that knowledge inportant?

I think this thread has been discussed so many times on this forum, always search old threads before raising new! One need core java knowledge along with pl/sql to start with OAF.
You definately don't need knowledge of xml here as it is generated automatically by Jdeveloper. If you have some knowledge of j2ee design pattern , it would be an added advantage, but basic knowledge of core java is sufficient to start with OAF.

Where is the doc for xml task options for deploy and ojdeploy-build ?

I am a new user.
I tried using jdev help to find my answer, but got lost quickly in the zillions of manuals.
1) Where is the manual/doc for the xml task attributes/options for the Ant tags <deploy> and <ojdeploy-build>?
I am modifying an xml script that ojdeploy will call, but do not know what attributes/options are supported for these tags. I need to know whether an option such as failonerror exists, so that I can report a bug that <deploy> does not default to fail on error (or that <ojdeploy-build> ignores the error and continues with the script.
Followup questions:
2) How do I find the java code that implements the tags <deploy> and <ojdeploy-build>?
3) How do I report a bug on the implementation for these tags and propose a fix (assuming I can see the java source code)?

I guess I wasn't clear enough. What I tried to say was:

I did not mean the ojdeploy command, but the Ant tasks <ojdeploy-build> and <deploy>.
The jdev help does not seem to provide the complete list of elements or attributes for these critical Ant tasks, though it has a few examples.
So far, it appears that <deploy> has been misdesigned and I cannot do what I want, which is to "failonerror" (failonerror="true" should be the default but the opposite is true and there is no attribute to change the setting).
You could consider this to be a bad flaw in Ant itself, that you cannot get the exit code from every Ant task (since they are java programs they do have an exit code), so when new tasks are implemented by folks who lack experience they may leave out access to this programming feature that is however implemented for a bunch of important core Ant tasks such as "java" or "exec". It would have been far more useful to make this a generic feature of all Ant tasks. Of course then folks would be asking for stuff like "fail if" or "fail unless" and where would it end? Maybe with a real programming language like TCL but in XML form.

For a large XML file, you basically have two options - you can load the string directly as an XMLType, or you can load the string as a CLOB and cast it on the database side to an XMLType.
If you decide to load the XML as XmlType client-side, then you may be interested to know that versions of Oracle after 11.2.0.2 support the JDBC 4.0 SQLXML standard. See the JDBC driver release documentation here:

If you want to load as a CLOB, then you'll need to use PreparedStatement's setClob() method, or allocate an oracle.sql.clob object.

I am Fedora 13x64 bit. I just installed FF v6.0.2 from the FF download site. I backed up the existing FF 3.6 as firefox_old
I need to have a Java plugin to access company site, how do I configure the Java Plugin ?
At the Plugin area in FF6 there is no Java Plugin available, even after a search.
I have Java 1.6.0 installed in the OS at:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
I googled how to configure Java Plugin for FF 6 for Fedora 13 and the trick was to create a soft link from /home/<userID>/.mozilla/plugins to the above libnpjp2.so
