How to automate FIM CM configuration steps using PowerShell?

Hi,
We are trying to automate the steps that the FIM CM Configuration wizard is doing using PowerShell. Any pointers on how to do it? Has anyone done it before?
Thank you.

I'm not sure of the point of doing this, and it certainly won't be
supported.

  • How to automate the data load process using data load file & task Scheduler

    Hi,
    I am doing Automated Process to load the data in Hyperion Planning application with the help of data_Load.bat file & Task Scheduler.
    I have created Data_Load.bat file but rest of the process i am unable complete.
    So could you help me , how to automate the data load process using Data_load.bat file & task Scheduler or what are the rest of the file is require to achieve this.
    Thanks

    To follow up on your question are you using the maxl scripts for the dataload?
    If so I have seen and issue within the batch (ex: load_data.bat) that if you do not have the full maxl script path with a batch when running it through event task scheduler the task will work but the log and/ or error file will not be created. Meaning the batch claims it ran from the task scheduler although it didn't do what you needed it to.
    If you are using maxl use this as the batch
    "essmsh C:\data\DataLoad.mxl" Or you can also use the full path for the maxl either way works. The only reason I would think that the maxl may then not work is if you do not have the batch updated to call on all the maxl PATH changes or if you need to update your environment variables to correct the essmsh command to work in a command prompt.

  • Guide me how to automate UME LDAP Configuration

    Hello colleagues,
    I am not sure if this is the right place for putting my question.
    We wanted to automate 'UME LDAP Configuration with Microsoft AD', because we have nearly 25 portals and has to be refreshed for every 3 months from different systems. Instead of configuring UME  every time, we wanted to automate it such that
    it can be done by one click for each portal.
    I am not aware, if it can be done through Webdynpro or Java API.
    Please let me know in which way we can achieve this functionality. If it is in Java then please let me know how to access UME APIs. Moreover Configtool will not save its data at O.S level, it stores in DB.
    Please guide me on achieving this.
    Regards,
    kasi

    Hi Nivas,
    thank you very much for your answer.
    Could you please let me know any APIs to use these functions
    I googled and found APIs for User management ( creating,deleting ,etc..) only.
    I could not find any APIs for LDAP settings in Configtool.
    I wanted to set these values ( which are specified in above link ) from out side.

  • How to automate Sql Server Configuration Manager settings?

    For example, I have just installed Sql Express 2012, and need to configure it for use over the local network. Usually I just manually open Sql Server Configuration Manager -- Sql Server Network Configuration -- <myinstance>, and enable TCP/IP on 1433.However,
    I am not going to be available to do this on every customer's computer. I need to do these steps using a script or something. Is there a way to do this?

    Have a look at this stackexchange thread:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9138172/enable-tcp-ip-remote-connections-to-sql-server-express-already-installed-databas
    There are two good options outlined there
    1. install it with the /TCPENABLED=1 switch (in the original post)
    2. Execute a wmi script post-install (in the answer)
    Note: if you decide to use WMI the root path will be \root\Microsoft\SqlServer\ComputerManagement11 for 2012
    I will have to support install time, and post install. Does TCPENABLED=1 also setup the 1433 port value in TCP/IP Properties - IP Addresses tab?

  • [SOLVED] - How to Rename a Win 7 Computer Using Powershell (deployment)

    For those who just want to know what I'm trying to do here's my question:
    How I can programmatically rename machines during the auditSystem/auditUser portion of Sysprep using PowerShell?
    What is the exact command and/or function should I be issuing?
    History:
    I've scoured the web for a while but unsuccessfully located what I was looking for.  I'm preparing a Windows 7 Enterprise x86 image for deployment, and I need to rename the machine to match our current PC name schema before it is joined to the domain.
    I've managed to pull the information I needed to build the corret computer name thanks to Win32_BIOS.SerialNumber, Win32_ComputerSystem.Model and some IP<->Hashtable Array matching.  The next step is to actually rename the machine; This is
    where I'm having trouble.
    I found this code online :
    Function Rename-ComputerName ([string]$NewComputerName){
    $ComputerInfo = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_ComputerSystem
    $ComputerInfo.rename($NewComputerName)}
    I also found
    this code online :
    function renameAndReboot([string]$computer, [string]$newname){
    $comp = gwmi win32_computersystem  -computer $computer
    $os   = gwmi win32_operatingsystem -computer $computer
    $comp.Rename($newname)
    $os.Reboot()}
    Unfortunately, neither work in PowerShell on my reference image PC running Windows 7.  (However the first one works in PowerShell on my XP Virtual PC.)
    The ReturnValue is 1326 when run on the Win 7 machine as the Administrator.  I'm not quite certain I understand what & why that fails or what exactly that code means.
    Moving on, I decided to go down the WMIC path instead:
     WMIC ComputerSystem where Name="%computername%" call Rename Name="$NewName"
    This works in CMD.exe on Windows XP and to my surprise, in CMD.exe on Windows 7 as well!  But, when run from PowerShell I get "Error: Invalid query".
    Thinking PowerShell might not like the CMD.exe %COMPUTERNAME% environment variable, I sprang for the PowerShell $env:computername environment variable instead:
     WMIC ComputerSystem where Name="$env:computername" call Rename Name="$NewName"
    That unfortunately results in an 'Unexpected switch at this level' error.
    Other suggestions I've seen online were to use netdom, but that's not part of the Win 7 install and since I've historically been able to do this through WMI calls, it should be possible to do this in Win 7, Vista, Server etc.
    I'm completely open to the idea that perhaps I'm doing something wrong.  If you have a tested solution, please share.

    The command:
    (Get-NetFirewallRule -DisplayGroup "File and Printer Sharing" -Direction Outbound).DisplayName
    shows the display names of the 14 outbound rules in the FPS group:
    File and Printer Sharing (NB-Session-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (NB-Session-Out)
    File and Printer Sharing (SMB-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (SMB-Out)
    File and Printer Sharing (NB-Name-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (NB-Name-Out)
    File and Printer Sharing (NB-Datagram-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (NB-Datagram-Out)
    File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-Out)
    File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv6-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv6-Out)
    File and Printer Sharing (LLMNR-UDP-In)
    File and Printer Sharing (LLMNR-UDP-Out)
    If your output is different than this, it means rules have been removed (or added) to the File and Print Sharing group.
    For example, if you run the command:
    New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "My test rule 2" -group "File and Printer Sharing" -Enabled True -Protocol tcp -LocalPort 12346 -Direction Inbound
    This adds a new inbound firewall rule to the FPS group. Output looks like:
    Name : {06449724-944b-4048-834f-8870b9dce4f6}
    DisplayName : My test rule 2
    Description :
    DisplayGroup : File and Printer Sharing
    Group : File and Printer Sharing
    Enabled : True
    Profile : Any
    Platform : {}
    Direction : Inbound
    Action : Allow
    EdgeTraversalPolicy : Block
    LooseSourceMapping : False
    LocalOnlyMapping : False
    Owner :
    PrimaryStatus : OK
    Status : The rule was parsed successfully from the store. (65536)
    EnforcementStatus : NotApplicable
    PolicyStoreSource : PersistentStore
    PolicyStoreSourceType : Local
    This test rule is of course useless because there's no listener on TCP port 12346 on this particular machine..
    The new rule can also be viewed in Windows Firewall with Advanced Security:
    Now if you run the command:
    (Get-NetFirewallRule -DisplayGroup "File and Printer Sharing" -Direction Inbound).DisplayName
    the output will look like:
    File and Printer Sharing (Spooler Service - RPC)
    File and Printer Sharing (Spooler Service - RPC-EPMAP)
    My test rule 2

    Hi Bruce,
    In addition, Since I'm not familar the VSIX, however, to uninstall package with powershell, these cmdlets are for your reference:
    Removes an app package (.appx): Remove-AppxPackage
    To get the installed package :
    Get-AppxPackage
    Or if you want to uninstall app listed in 'Add or Remove Programs', please also check this script:
    $app = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_Product | Where-Object {
    $_.Name -match "Software Name"
    $app.Uninstall()
    If there is anything regarding this script, please feel free to post back.

  • How to automate Sub variables in Essbase using windows scripting

    I am trying to update the automation of sub variables.
    The idea is that the user will set the StartMonth in the file and than based on the value the 3 sub variable for months will get updated.
    Below is the script and the Maxl
    Windows Script
    Set StartMonth = 01
    IF %StartMonth% == 01 SET TempMth1=Aug
    IF %StartMonth% == 01 SET TempMth2=Sep
    IF %StartMonth% == 01 SET TempMth3=Oct
    D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\bin\startMaxl.bat "D:\SetVar.mxl" "RF_Mth1" "%TempMth1%"
    D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\bin\startMaxl.bat "D:\SetVar.mxl" "RF_Mth2" "%TempMth2%"
    D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\bin\startMaxl.bat "D:\SetVar.mxl" "RF_Mth3" "%TempMth3%"
    Maxl Script
    login admin password on localhost;
    spool 'D:\Variables.log';
    alter application appname set variable $1 $2;
    spool off;
    logout;
    exit;
    However this isn't updating the varaibles.
    Can anyone tell me as to what I'm doing wrong.
    Thanks in advance

    I checked it.The variables are set fine but when I try to set variables in Maxl using
    alter application appname "RF_Mth1" "%TempMth1%"
    it doesn't like the "TempMth1%" member...gives a syntax error.
    I tried removing the double quotes,put in single quotes but that didn't work either.

  • How to automatically delete archivelogs on standby using RMAN?

    Hello team. I just setup a physical standby on windows environment. The primary database is been backed up via RMAN and everything works fine except that the archivelogs moved to standby site are not been deleted.
    I couldn't find some rman option to add to the scripts to take care of this issue.
    Environment:
    Windows 2003 server 32bits
    Oracle Database 9.2.0.8
    Thanks in advance!

    If you were using 10g or later you could use a deletion policy as per Oracle support note ID 728053.1.
    In 9i you need to schedule an RMAN job or shell script to delete these archives, e.g.:
    RMAN> delete archvielog all completed before 'sysdate-1';
    I have not tried it, but you can schedule also a PL/SQL script to take care of this, e.g.:
    http://www.dbasupport.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-18680.html
