How to back up HFM's every application automatically

Two applications exist in my company's HFM system. I want to back up the every application every day's 1 am automatically.
Is there someone be able to tell me how to back up every individual application every day automatically?

I don't know of an automatic way in the versions I'm currently using; however, just configure your database server to copy the database (or specific database tables if you have more than one app in the database) nightly. If you need to be able to access the backup through HFM, do an AppCopy of production the first time and then just overwrite the database files (via DB backup). Restore is just to copy the backup database/tables back to prod.

I'm trying to figure out how to get a list of every application on my computer using applescript. I know it is possible for the system to do this, as evidenced by the dialog you get when you use the "choose application" function. Other examples are doing a spotlight search for "kind:app" or programs like Namely or QuickSilver.
Is there a way to do this in applescript? The only solution I've come up with so far is to use the command:
<pre>set everyapplicationaliases to choose application as alias with multiple selections allowed</pre>
and manually select all on the resulting dialog. I can then take the results and go from there, however there are a few significant problems with this approach.
1. It requires user interaction. (I have an idea for some future applications that could use this functionality if it can be done without user input.)
2. It's horribly slow. As a test run I choose all the applications from the dialog, extracted some basic info and put the result on the clipboard. It took a couple of minutes to complete this relatively basic task. In comparison, running the aforementioned spotlight search took maybe ten seconds.

I think I finally found some numbers that make sense!
When I search for Kind:Application by the Command+F method in the Finder, I get a total of 2521 items, of which 2477 are "Applications" and 44 are "Other".
(Just by eyeballing it, "Other" seems to include some Classic Apps and some .bundle files.)
The total # found by this method (2521) plus the number of Widgets found using mdfind (318) equals the number of total number of items found by spotlight (2839).
I also noticed that these numbers almost equal the spotlight number:
mdfind results for kMDItemKind:
Widgets: 318
Applications: 1684
Classic*: 795
and
Command+F "Other" items: 44
3181684+79544 = 2841
It may be a fluke that this is so close to the 2839 spotlight gives, or maybe there's an overlap somewhere...
Tying this back into my initial question, it seems like the original mdfind command for Applications is probably the best answer for what I was looking for,
since I wasn't really thinking about Classic apps and Widgets anyway.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

PS: I'm not sure of the actual OS level, but I have not allowed it to upgrade to Maverick yet; concerned about it because of a few things I've read...

A Safari extension or third party plugin may be causing the menu bar issue.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
As for which OS X is installed.
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
The version is noted there.

I've tried holding down all three keys, control, option and command as well as every combination of them in twos and three and then clicking on the menu bar icon I want to remove and I only get the option to use the software, not to delete it.

Hold command and drag them off the Menu Bar, drag them at least a couple of inches. (or 50mm)

How to include libraries properly in an application

Hello,
I am working on a project that uses an external device.
I installed software for this device that includes drivers and libraries (.dlls) to be used with LabView.
To communicate with the device, I use the "create Active-X object" block.
As the Active-X input, I create a new input and pick the right class from the drop down list.
This does not add any dll files to the dependencies of the project.
LabView seems to be assuming that the necessary files are there.
I want to install this application on another computer that does not necessarilay have the software for the device installed.
My application fails. There's no error message of any missing library whatsoever.
I have to add the necessary libraries manually.
How should I do this?
1) I could add the library files to the project directly.
2) I could add the library files to the installer off my application, so that they are properly installed along with my application.
I'm not sure how to do this.
How do I tell the installer to install* the library files?
(* what I mean with that is to place them in the proper folder. Sure, the application folder is also searched for dlls upon execution but that means every application has its own dll, which seems to be a bad approach)
3) I could add the Redistributable .exe file to the installer of my application as an installer.
I'm not sure how to do this either.
Should I add the .exe file to the project, copy it to some location(which one?) during installation and then execute that file after the installer finished?
Or should I add this installer to the list of "additional installers"? It seems like one can only add NI installers. How do I add mine?
Or is there another way I should do this?

Nope, files in Temp are not automagically deleted by default. What you could do instead is either invoke the installer directly from your install media using a relative path or you could write a good 'ol batch file and invoke that instead at the end of your installer. This would start the actual driver installer and wait for it to finish. Then cleanup whatever needs to be cleaned up afterwards.

What is your objective? The subcube in HFM is a concept which applies to the application tier - not so much to the database tier. The size of the subcube is the unique number of data strips (data values for January - December inclusive, for example) for the given entity, currency triplet or Parent.Child node. You have to account for parent accounts and customs which don't exist in the database but are generated in RAM in the application tier.
So, if your objective is to find the largest subcubes, you could do this by querying the database and counting the number of records per entity/value (DCE tables) or parent.child entity combination (DCN tables). I'm not versed in SQL, but I think the script below would just tell you the schema size and not the subcube sizes.
Check out Accelatis.com for a third party software product that can do this for you. The feature is called the Subcube Analyzer and was written by the same team that wrote HFM, so they ought to know how this works :-)

The API documentation has a link at the top of every page that says "Index". If you follow that and look for toFront(), you will find it exists in java.awt.Window and javax.swing.JInternalFrame.
To use it in a Java application, create an object x of either of those two classes and write "x.toFront();".

How to Back-Up Mac through Recovery Mode?

I'm not to good with computer terms or stuff like that, so please bear with me. Every time I start up my MacBook Pro, a loading bar comes up and then when it completes, it restarts, with the same thing, a endless cycle of loading bars. So I looked at quite a few threads but couldn't find a specific answer to my problem. I want to do a reinstall of new copy of Lion but back-up my data first (there is only 50 GB). I can start into Internet recovery mode. I did the whole "Verify Disk" in the Disk Utility and it said that "The disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk". In which I click repair disk. But then it says "Disk Utility can't repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed-up files". All I have is a 500 GB Seagate External hard drive for Mac, no additional Mac or time machine to back up to. So is someone able to give me step by step on how to back-up my data in my specific situation? I tired to create a New Image of "Macintosh HD" but it says "unable to create "Macintosh HD.dmg". (Error -61)". Also, the Macintosh HD is dimmed (grayish) in the left, but I can still click on it. I don't know what that means. Is there also any way to move files in recovery mode through terminal, from the HD to my external hard drive. As a alternative back up?

In order to follow the guides below, you will need access to another Mac and a firewire cable. Your hard drive is failing. If you make an Genuis Bar appointment at a local Apple Store, they will be able to perform this. If you choose the latter, make sure to bring an external hard drive to which your data can subsequently be transferred to once it has been recovered from the failing drive.

Open-With menu displays two of every application

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, there are two of every application when I right-click to "open-with" a file.
I have followed directions found here, http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10043445
except one problem, I have no .csstore files in the Library/Caches folder, or any other caches folder on my computer (of which I am aware there are several)
I have also tried using Onyx 2.1, which has not changed anything related to this problem.

It sounds like LaunchServices.
Launch /Utilities/Terminal and copy & paste this at the command line to rebuild LaunchServices:
