How to boot solaris 10 on SunFireV20z in 32-bit mode.

Hi,
I have installed solaris 10 on SunFire V20z (AMD).
By default it is booting in 64-bit mode. How do I boot it in 32-bit mode.
# uname -a
SunOS bangpcisol4 5.10 Generic i86pc i386 i86pc
# isainfo -kv
64-bit amd64 kernel modules
Please suggest.
Thanks & Regards,
-GnanaShekar-

How do I automate this?Run the following command with root privileges: /usr/sbin/eeprom  boot-file="kernel/unix"To switch back to 64 bits, run eeprom again: /usr/sbin/eeprom  boot-file="kernel/amd64/unix "Please read the man page of "eeprom" for more information.

Auto updated firefox on OS X but missing "open in 32-bit mode" check box in firefox 'get info'. How do I change firefox to open in 32-bit mode without the checkbox available?

After long phone call with apple support the thing that seemed to work was:
    make a new user.
Copying the itunes app from the new user’s Application folder to the shared folder.
Then open up your old user account and copy it over the old itunes app.
hope it works for you too

  • How do you verify if in 32 or 64 bit mode?

Just received my new 12 core Mac Pro. I understand they boot into 64 bit mode by default. How do I verify it is in 64 bit mode?

Open a terminal shell and type:
    sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture x86_64
To go back to the 32-bit kernel type:
    sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture i386
You can also hold down the 3 and 2 keys and/or 6 and 4 keys at boot but it will revert back to systemsetup setting if you do not specify at boot.
Keep in mind very few things actually benefit from running with the 64-bit kernel. I use 32 at the moment as I have some really old VPN software that wont initialize under 64-bit. 64-bit should not be confused with "It's faster".

  • How do I get iTunes to open in 32-bit mode if I don't have a Mac, just a PC

I am trying to play a tv show on my PC that I bought on iTunes and it says I don't have the Quicktime, or something like that. So I downloaded a new Quicktime and it still says that. So I clicked on more info and it took me to an Apple page showing how to get iTunes to open in 32-bit mode from a Mac. I have a PC and I need to know how to get iTunes to run in 32-bit mode

You can use "History > Restore Previous Session" to get those page back.
    Are you restarting this way?
    # Close Firefox
    # Open the Applications folder in Finder
    # Right click or control-click the Firefox.app icon
    # Select "Get Info"
    # Select "Open in 32-bit mode"
    # Close the "Firefox Info" window
    # Restart Firefox

  • How Would You the Kernel's Running on 64-Bit Mode?

Hi. Is there an indicator in Snow Leopard to know if it's running the kernel in 64-Bit Mode? How would you know the kernel's running in 64-bit? Thank you in advance.
    Gbu.

Open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. Click on the Software entry in the sidebar list. You will see the following:
Note the entry labeled, "64-bit Kernel and Extensions." If you are running the 64-bit kernel the entry will say, "Yes."

  • How to boot solaris 8

I have the instalation of Solaris 8 on my HDD. I lost its own boot loader. Can I start Solaris by other Bootloader (Grub) from Solaris 10 or Linux? Exist another method?

Thanks a lot for your reply.
    I will try it today.
Also you mean to say that I have to go through the whole installation process of solaris 8 or give the format command by pressing STOP+A after the error occurs during booting.
Also I dont remember seeing any # prompt during installation. It was a GUI installation.
I am really sorry if my questions are silly / stupid. Its only that I am dying to learn Solaris now. Its like a puzzle to me.
    Thanks a lot

  • How to make CS6 Camera Raw process in 16 bit mode by default

I just received my Adobe Photoshop CS6 and downloaded the current updates. I have noticed that when I download raw images into Bridge the Metadata indicates that the images have a '16 Bit Depth' but when I open the images in Camera Raw the 'Image Mode' indicates that the image is only 8 bits. I never had this problem with CS4 as it would always open the images as '16 bit' so how can I get CS6 to process the raw images as 16 bit by default?  Thanks for any help!!!

    Hi,
In the camera raw dialog click on the Workflow Options at the bottom of the camera raw dialog
and under Depth set it to 16 bits/channel.

  • If I download Firefox on Windows 7 64 bit, how do I get it to run in 32 bit mode?

I have noticed if I'm on a 64 bit PC ( I am remote support for a product that needs 32 bit browser/32 bit java to work correctly), and they have upgraded to Firefox 8.0 it seems to install and run natively in 64 bit mode, and will not recognize Java 6 29 32 bit plugin.

If there was not a problem, I would not have asked the question. I have encountered this on 9 different pcs this week alone, all of them Windows 7 64 bit and had to swap them to a different browser for Java 6 29 to work.

    hi,
as you read, your BPC was designed for NET1.1 which build under 32bit platform while NW AS ABAP needs 64 bit environments to run. wow3264 is to enable your 32 bit application to run on 64 bit platform in this case BPC NET component can run on 64 bit. wow3264 is windows registry keys. so you can find it in the registry value using regedit.msc.
    may this help you.

Often, I will navigate to a site or page within a site and I get the message "restart in 32-bit mode." This is frustrating because once restarted, I'm taken to my browser homepage. • How can I run Safari version 8 in 32 bit mode?

I have a business application which requires Safari to run in 32 bit mode (Oracle E-Business).  Before the holiday I upgraded from version 7 (which worked fine) to version 8 (which no loner works).  I don't believe version 8 supports 32 bit mode.  Is there a way to 'downgrade' back to version 7?

Thanks for you response.  Just to clarify, when I upgraded to Yosemite, Safari was upgraded to 8.0 with 64 bit mode only?  If this is the case, that helps me in my troubleshooting process with E-Business.

  • How to put itunes in 64 bit-mode??

I recently downloaded Mavericks and when I try to open itunes on my computer, it states that I have to run it in 64-bit mode. It gives me instructions on how to change my itunes from 32 to 64 bit-mode by going to itunes on Finder, clicking "get info" and unchecking 32 bit-mode, but once I got to the "get info" step, there wasn't an option anywhere to uncheck the 32 bit-mode box!
Is there another way I can update my itunes to 64 bit-mode?? I can't even open my itunes without this message popping up!

Open About This Mac from the Apple Menu. Check that you really are running 10.9.1.
Drag iTunes to your Trash, then download and install again. The link is in the previous post.

  • Viewing PDFs in Safari in 64-bit mode - how?

For me, in 64 bit mode, Safari insists on using Preview to view PDFs (and which is slow and clunky).
If I make Safari downgrade itself to 32 bit mode, it properly calls up Acrobat to view PDFs.
How can I have Safari running in native 64 bit mode and call up Acrobat to view PDFs on webpages? Or is it not possible?

If you have Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat Pro installed, the plugin they install to view PDF files in Safari is not 64-bit compatible. Aside from that, unless you have more than 4 GB of RAM installed in your machine, you will not benefit in any way from running Safari or any other application in 64-bit mode, so you should be running everything in 32-bit mode.
Because Safari is perfectly capable of rendering PDF files on it's own, you need to ditch Adobe Reader or Acrobat Pro, or at the very least, deactivate them so they are not called when you want to view a PDF file. To do that:
    Quit Safari if it's running.
Start Adobe Reader and/or Acrobat Pro.
Go to Preferences > Internet and uncheck the box at the top where it says "Display PDFs in browser using:", or something similar to that.
Quit Adobe Reader and/or Acrobat Pro and restart Safari to test it.
