How to build an XML

hi all
i am very new to java.
i query an entity bean which returns to me a collection.
now the problem is i need to build an xml out of this and pass it back to the client as a string. i also have the schema for this.
do u ppl out there have any idea.
thanks in advance

Hello,
When you say you need to build an xml, do you mean you want to construct an xml DOM (Document Object Module)? If you have the schema then you pretty much have the format, if im not mistaken. Once you have the object can't you just pass that back, or pass the value in a string back to who ever?

    I would reccomend JDOM, although it is not the only way(DOM is another), i have found it the easiest document model to work with. http://www.jdom.org
    the code is as easy as:
    Document doc = new Document();
    Element root = new Element( "element-name" );
    root.setAttribute( "id", "1234" );
    doc.setRootElement( root );
    etc etc

  • How do I send XML to a web service?

    I am brand new to Flex. I am trying to write a program that
    uses web services to send and receive data. I have gotten it so
    that it can receive XML from the web service. However, I also need
    to send it, and I am stuck.
    I have tried the following code:
    <mx:WebService id="MyService"
    wsdl="
    http://localhost/FlexTest/service1.asmx?WSDL"
    useProxy="false"
    result="resultHandler(event)">
    <!-- Input: XML Document...Output: String -->
    <mx:operation
    name="HelloPersonAcceptsXmlDocumentReturnsString">
    <mx:request>
    <personXmlDoc>xmlPerson</personXmlDoc>
    </mx:request>
    </mx:operation>
    <!-- Input: XML Node...Output: String -->
    <mx:operation
    name="HelloPersonAcceptsXmlNodeReturnsString">
    <mx:request>
    <personXmlNode>
    xmlPerson.Person
    </personXmlNode>
    </mx:request>
    </mx:operation>
    <!-- Input: String (XML Format)...Output: String -->
    <mx:operation
    name="HelloPersonAcceptsXmlStringReturnsString">
    <mx:request format="xml">
    <personXmlString><p1:Person xmlns:p1="
    http://impact-tech.com/schemas/FlexTest"><p1:ID>f1bd45fc-544b-489d-83cf-349d1f9740ec</p1:I D><p1:FirstName>Joe</p1:FirstName><p1:MiddleName>C.</p1:MiddleName><p1:LastName>Blow</p1:L astName><p1:BirthDate>2006-09-11T14:03:04.4755443-04:00</p1:BirthDate><p1:IsMarried>false< /p1:IsMarried><p1:NumChildren>0</p1:NumChildren><p1:NetWorth>100000</p1:NetWorth></p1:Pers on></personXmlString>
    <!--<personXmlString>{xmlPerson.toXmlString()}</personXmlString>-->
    <!--<personXmlString>{txInput.text}</personXmlString>-->
    </mx:request>
    </mx:operation>
    </mx:WebService>
    In the first operation,
    "HelloPersonAcceptsXmlDocumentReturnsString", I try to send an XML
    object. In the second operation,
    "HelloPersonAcceptsXmlNodeReturnsString", I try to send the root
    node, xmlPerson.Person. In both cases, what actually gets sent is
    literally the text that I put in the <request>node, not the
    object that text is referencing. So for the first, "xmlPerson" gets
    sent to the target, not the XML doc that it refers to.
    In the third operation, I tried three different things, and
    two are commented out. I tried to reference the XML object using
    the toXmlString() method, but again, it literally sent the text
    "xmlPerson.toXmlString()". I tried the curly-brace binding, but
    then nothing gets sent to the web service. I also tried building
    the actual XML document node by node, with values, but I get an
    error from the web service saying it can't be parsed because there
    is an illegal character at Line 1, Position1. The only thing which
    has worked has been to add an Input Text box, copy-and-paste the
    exact same XML structure as I tried to manually build, and then use
    binding to the text property of the InputText control. Then it
    works fine. But I can't actually do that, it's just for testing.
    So my question is how to make a <request> node that is
    part of the web service operation that references an object and
    sends the value of that object to the web service, not literally
    whatever text is typed in that node. I looked at the Web Services
    and Data Binding sections of the help, and didn't see any examples
    covering this. Everything was far more simplistic with binding to
    controls. Can anyone help a newbie, please?

    I don't understand how this isn't a Flex Builder question,
    since it has to do with how Flex Builder interacts with web
    services and how objects are used in binding in MXML.
    But at any rate, I got this code to work, for future
    reference of anyone else looking in this forum:
    Declaring a custom class in MXML was key to allow proper
    binding:
    <CustomClasses:Person id="testPerson" xmlns:local="*"/>
    <mx:WebService id="MyService"
    wsdl="
    http://66.129.123.211/FlexTest/service1.asmx?WSDL"
    useProxy="false"
    result="resultHandler(event)">
    <!-- Input: XML Document...Output: String -->
    <mx:operation
    name="HelloPersonAcceptsXmlDocumentReturnsString">
    <mx:request>
    <personXmlDoc>{testPerson.GetXmlDoc()}</personXmlDoc>
    </mx:request>
    </mx:operation>
    </mx:WebService>

  • How to create an XML document from a String.

    Can anyone help,
         In the Microsoft XML Document DOM there is a load function load(string) which will create an XML document, but now we are switching to Java and I do not know how to create and XML document from a string, this string xml document is passed to my program from a webservice and I need to read several xml elements form it in a web server.
    This string is a well formatted XML document:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <Countries NumberOfRecords="1" LanguageID="en-us">
         <Country>
              <CountryCode>AU</CountryCode>
              <CountryName>AUSTRALIA</CountryName>
         </Country>
    </Countries>

    Thanks PC!
    I made it work using:
    DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    DocumentBuilder builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    factory.setIgnoringComments(true); // We want to ignore comments
    // Now use the factory to create a DOM parser
    DocumentBuilder parser = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    //TransformThisStringBuffer is a string buffer wich contain the 'XML document (String)'
    InputStream in = new ByteArrayInputStream(TransformThisStringBuffer.toString().getBytes());
    // Parse the InputStream and build the document
    Document document = parser.parse(in);
    But which one is faster InputSource or InputStream, were would you put the "new InputSource(new StringReader(yourString))" in the above code?

  • How to get built.xml for ear file in jdeveloper?

    Hi,
    I am using JDeveloper to create EAR file for my ADF Fusion Application. I think Jdeveloper use ant to create EAR file. I know how to get built.xml for my war file.
    Can anyone tell how to get that built.xml that create EAR file in Jdeveloper.?

    This blog explains:
    http://adfhowto.blogspot.com/2011/03/ojdeploy-deploying-adf-application-from.html
    Based on the blog, I simply copied an existing project "deploy" target definition and augmented the project's build.xml with a new target "deployApp" that omits the Project parameter to ojdeploy. This causes ojdeploy to build the workspace-level deploy profile instead. I also omitted the output directory parameter (default is app's /deploy folder) and assume that there is only one application deployment profile (i.e. the default for profile parameter is the '*' wildcard). You can augment the build.properties file if you need to get fancier than that.
    <target name="deployApp" description="Deploy Complete YourFoo Application"
    depends="init">
    <taskdef name="ojdeploy"
    classname="oracle.jdeveloper.deploy.ant.OJDeployAntTask"
    uri="oraclelib:OJDeployAntTask"
    classpath="${oracle.jdeveloper.ant.library}"/>
    <ora:ojdeploy xmlns:ora="oraclelib:OJDeployAntTask"

    ora:buildscript="${oracle.jdeveloper.deploy.dir}/ojdeploy-build.xml"

    To build a Java class file (ie compile it) you need to call the Java compiler javac. There is software around to make this easier:
    - ANT a make like tool but with XML files usually called build.xml
    - Maven a more convention driven approach for much complexer systems
    - IDEs like JDeveloper, Netbeans, Eclipse, you name it.

  • Building an XML file

    I'm trying to build an XML file in Java to persist data for an application between sessions. I'd like to build a structure like this
    <Files>
    <Entry>somefile.txt</Entry>
    <Entry>otherfile.txt</Entry>
    </Files>
    How can I do this using JDK 1.4? I've figured out how to generate it with attributes:
    <Files>
    <Entry entry=somefile.txt/>
    <Entry entry=otherfile.txt/>
    </Files>
    But that's not the way I need to do it. Can anyone make a suggestion?
    Thanks.

    You need to create Text nodes and append them to your Entry nodes. Say you have a Document, doc:
    Element files = doc.createElement("Files");
    doc.appendChild(files);
    Element Entry = doc.createElement("Entry");
    files.appendChild(entry);
    Text text = doc.createTextNode("somefile.txt");
    entry.appendChild(text);Output:
    <Files>
    <Entry>somefile.txt</Entry>
    </Files>
    Hope that helps.

  • How to build a full dynamic WHERE expression in ADFBC Faces View Object ?

    In UIX I known to do that, but i don't kwown how to do in ADFBC Faces.
    please help me to see an example.

    Juan Carlos

    You write an AM level method to set the where clause and you expose it as a client method. (just like you did before)
    Then you can drag this method onto a page as a button and then pressing on this button will execute the method.
    If you want this to be done automatically without pressing a button - you go to the pagedef.xml file for your page and add a methodInvocation binding to that AM method, and then add a method executable to the executables section calling this method.
