How to build labview global variable into dll?And how to use it in vc++ program?

Hi!
   I want to build labview application into dll and use vc++ to call it.The labview program is a little complex,for it has many interface to vc++ and has while loop in it.When I use vc++ to call it,I must use vc++ to do other things.That is to say,vc++ creates a new thread to provide for the labview dll to run.the vc main thread goes on to other things.But the vc++ main thread must communicate with the labview dll by setting its inputs' parameters and get the results of running labview dll.Can you advise me how to realize it?
   I think global variable of labview could be useful when realizing the communication betweeb vc thread and labview dll.So I want to ask whether the labview global variable could also be built into dll and use it.Could you please tell me how to realize my idea?
   Thank you!

You
can't access LabVIEW globals directly from a caller to the LabVIEW DLL.
However there is no problem in providing specific accessor VI functions
to that global and export them as additional functions from the DLL.

  • Making dll from VI containing labview global variable ?

    I've made dll from VI containing labview global variable.
    But, when I write a c program calling a function from the dll, it returns just error.
    The goal is to read a labview global variables from c program. What can i do for it ?

    Hi
    If you don't use the dll in your LV app, it will be difficult, because it will be in the adress-range of you c app. So any writing of values to the global variable in LV, won't affect the variable in the dll.
    What you can do is some kind of client-server architecture. You need a third app, which just does the data exchange - so you should be able to write a value from LV and read it from c.
    There already have been discussions about similar topics - just search the forum.

  • How to Set multiple Global Variables without using Controls or Indicators

    I have to set many Global Variables (i.e. declare and initialize them) in a subVI in order to pass them to various other subVI's. The only way I know how to do it in LabView is to create a Globals.vi on which you create a control or indicator for EACH Global Variable. That's fine if you have only a few variables. But I have close to a hundred Global Variables (which come from a configuration file for a large program) and clearly it is impractical and cumbersome to create a control for each global variable. In Agilent Vee, there is a simple function called "Set Variable" that sets the data value of a global variable. Then in other module, you simply use the "Get Variable" function to get back the v
    ariable and its value.
    In LabView you can use the "Invoke Node / Set Control Value" and "Get Control Value" properties to achieve the same thing. But as mentioned above, you need to create a control for each global variable and that is a big pain in my case, with many global variables. Furthermore, the global variables are read from a Configuration Text File to this VI. Is there a way to do it without using the control? Thank you in advance for any help.

    Actually you could create the same sort of facility in LV. All you have to do is create a LV2-style global that behaves as follows:
    To write a value to it, you supply a value name and the value. These pieces of data are save internally in seperate arrays.
    To read a value, you supply a value name. The VI looks up this name in the value name array to return an index into the value array. Output the value you find.
    Frankly though, it sounds like what you really need is not hundreds of globals, but a good way to manage configuration data.

  • How can I access global variables in a loaded Applescript?

    How can I access global variables in a loaded script, in Xcode, ApplescriptObjC? Basically, I have a global variable defined in my parent script using "property", and I need to modify objects connected to those variables inside of a loaded script.
    Example:
    Parent script:
    script AppDelegate
    property myTextField : missing value
    //linked to a text field object
    tell myScript to myAwesomeHandler_()
    end script
    Loaded script:
    on myAwesomeHandler_()
    myTextField's setStringValue_("The new Xcode is so glitchy ugh")
    //changes value of linked text field of parent script
    end myAwesomeHandler_
    The problem is, the variable is undefined in the Loaded script, and I need it to have the same value as the parent script, and I don't want to pass the variable through the Handler. Any ideas?

    I think want you are looking to do will need to be done in two steps. Because myTextField needs to be a property for the ObjectiveC part of the code you cannot turn it into a global.
    However if you make a temporary variable global assign the string to it in the handler then set myTextField off of it.
    global myTextFieldGlobal
    script AppDelegate
    property myTextField : missing value
    //linked to a text field object
    tell myScript to myAwesomeHandler_()
    myTextField's setStringValue_(myTextFieldGlobal)
    end script
    on myAwesomeHandler_()
    set myTextFieldGlobal to "The new Xcode is so glitchy ugh"
    //changes value of linked text field of parent script
    end myAwesomeHandler_
    I know you stated you did not want the handler to return a value but I have to ask why? Global's, imo, are not a good idea and really should be used as a last resort.
    One other possibility is to pass a reference to the property to the handler. Not sure if that works in AS of if that would satisfy our requirement of not passing the variable through the handler
    <edit>
    Another though have you tried to define the property outside the script?  That is
    property myTextField : missing value
    script AppDelegate
    Not sure if that will work.

  • LabView TEDS library into DLL or ActiveX Control so that I can use it in C or Visual Basic?

    We are developing software in LabWindows/CVI and Microsoft C. I heard that LabView can generate DLLs. Can I turn LabView TEDS library into DLL or ActiveX Control so that I can use it in C or Visual Basic development environment?

    Technically what you are proposing is possible with LabVIEW. With LabVIEW's application builder, VIs can be built into dlls. Also, LV has ActiveX hooks and so you could create a system for calling into it from CVI. However, this is not what I would recommend.
    The LabVIEW VIs have been written to a preliminary version of the IEEE specification (1451.4) that describes the TEDS data which is primarily why I'm advising you against using them. Once the IEEE spec is approved (the current timeline is currently late March), it will become public and you can write your own code according to the specification (or wait for someone else to write it). To help you get started, the spec includes flex and bison code that describes the syntax and structure of the template files
    Internally, we've written some C, C++ and Java code to the preliminary version of the spec and we've found that we can duplicate the functionality of the TEDS Library for LV in roughly 2 weeks in any other language.

  • How to create a global variable in forms 6i

    How to create a global variable in forms 6i

    :GLOBAL.my_var := 15; Well, this statement is not correct! Global variables
    stores a character string of up to 255 characters in
    length. Thus, valid statement for Khurram example
    is:
    :GLOBAL.my_var := TO_CHAR(15);
    or
    :GLOBAL.my_var := '15';
    But numeric values are implicitly converted by oracle so there's nothing in fact wrong with the statement...
    :GLOBAL.my_var := 15;

  • Can LabVIEW global variables be shared between UUT sequence steps in the parallel sequence model?

    Sorry for this simple question,  I'm having a hard time finding this answer.
    If I launch a sequence to run on two UUTs in the parallel sequence module,   can I get both UUTs to run LabVIEW vis that use global variables such that :
    1) UUT 0  executes 20 LabVIEW Vi  steps asynchronously,  5 of which access data from LabVIEW global variables A, B, C (Strings)
    2) UUT 0 executes the same 20 LabVIEW based steps asynchronously  5 of which access data from then same LabVIEW global variables A, B, C (Strings)
    I am a little worried that using file globals may have some delays or more of a race condition than using native LabVIEW global variables like in a single labview application perform.
    QUESTION 2:  Are file globals actually written to the hard drive and shared between parallel sequences through file transfer?  OR  are they in memory?
    Brad Whaley
    LabVIEW Certified Engineer

    Hi bdwhaley,
    Are your parallel sequences only reading from the global variable? Or are they writing to the variable as well? If it is just reading, then you should be okay. File globals are read from memory. Every time they are read, a copy of the data is made in memory.

  • How to pass a JavaScript variable into a java method

    I would like to know how to pass a JavaScript variable into a java method with in a <% %> tag inside a JSP file like so:
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"%>
    <html>
    <head>
    <script LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
    myValue = someDynamicValue;
    <% System.out.println(myValue)%>
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>
    obviously "System.out.println(myValue)" will not work because myValue is seen as a java variable and not a JavaScript variable.
    I would like to know how to let the jsp file, that I wrote in the above code, see myValue as a JavaScript variable and not a java variable so that I can pass it to a java method.
    NOTE: the java method does not have to be a println() method, it can be any method of my choice.
    NOTE: someDynamicValue is a JavaScript value that can dynamically change

    I don't believe you can. JSPs are really just elaborate templates that an engine such as Tomcat parses and generates an HTML page based on. That page is then displayed to the user. By the time you want to use some function in Javascript, the JSP has already been parsed and generated.
    Basically, Javascript and JSPs can't talk to each other. One's server-side and the other is client-side.

  • How do I enter a variable into an equation?

    How do I enter a variable into an equation?

    Jacob,
    Spreadsheets don't use equations, so the usual nomenclature can be confusing.
    When you enter something into a spreadsheet cell, it is either a Literal Value (Constant), or an Expression, preceded by an equal sign, that tells the spreadsheet to display something. Every Cell Reference in the Expression is a Variable. The equal sign in this case does not signify an equality, it just signals the spreadsheet that you want it to do something, defined by the expression that follows.
    Here's an equation: A1 = B1 + C1 + 10, where B1 and C1 are variables and 10 is a constant.
    To figure out what the value of A1 is, you write an expression in cell A1. That Expression would be: =B1 + C1 + 10. The operation that is performed by the spreadsheet is that it looks at B1 and C1, adds whatever it sees there and then adds the constant 10, and displays the result in A1.
    It can get very complex. Expressions can contain Functions that catch the Time or generate a random number, or round a value, etc. Just remember that anything you see in a cell can be changed, so that content, that cell address, is a variable

  • How can I define global variable in user exit whic I can use anywhere.

    Hi all,
    How can I define global variable( Table ) which I can use when it come back to same user exit where I defined and stored some data.
    What I mean is I want to define 1 global table.
    In user exit when it comes I store some information. and again when it will come I will have that stored information so I can use it.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    You can use EXPORT  TO MEMORY ID and IMPORT FROM MEMORY ID Statement for this.
    EXPORT T_ITAB FROM T_ITAB TO MEMORY ID 'ABC'.
    IMPORT T_ITAB TO T_ITAB FROM MEMORY ID 'ABC.'

    can anyone help me?

    Different methods:
    int a;
    string s=a+"";or
    String.valueOf(int) is the better option because Int.toString() generated an intermediate object to get the endresult

    Hi,
    Using the Parameters is the correct method to pass data into and out of a sub sequence. You assign your data to be passed into or out of a Sequence when you are in the Edit Sequence Call dialog and in the Sequence Parameter list.

  • How many photos can you load into Organizer and Editor

    How many photos can you load into Organizer and Editor at one time.  I receive the error message, "Unable to Import Files", which says "You exceeded number of files that can be selecteed and imported at once...."  What is the number?  Secondly is there a way around this for either the Organizer or Editor to work on thousands of photos at the same time?
    Thanks

    I have never heard of this particular limit before.
    Please understand, this appears to be the limit you can import into the Organizer at one time -- you can have as many photos as you want in the Organizer; but apparently you have to import in batches rather than all at once.
    I don't think it applies to the editor; and I can't imagine wanting to have more then a few files in the editor at any one time ... even if you could open 2000 photos in the editor at once, what sense would that make?
